BH 4
A few days later back at the bar, I had been sitting in a dark corner peeling the label off my beer. When the stupidest pair of retards started in on Josie. She already looked tired to begin with, and this just sent her over the edge. Normally she just laughs them off, and moves on. But not today. Today she was spitting fire, along with a very choice words. The boys didn’t take to kindly to her comments, and proceeded to show her what they called ‘a good time’.
Feeling the need to get a little bloody, I stepped in. Pulling Josie right out of their grasp, placing her behind me. Their looks as I took a new toy away. Anger, annoyance and maybe a bit of lust, once they noticed who had taken her.
“You boys best not touch Josie. She’s a good girl” Waving my finger at them. Playing the southern bell was something I use to do for fun. Threw them for a loop if you will.
“Well now, looky what we have here. Ain’t she pretty” Breathing overly powerful alcohol down my face, not a turn on.
“How about you and Miss Josie come have a good time with us?” The other still chuckling like some drunk chick at a frat.
“I think not. Best be heading home. If you know what’s good for yea.”
“We ain’t going nowhere, at least not without you two” Stepping forward, I could hear Josie hold her breath. Like hell I was going with them, and I sure wasn’t letting them take her. With a quickness I had been long training for, two butterflies slipped out of my pockets. Movements not to be seen, unless you were paying extra special close attention, and I had both boys family jewels at knife point.
“Now listen here boys. When I said you’d do best to be going on home, it wasn’t a suggestion. So are we gunna be listening, or should I just go a head an remove the golden tickets?” Pushing the knives up harder. As their faces paled, with sucked in breaths I received nods.
“Such good boys you are. Now run along” Pushing them away from us. Grumbling and calling me a bitch along with a few other words, they left. Turning around to Josie who had at some point flopped down into a bar stool.
“You okay?” Flipping the knives back inward.
“Huh? Oh yea. Thanks. Ray right?”
“That’s me.” Smiling.
“Where did you?”
“Long story. But I have a favor to ask of you” Her eyebrows knitted. Instead of talking in the open, where we now had every ones attention, she took us to a back room.
“So what is it…this favor?” She asked leaning against the wall. She was going back to being a badass, which she wasn’t pulling off in the least.
“Relax Josie. I know about your extra activities.” Hoping that would knock her down a peg. It did, seeing her face redden she gulped.
“What…what do you know?”
“Not a lot, but I can tell your good at it. Even if your doing in it broad freaking day light. In a star bucks no less.” Chuckling.
“I…mmmm” Looking down at the floor.
“Look I’m not going to pussy foot around the subject. I want you to work for me.”
“Why would I do that? I’m my own boss” She snapped back, frowning.
“Because I’m guessing your not doing so hot, since you still work at this dump. And I need a crew.” Sighing, I hated needing things.
“A crew for what?”
“My new business”
“Which is what?” Her glare got stronger, surprising a blonde could pull off such a intense face.
“I’m a transporter.” Then like magic she paled.
“You’re a…”
“Yea” Nodding cause she couldn’t seem to say my title.
After that I gave her sometime to think it over. She seemed to appreciate that, and headed back to her counter. I left without finishing my beer, no longer needing the slightly warm beverage. Somehow that blonde witch found my place, and a loud knock on my door had be pissed…it was 7 in the damn morning….on an Saturday.
“WHAT?” Pulling it open, then softening my glare.
“Okay” She says.
She was holding two large black bags, along with a coach pink purse. Her stunning while jeans and black heels, helped show how long her legs really were. A silk cream blouse, with a few pieces of gold jewelry sparkled in the rising sunshine. Inviting her in, I made us some coffee. The deal was that she could live with me, it wasn’t like I didn’t have the room. A four bedroom three bath house, with the standard living room, kitchen and den.
She was given her own bedroom, and I had already set up a good sized room for a work area. Think of it as working from home. She had asked if it was just the two of us, and I answered with I was looking for a third person. Rules were established, and we were already getting along thicker then thieves. Which I told her we were not. Thieves steal from others, we were getting paid to move some thing to another place. On where in there did we steal anything.
Since the objects to be moved were of high value, we had to come up with a few documents to cover our asses. This is where we needed a third person, someone who knew paperwork and the laws. Josie to my surprise was already on it, once she knew we needed a third. Standing over her as she occasionally sipped her hot coffee and typed away. We agreed men were not what we wanted unless we didn’t have a choice. I really don’t know how she did it, or even really care to know, but she had found a total of three woman that would suit our needs.
Now it was my job to recruit her, I started with the least knowledgeable one. With a wire tap, so Josie could not only hear what was being said, but also talk to me I went in. The conversation with this particular woman, was a freaking headache. She was so up in the clouds, that she made blonde look normal. Her saucy brown hair was pulled tight into a bun, while her black glasses framed what could only be called deer eyes. She was smart, but Josie imminently didn’t like her. Calling her and I quote, ‘foolish beginner’. I ended the meeting early, because frankly I needed a damn coffee.
Next I decided to go over the overly achieved one, she had more awards and crap under her belt then a black star ninja. But her attitude sucked, stuck up and bossy. Her father was some high ranking judge for the biggest courtroom in downtown, and she let it go way to far. Before I could get a word out she was bluntly trying to intimate me. Telling me she could have her daddy toss my ass into jail, to never be hear of again. I about bust out laughing when the trickling words of my hacker rang threw.
