Seokjin walked back to the small dining area wordlessly, followed by a nervous Jungkook, an uncomfortable Namjoon and an overly joyful Yoongi.
"Um... Yoon can you just go and call Tae from his room upstairs? I'll finish setting up the table." The blonde turned purple head said, dragging around a few chairs to make space for the unexpected guest. Yoongi gave a nod and flew upstairs while Jungkook offered to help the older man to set up the seating.
Namjoon stiffled a smirk, watching his son's attempts to appear as the perfect gentleman he really wasn't. He sneakily glanced at the oldest from time to time, trying his best to not make it obvious that he was ogling.
But could you really blame him? His Hyung absolutely rocked this new hair. The coloured curls falling on his forehead complemented his light brown eyes and pale pink skin, and the messiness just make him look atleast ten years younger than he was.
Not that he minded an older version of the man. Cause that way he was more elegant, dainty, sassy and--
"--Dad?" Namjoon snapped out of his reverie, looking back at a puzzled Jungkook.
"You alright? I called you to sit down two times and you didn't answer." Jungkook informed him and Namjoon's eyes widened.
5 minutes in and you're already zoning out? Get a hold of yourself Namjoon!
"Yea-yeah Im fine, let's-lets sit?" He said, quickly reaching for a chair and settling atop without looking up. He could feel Seokjin's gaze on him for a few seconds and felt self conscious.
"Alright, so um-- I forgot to give you a small heads up Kookie," Seokjin said clearing his throat with a nervous smile.
"Yeah?" Jungkook asked, taking his own seat beside his father.
"I didn't inform Taehyung you were com--"
"What the fuck?" A deep voice boomed from the hallway, interrupting the father, who only sighed in response.
"What the fuck is he doing here?" Taehyung lunged up to the dinning table and slammed his fists on the table, ferocious eyes glaring at the youngest who quickly leaned away in fear.
"Taetae calm down," Seokjin sighed, hands reaching the collars of his baby tiger and tugging him back gently, "I invited him here."
Taehyung snapped his head at the older, mouth hanging open.
"You? Why??"
"Because you both need to sort things out and i kinda want Jungkook to taste my barbecue." His father told him nonchalantly which further confused the blonde haired son.
"I absolutely love your barbecue Jin--" Jungkook started only to receive a slight shove on his side by his own father.
"Atleast let him serve you first?" Namjoon whispered and Jungkook bit his tongue, giggling.
"But what about the space I told you I needed?" Taehyung grumbled, lips forming a pout as his father directed him to sit across Jungkook.
"I am giving you space," Seokjin interjected, "There's a whole table in between the two of you--"
"Alright mates, where's my meat?" Yoongi nodded in, looking extremely cozy in a big red sweater and pyjamas. He decided to spend the night in, because it was snowing outside and it was going to get a little too entertaining here , to miss any of it.
"Coming right away~" Seokjin smiled, walking away to the kitchen and trying his hardest to ignore the rapid thudding of his heart when his eyes met Namjoon's for a split second.
He exhaled when he reached the kitchen, fingers gripping the marble top as a he blushed furiously. Damn, Namjoon was here. And he was going to be for the whole evening! His mind subconsciously wondered if he looked good. Just-just generally. He totally wasn't trying to impress a certain black haired man sitting in his dinning room.
Back in the dinning room the atmosphere was tense.
Jungkook looked like he wanted to say something but gulped and shut up when he met Taehyung's hard glare burning his forehead. On the other hand, Namjoon was left alone to face a cocky Yoongi who kept smirking at him for no good reason. Namjoon just wanted to flip the table and elope.
Soon, Seokjin came back wheeling in a three layered food trolley, all of the layers decked with an assortment of different roasted dishes.
The guest diners' mouth dropped at the amount of food that was produced out of nowhere. Yoongi grinned and Taehyung looked slightly elated as well.
"That-- for us?" Namjoon choked out, looking incredulously at Seokjin and didn't miss how the older blushed under his gaze.
"Yeah!" The oldest said, laughing squeaky, "I might've cooked a little extra. Good thing you brought your father Jungkook."
"Oh yes!" Taehyung suddenly perked up, only now noticing the other older man sitting at the table with a sheepish smile ," It's Mr. Kim! Nice meeting you again, Sir."
"Likewise Taehyung," Namjoon said warmly, not noticing the two curious pairs of eyes looking at their little exchange.
"You guys know each other?" Seokjin and Jungkook asked in unison, eyes furrowed.
Taehyung shrugged and Namjoon nodded, smiling.
"We've met before," the dad said vaguely, "I have to say the boy is really smart." Namjoon winked at Taehyung, who suddenly giggled, cheeks flushing at the compliment.
Jungkook looked between them with wide eyes, not sure if he should be happy or not. His dad knows his boyfriend?
Seokjin on the other hand, felt a small smile creep onto his lips, heart filling up with certain warmth. For some reason Namjoon's affection for Taehyung made him tad more attractive than he already was.
"If you guys are done with the family drama, may i please get some pork?" Yoongi's annoyed voice broke the small moment and the host began to place the dishes according to the course. Begining from soups, fried noodles, soybean paste stew, eel, barbecued shelled crabs, raw fish, kimchi, porridge, meat-- literally everything was on the table.
No one said a word and just dug in, sighing at the taste, that made Seokjin almost smirk.
Nothing a table full of good food couldn't solve.
Jungkook asked for some raw fish that was on the other side of the table, Seokjin going to hand it over when his fingers brushed against another. He looked to the side to find Namjoon holding it as well.
