Chapter 10
Charlie's P.O.V.
Today, I'm going to spend the whole day with my best friends.
I'm invited at Ashton's house, so I'm walking towards it now.
It's been a week since I've been at Luke's place, and we sorted everything out.
It is a beautiful day, the sun is out and there's no cloud to be seen at the sky.
I'm wearing jeans shorts, together with my all time black Vans and a white Nirvana tee.
By the time I've arrived at Ashton's house, I'm really exhausted.
Joy's already here, she slept over.
I knock at his door, and a few seconds later, Ashton answers it.
"Come on in, you're last!" He smiles widely, giving me a quick hug.
As I walk into the living room, I greet everyone by hugging them.
This friendcircle and hugging.
I keep Luke for last, so I can give him a kiss.
I hear the boys cooeing on the background, but I ignore it.
"Why the hell are you wearing a sweater anyways?" Calum asks Luke.
He responds by just shrugging his shoulders.
I give him a not-understanding look, but he shakes it off.
We have a great time laughing and playing Fifa, even though Ashton doesn't really like it.
Joy pokes me every now and then, giving me a weird smile, making me snicker.
Luke is acting a bit odd today, so I guess he's just tired.
That boy needs to go to bed on time.
Says the girl who spends her whole night on Tumblr.
A good hour later, we have nothing to do but hanging on couches.
Joy stands up, holding her finger up in the air.
"Guys!" She shuts us down.
"I have an idea."
We all look at her, wondering.
"Why don't we go to the beach? It's a private beach, so no one will see what we're doing." She winks, making us laugh.
"Seems like a great idea." Michael says, smiling like a kid on Christmas day.
The others nod, already making plans on what they're going to do, when Luke clears his throath.
"Uhm, I'll pass." He says quietly.
"What? You're mostly the first one at the door to leave when the beach is mentioned. Are you sick or something?" Calum says, and I'm really wondering what's going on with him.
"No, I just don't want to go."
"Well, we're leaving now, are you coming, Charlie?" Calum asks me, and I shake my head.
"I'm going to keep Luke company, you guys can go."
"Okay, you sure?"
I nod, and so they happily walk towards the door, minutes later, it's quiet.
"What's wrong with you?" I ask him, really wanting to know.
"What do you mean, I'm perfectly fine." He huffs, crossing his arms over his chest, revealing a lot of bracelets.
"Nice jewels you got there, Hemmings." I say, pointing at the festival bracelets and some rubber bands.
"Let me take a look at the Batman one."
He shoves it off his wrist and hands it to me.
I remember me buying it for him, that one day at the mall.
He kept asking for it, untill I finally gave in.
We had so much fun back then, I can't seem to get it that we've known eachother for four months now.
I smile at the memory, I really miss shopping.
The reason why I don't shop anymore? I gave up. I never seem to find a store that sells nice band shirts or some cool pants. They all sell the same.
Hipster galaxy print shit, overly priced basic stuff.
I hand the black rubber bracelet back to Luke, and he shoves up his sleeve to put it back.
What he doesn't know, is that I can clearly see a shitload of red marks, that I know way too well.
I grab his arm, pulling it towards me.
He tries to jerk back, but I thighten my grip around his wrist, making him wince.
I replace the bracelets, so it reveals at least twenty slashes, cuts and scratches.
When I look up to search his eyes, he already looks down.
"Why did you..."
"You hated me."
I tilt his head up, seeing his blue eyes already bloodshot and teared.
"Do you know how it felt to my when you jerked away, yelling at me that you didn't knew me anymore? When you left, I just lost my shit. I collapsed to the ground, punching some few things over. I cried, hard, for God knows how long. And eventually..."
He points at his arm, letting his shoulders hang.
I don't have words to say, I'm totally stunned by his actions.
Why didn't I saw this?
"Are you mad at me now?" He asks, looking at me, sadly.
I don't even overthink my actions, and I crash my lips onto his.
I feel his tears dripping in our kiss, making it a bit salty.
His lip is still a bit torn from the piercing, I really love the piercing.
It was kind off a surprise when I saw it, I thought he wanted his eyebrow pierced.
When I break this short kiss, I hug him, tight.
"I'd never be mad at you." I whisper, feeling his arms tighten up around my waist.
"Woah woah, am I interupting something here?" I hear someone say.
Joy.
"No, why the hell are you here? Aren't you suposed to be at the beach?" I ask.
"Well hello too. I forgot my sunglasses, so I quickly ran back. Are you guys sure you don't want to come?" She asks, hope in her green eyes.
"Maybe." Luke answers, smiling towards me.
"Okay, I hope to see you guys later!" She grins, making her wat to the door.
"But your arms.."
"Shh. I have bracelets. And so do you." He sooths me, strikin the back of my hair.
"Do you really want to go?" I ask, just to make sure he isn't forcing himself to go.
"Yeah, I guess I could use some distraction." He sighs.
"And besides, I still have my stuff here from the last time we went swimming."
