Chapter 4

All in all, you did the best. You used your Magic Circuit quirk to beat everyone and earn the highest scores. You felt slightly bad for the green-haired boy, who's named you learned to be Midoriya Izuku. He placed last, and was sweating nervously until Aizawa informed everyone that the expulsion threat was a lie.

"It should have been obvious," a tall, black-haired girl said. You recalled her name to be Yaoyorozu Momo, with a quirk called Creation. She was one of the other students who also got in through recommendations.

Earlier, you had to assist her because a short midget with purple balls on his head—probably his quirk—named Mineta Minoru tried to jump on her front, and while she was paralyzed from shock, you kicked him away. He whimpered from the pain as he was sent flying.

"(Last Name), can you stay behind for a moment?" Aizawa dismissed everyone else to go change back to their normal uniforms while you waited for them to clear out.

He approached you with a rare and small smile on his face. "Is everything okay, (Name)?"

"Yeah," you responded.

"Midnight informed me of what happened... although I already knew a part of it. If anything seems to bother you, you can tell me." He ruffled your hair before turning away. "Why don't you go get changed now?"

"Okay...Shouta. Thanks."

When you got to the classroom and checked the clock, it was lunch. You left the class with everyone else to go to the cafeteria. After you received your tray of (favourite food), you strolled around, looking for a table that was empty.

Not being able to find one, you instead searched for an empty space, at which you conjured up a lunch table. You sat down and quietly began to eat, but glanced up when someone approached your table.

"Aren't you part of class 1-A?" It was a blond boy with gray eyes that look demeaning. "Did they reject you? You must be pretty useless for them to not want to talk to you."

"I chose to not talk to them," you replied, unimpressed.

"Stop it, Monoma!" A girl with orange hair pulled in a side ponytails showed up to chop the side of his neck and knock him out. "First day and he's already causing trouble," she sighed.

"Oh... okay."

She gave you a sweet smile. "My name is Kendou Itsuka, nice to meet you!"

"(Last Name) (Name)." You watched as she dragged him away, his head bobbing against the ground.

You quickly finished off the rest of your lunch, hoping to just get to walk around the campus for a little bit. But when you stood up to put your tray away, you noticed Mineta and a yellow-haired guy with a black lightning bolt in his hair whispering.

Deciding to ignore, you finished cleaning up and planned to leave the cafeteria, however, when you passed their table, you could hear what they were saying.

"—and take a picture of (Last Name)'s butt! She's so quiet and shy, but I bet she's hiding an amazing body under that uniform!!!" Mineta said.

You continued walking by, waiting for them to try.

You heard the click when you were outside, walking down the hallway to explore.

"Dayum!!!" Mineta squealed when you turned the corner. Kaminari and he were staring at the picture, so you sighed and teleported behind them.

"Would you mind?" you said, your voice low and controlled, but your facial expression clearly expressing anger.

They squeaked and started to run off, before you thrusted out your right hand, your markings starting to glow like they did whenever you used your quirk. Ropes made from compressed and shaped energy burst out from your palm to wrap themselves around the boys' bodies before making them go limp.

"What are you perverts doing at our school?" Your finger flexed, the ropes starting to tighten, making them cry out in pain.

"We're sorry!" Kaminari yelled, squirming about. "We'll delete the picture and never do it to you again!"

"Tch..." You released them before turning to walk away, hearing their desperate clicks on the phone they had to try and delete it.

"You're back earlier, (Name)," Aizawa said when you entered the classroom. You didn't feel like taking a look around the school anymore, so you opted to come here instead.

"Yeah." You took a seat at your desk and waited for the rest of the day to commence.

———

It went by pretty quickly, and soon enough, you were packing your bag. Nemuri sent you a text in the middle of class asking if things were okay, even though she should have been teaching. Aizawa ignored it, knowing it would only be her, and you did too. But other than that, it went without a hitch.

"(Last Name)." You turned to see who called your name, only to find Todoroki at your desk, waiting. "I was wondering if you wanted to talk about our pasts or something... Because you said something about it earlier, this morning, so maybe we could go to a coffee shop and talk..."

"Sure, I guess," you responded, slinging your bag over your shoulder.

The two of you left, walking in silence along the busy sidewalks and roads. By the time you got there, ten minutes had past of the two of you not saying anything.

"I'll pay, (Last Name), since I asked you to come here," Todoroki said.

"Right..."

You ordered a (favourite drink) and left to go find a table while Todoroki ordered his stuff. Waiting patiently for him to come, you noticed a family with large smiles on their faces, the parents holding their daughter's hands. You looked away bitterly, finding Todoroki had come to sit down with the drinks.

"I'll tell you about my past first," he said. "You've heard of quirk marriages, right?"

When you nodded, he continued on.

"My father forced my mom to marry him so he could have a child to overcome All Might, the number one hero. He wasn't content with just being the second, so he came up with a plan to beat him. However, after I was born, once I got my quirk, he started forcing me to train rigorously, so I could get stronger. I wasn't allowed any freedom, and he would beat me and my mom sometimes too. And...it was too much for my mom. One day, she was talking to her mother, and I walked in on her. She looked...horrified. And she threw boiling water on my face."

You nodded slowly, taking it all in. His tragedy was brought on throughout his whole life, but he had become used to it...

"I guess it's my turn now..." you started. "I had a normal, happy life at first. My parents were strong, popular heroes, so you would think nothing bad would happen. But...when I was ten, villains and criminals broke into our house quietly and sneakily, and they murdered my mom and dad. It was traumatizing, and it was harder because I was ten, so I knew what was going on and I understood it. I can't remember what they sounded like, what they looked like, or a lot of things about them, to be honest."

"That...sucks," he said.

"Yeah... I guess we're leaving now, since that was all we needed to say." You finished off your drink before standing up. "Thank you for allowing me to relieve myself."

"Bye, (Last Name)," he said, getting up too. You hesitated. You've never told anyone about this because you didn't want to get close to them but...he was different.

You made up your mind quickly. Even if you met this morning, you were certain you could trust him.

"Call me (Name)."