“Ditch the bitch. She needs a reality check” Scoffing. I said my goodbyes and walked away. No need to piss off the judges daughter, chuckling at the thought. Sighing Josie told me we had one more shot, or else we’d have to look out of state. Truthfully all I really wanted to do was drive, this sort of shit wasn’t for me. Pulling up to a skyscraper, I parked on the street.
“You sure she works here?” I asked.
“Positive, she’s an intern.” I groaned what the hell did we want with an intern. This meeting would be different, she hadn’t updated an address, so sending her a letter or even a call wasn’t possible. My recon work just got harder. Entering the lobby, and heading for the middle floor. Stepping out of the elevator, and there she was. Looking overly tired and bored. Frowning I found her looking like a long forgotten zoo animal, who had been trapped in the same meaningless cage setting for far to long.
Stepping to the desk, her dull looking green eyes looked up. She had red hair which was curly, but tired into a well managed pony.
“Can I help you?” She asked, not really wanting to.
“No, but I think I can help you” Leaning on the top part of the desk. Her eyes widened a bit, before she seemed to find me less amusing.
“Look I don’t swing that way” Huffing. Ohh so she thinks I’m a lesbian, well that’s new.
“No I think you took my words the wrong way. I don’t swing that way either love.” Again her eyes held mine, trying to figure out just what I wanted.
“Do you have an appointment, or are you just going to mess with me. Cause I have work to do” She wasn’t trying to be a bitch, but like I said she was caged to long.
“Yes I do, I’d like to have an appointment with you. That is if you can pull yourself away from the intense game of solitar you have going” Seeing the reflection behind her giving her away. Grinding her teeth, she stood up push on her desk.
“Listen hear..”
“Wait I’m sorry, that was a bit rude of me.” Sighing as I had her pausing with a bit of confusion.
“I’m not good at recon work. Look here’s the deal, me and my partner” Tapping the ear piece, which she took a look at.
“Are in need of someone with your skills, now if your sick of working a meaningless job, where the pay is about as good as your ever going to get. Give us a call” Dropping a card on her desk, before turning around.
“The names Ray, by the way. Have a good afternoon Trish” Waving as I got into the opening elevator. Dropping me off at the first floor, I walked across the street to a café.
“Great, now we have to look out of state.” Josie growled cause it meant more work for her.
“Take it easy, we haven’t lost yet”
“How are you so damn calm?” She barked.
“I have a very pleasant coffee in hand, and a great view of her job”
“You really think she’s going to work with us?”
“Yea I do” Chuckling as I saw some man look at me like I was crazy for talking to myself.
“You better be right” Sighing as I heard the chair squeak as she must be leaning back. It took all of three hours, and a lot of whinnying from Josie when Trish walked out. Two coffees later and a bagel and I was about to call it a night. She must have had a long shift, my card was in her hand as she kept looking at it. Finally her cell appeared and mine started to ring.
“Show time Josie” Her happy claps were ringing in my ear.
“Hello”
“This Ray?” She asked, as I watched her fidget around.
“It is, how are you Trish?”
“Fine…umm what kind of job are you offering me?”
“A better one then you have now.” Standing up I headed for my car.
“Yes, but what do I have to do?” Running her free hand threw the now let down mop of red.
“See that green mustang on the sidewalk?”
“Yea” Her head looking for my car.
“Get in it” From where I sat in the car, I could see she was scared.
“Are you going to kidnap me?”
“Ha no, I prefer not talking in the open where many ears can being somewhat bothersome.” Chuckling. Her footstep slowly made it to my car, as the door opened I hung up the cell. Her head lowered looking me in the eyes.
“You know I’ll fight you if your up to not good” Trying to give the attitude again.
“Fair enough, but I swear kidnapping woman isn’t my job” Still leaning my elbow on my door frame. Slipping into the car, the door closes. With the engine starting up, I give her a smile.
“Well now this is better” Hitting a button on the car, so the small screen pops up. Josie and her stunning good looks pops up.
“Josie this is Trish, Trish this is my partner Josie.” They look at each other, before Josie smiles.
“You’ve got a hell of a skill list Trish”
“Ohh thank you?” Not really comfortable about this at all.
“Look Trish, I’m starting a business. Your job would be to handle all the incoming requests, while also making sure we got paid and checking to see that whatever I am hauling is correct.”
“Hauling? Are you like running a trucking business” Josie and I laugh.
“Not quiet. I’m a Transporter, and Josie is what some would call a hacker. You dear Trish would be our recruiter.” Pulling down another street, we pass a few more over sized buildings.
“Wait so your running an illegal business”
“Nothing illegal about moving something from one place to another Trish. I just get paid to keep my mouth shut and drive” Looking at her before returning to the road. Her head hit’s the back of the seat, before she starts laughing like she’s lost her mind.
“Are you fucking kidding me? This is so wrong”
“I think your taking it a little to deep. You and Josie would be out of fire, I’m the one who gets the bullets shot at them, if something were to go wrong.” Pulling into the driveway of our house, Josie walks out.
“Where are we?” Trish asks, now seeing Josie.
“Our house, yours to if you decide to join us.” Without another word I get out. She’s left inside the car by herself, before the door opens.
“We can talk more inside, if you like if not there is a taxi at the end of our street. Which will take you home, he’s already been paid” Walking into the house with Josie.
“She’s not going to come” She says giving me a frown.
“Relax, she wouldn’t of called me if she didn’t want to.” A few minutes later our door opens and a different woman stands there. Trish had this look on her face that could of killed a blood from the local gang.
“I want to know everything I’m getting myself into. No secrets and no bullshit.” Crossing her arms, Josie and I smile at each other.