I've never been to a beach before. Or maybe once, when I was three.
I'm really exited about this, though.
"Are we going to your house, to get your stuff?" He says, already swinging his backpack to his back.
I nod, standing up, grabbing his hand.
I love the way his fingers automaticly entwines with mine.
It sounds quite cheesy, doesn't it?
The walk to my apartment is quiet, but not an awkward-silence-help quiet.
I unlock the door, already making my way to my room.
"Just sit on the couch or whatever, I'll be done in five minutes." I inform him, and he just smiles at me.
God, dimples.
I take my jeansbag, throwing some stuff in I might need. A disposable camera, so I can put up the pictures in my room later. Some sunglasses.
I'm already putting my bikini on, just in case.
And last, some towels, I think two are enough.
"Ready to go?" I screech, being overly exited to go to the beach.
Luke laughs at my exitement, and he says that he texted Ashton for the right place.
On our way to the beach, we talk about everything and nothing.
I'm already having a great time, I'm having butterflies in my stomach of exitement.
When I get the view of the ocean, I really begin to get nervous.
But the good kind.
"You're kinda squeezing my hand there, Charlie." Luke laughs.
"Oh God, I'm so sorry, I'm just nervous." I explain, getting more and more closer to the sand.
I'm glad I didn't took the effort on putting on socks, so I just have to take of my Vans.
Luke does the same, and throws them into his backpack.
"Ooh, look who's here!" Joy yells, poking Ashton on his bare chest.
He looks over to us, and waves.
"Michael and Calum are in the water, for your information." Ashton says.
I lay down on the huge white blanket Joy has taken with her.
I'm probably as pale as the blanket.
The sun is burning on my skin, so I decide to take my shirt and shorts off.
I hope I look okay.
My bikini is a sort of aqua blue with black skulls printed on them.
I put my round sunglasses on my nose, and pull my hair together in a bun.
When I look to my left, I see Luke staring at me.
I swat him softly at his arm, and his cheeks turn a darker shade of pink.
"You look beautiful." He claims, looking down.
He takes of his shirt also, revealing a quite tanned torso, muscled too.
My goodness, this is the view of the year.
I'm drooling all over my boyfriend, way to go, Charlie.
I shake my head, laughing at my own stupid thoughts.
I quickly grab my bag, to get the camera out.
I want some nice pictures, my room needs an upgrade.
Before I can even take a photo, Joy grasps it out of my hands and stands up.
"Come on, strike a pose, love birds!" She says, very exited.
"What? What do I need to do?"
I dumbly ask.
"Just smile or something, you guys just need at least one or two pictures!"
I don't even know what to do, so I just smile.
Suddenly I feel Luke's arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him.
When I hear the camera click, Joy gasps.
"Oh my God, cutest ever! Come on, one more!"
I can't believe she's actually older than me, 16 days to be precise, she sometimes acts like she's a twelve year old.
Not overthinking my actions, I turn Luke's head to mine, and lightly kiss him.
I normally don't like socially affection, besides holding hands, but for once it couldn't hurt.
Again, I hear the camera click, so I open my eyes to see a widely smiling Luke.
"Guys! I can't even, so adorable! God. Ashton, let's make a picture like that too." She practicly pulls Ashton into a kiss, but I'm sure he likes it.
Snapped out of my thoughts, I feel myself being lifted up from the blanket, being throwed over a shoulder.
Luke.
I squeel uncontrolably and laugh inbetween.
When I'm being released, my legs connect with first cooling water, seconds later wet sand.
"You scared me there." I try to say seriously, but obviously, I fail.
I look into Luke's eyes, and dear Lord, those get me every time.
In the sunlight, they even shine more bright than usual,
and the blue is a lighter version of what it should be like.
If I could drown in his eyes, I probably would.
We keep on laughing about really stupid jokes and stories, not realising we're drifting off.
I've came to a point where I can't stand without wetting my hair, so I just wrap my arms around Luke's neck and my legs around his torso.
"You know, you should laugh more." Luke says.
"Why's that?"
"It makes me feel good. That sounds really cheese and stuff, but it's the truth." He says, right before our lips connect, once again.
I've always wanted to do this, just like in the movies.
The salty water really gives a twist to this kiss, but I guess I like it.
I think I can hear Calum whistle at us, without thinking, I put up my right middlefinger in the air.
Laying exhausted on the white blanket, we all almost fell asleep together.
And to be honest, I wouldn't mind if we actually did.
"We could better get going, before it gets really dark." Michael speaks up, and we all groan in agreement.
One by one, we're getting up and packing our stuff.
The sun has began to set, the sky has a pink-orange color, so I quickly snap another picture.
I think I got at least fifty photo's today, I love it.
The walk back home is quiet, but it's a comfortable quiet.
When Joy and I arrived at our apartment together with Ash and Luke, we say our goodbye's and go inside.
I bet I have a stupid grin on my face, but I don't care.