They looked at each other for a second and froze before quickly snatching their hands away as if they got burned from the contact.
Jungkook pouted as the fish was now on the floor instead of his plate and Yoongi stiffled a laugh.
"Hey uncle," Yoongi piped up, shoving a piece of pork in his mouth, "You're awfully quiet today. Don't you think Tae? I mean Jungkook's father, Mr. Kim is here and he hasn't even said much to him."
Seokjin swore if eyes could kill Yoongi would be getting burried three feet under, by this very moment.
"That's actually right... Appa's usually so talkative on dinner parties. I don't know what happened to him today." Taehyung hummed, swooping in a piece of clam.
"Hah, it's probably my dad," Jungkook snorted looking at Namjoon," He's not much of talker and probably makes everyone uncomfortable with his presence."
"Jungkook you shouldn't be speaking about your dad like that!" Seokjin frowned but then suddenly realised how he just sounded.
The table fell silent. Namjoon looked surprised, Taehyung confused, Jungkook nervous and yoongi trying his hardest to not choke on his meat.
"Im-- I'm sorry Mr. Kim I was joking," Jungkook said looking down at his feet and Taehyung almost softened his gaze at the adorable boy.
"No-- no no I meant-- haha what I meant was," Seokjin coughed trying to appear as if he was laughing, "that it's definitely not your father. Mr. Kim has been nothing but nice and I'm grateful he chose to stop by. I think I'm just tired from cooking all of this up for the whole day."
The two boys nodded and got back to eating their dinner peacefully, but Namjoon kept his gaze at the elder, eying each and every movement of his with unknown hooded eyes.
The doorbell rang, snatching their attention to the door. The oldest went up and giddily welcomed two more guests, one of who waltzed in like he was one of the 12 dancing princesses and the other looked like someone dumped a gallon of snow on his head.
"I hate snowy winters," Jimin grumbled throwing his wet coat in the door side laundry and Hoseok giggled, pinching his cheeks. Hobi was literally dressed in a simple cardigan and none of the six other males in the room knew how he was still alive.
"Hoseok, Jimin!" Taehyung gushed leaping up from his chair to welcome the boys, followed by an equally giddy Jungkook. Namjoon looked happy to see them too, but no one noticed how Yoongi suddenly flushed a scarlet.
"I invited them over like right now, because I realized the food was too much for even 5 of us. So come on my monkeys, let's ape." Seokjin smiled widely, setting up two more chairs on either side of Yoongi. Hoseok and Jimin took their places beside him, briefly glancing at the silver head who was shyly playing with his pyjamas.
"Hmm... Spiderman pyjamas?" Hoseok whispered close to his ear so that only Yoongi and Jimin could hear. Yoongi blushed harder and bit his lip making Jimin smirk and look away.
"Can't wait to see you out of that, baby boy." Jimin purred softly, hand secretly reaching to caress the older's thigh. Yoongi squeaked and swatted his hand away, cheeks aflame. The other two boys snickered giving each other a high five.
Yoongi had sworn it was a one time thing when he bottomed for both boys because they kept pestering him about it. And now neither of them let him live it down.
He raised his head to directly look at Seokjin, who smirked at him. Tit for tat, he mouthed and Yoongi scoffed looking away. He wasn't going to lose this.
"Uh so-- Mr. Kim?" Yoongi said again, regarding Namjoon with mischievous eyes, "I was wondering where you got that beautiful tan from. Did you perhaps go for a vacation recently?"
Namjoon stilled, throat gulping the bolus of delicious food he was trying to shove in peacefully. He passed a glare at the younger who smirked at him.
Jungkook looked at his father's face and hummed in agreement.
"I didn't notice, you do have a tan." He said and Namjoon gulped again, briefly glancing at Seokjin who was busy serving the newcomers.
Jimin and Hoseok exchanged knowing looks.
"Yeah I... I went for a business meeting."
"Oh when?" Jungkook asked again and Namjoon scratched his lip.
"When you went... To Vegas?" Namjoon replied, sounding unsure.
"Where did you go?" This time it was Taehyung, who looked slightly curious. There were only a few places where you could get a tan like that in winter.
Namjoon struggled to find a name and suddenly came up with one. "Hawai. I went to hawai."
"Oh i like that place," hoseok sprang up smilingly giddily, "it was the first place to sell pineapples on pizza."
The other six grimaced at the statement before Jimin let out a sigh.
"Atleast it'd be better than Vegas. That trip was fucked--" The shorter stopped, realising what he just said. The table fell silent again and he dreadfully turned over to Taehyung whose face fell.
"Tae--"
"I'm done. Thanks for the dinner Appa." Taehyung said dropping his napkin over his plate and running back upstairs ignoring his father's calling after him.
Jungkook looked alarmed as he too jumped on his feet and followed the older, determined to make things right.
"Great," seokjin sighed and looked at Jimin who looked guilty, "Don't worry about bringing that up chimmy, atleast now they can talk it out alone. The tension was too much anyway."
"It still is," Yoongi said, sipping on his cold drink coolly. Hoseok nodded in agreement.
Seokjin understood what he was referring to, and raised his gaze to look at the younger dad who was already looking at him.
Were the kids the only ones who needed to talk it out?
The older turned and walked away to the kitchen, putting off his apron on the way. Yoongi signalled the other dad to go after him and Namjoon gulped, rising on his two feet before following the older into the kitchen.
