Chapter 7 - Plan B

Y/n's POV

I stare at Taehyung in disbelief while he stares back into my eyes while cupping my face in his hands. I'm still in shock from the fact that we finally made it to safety and now he wants to go back out there and risk his life. I don't even understand how or what he plans on doing, the dinosaurs were kept a secret yet he thinks he knows how to stop them? How can you possibly fix a problem you didn't even know existed?! I know Tae is smart, but this is a suicide mission!

Lost in my own thoughts, I didn't realize that he was only mere inches away from my face, and slowing moving closer. Are you fucking kidding me right now? He's seriously not about to kiss me, is he? There's no way in hell I'm letting my first kiss be a goodbye kiss. I didn't want to kiss him, not like this, but I couldn't seem to pull myself away, mixed emotions are messing with my brain. I'm mad because I don't want Tae to try anything stupid, sad because I don't want him to leave because I don't want to lose him, and finally, happy because of our close proximity.

I finally came to my senses and was about to protest, but I was a little too late.

His lips came in contact with my skin.

He placed them gently,

on my forehead.

Phew~

I sighed in relief as he pulled back and gave me a sheepish smile and a slight head nod before turning around and jogging toward the stairs to exit the parking garage. I yelled his name but he never turned around, not once did he look back.

Taehyung's POV

I could hear her calling me, but I couldn't look back, tears were welling up in my eyes and I couldn't let her that, I had to remain strong for her, I didn't want to give her a reason to doubt me. I also don't know if I'd be able to stand to look at her without turning around to hold her in my arms and tell her everything was going to be okay, I'm sorry y/n, I don't have time right now.

I continued up several flights of stairs until I finally saw daylight and exited the parking garage. There were a few dinos nearby but they all seemed to be preoccupied and didn't notice me sneaking my way through the sea of cars in the parking lot, taking extra caution to not bump into any to set off their alarms. I pulled my car keys out of my pocket and mentally thanked y/n for choosing the GTR to ride in because it would surely be fast enough to outrun any dino.

I pressed the button on my little car remote and a beep-beep just a few rows away. I walked in the direction of the sound and spotted my car, surrounded by a pack of about 6 saltopuses. The noise my car made when I pushed the button must have attracted the curious creatures. Saltopuses were only about three feet tall but they are carnivorous. I do have a gun on me so I could easily take them out, but the sound of shots being fire would definitely attract unwanted company.

I kicked a rock around on the ground trying to think of a way to get to my car without being eaten- wait. The rock. I picked up the small piece of gravel and smiled as I brought it up to my face for a quick examination, then launched it as far as a could. I heard a metallic sound in the distance as it collided with a random car, which was now making a loud series of alarm noises.

The saltopuses looked up in alert before sprinting in the direction of the car alarm. I hastily scrambled over to my car and got in. Unfortunately, revving my engine was just as loud, if not louder, than that car alarm, and therefore quickly caught the attention of the saltopuses, as well as other bigger dinos in the parking lot.

They made their way toward me at devilish speeds, I wasn't worried though. Putting my beloved car into gear I sped out of the parking lot and through the streets of town, passing the occasional dino along the way who would look up but didn't bother chasing me because I was out of sight before they even had the chance to decide if they wanted to chase me or not.

Just outside the edge of town, I spotted the all-too-familiar Science Center. Luckily, there were no dinos in the area as they had all come from here and dispersed into the city without a second glance. I walked up the doors, well, there used to be doors there, but now it's just a giant hole from the destructive dinos. I walked up to the hole in the side of the building, thankful that I didn't have to worry about getting through any type of security, only to be met with the stench of chemicals and death. There were dead bodies everywhere, no sign of life. People who work here are quite important to the development of the world's future, so I really hope they didn't all die... but since they had to face all the dinos at once, it's not unlikely.

With no need for a map, I swiftly made my way through the broken-test-tube-covered and body-littered floor to the elevators. Thankfully they were still functional, I pressed the button to take me far unground to the basement. The basement level was restricted, so pressing this button caused a keypad to slid out of a small flap in the wall, asking for a passcode. I quickly typed in 'PINK PRINCESS', one of my eomma's many nicknames along with 'Car Door Guy', 'Third guy from the left', and the most common one 'Worldwide Handsome'. But 'Pink Princess' was the one nickname only the people closest to her knew, only her family knew.

The lights on the keypad lit up green and a small ding was heard as it retracted back into the wall. The elevator made it's way down and the doors opened up on the basement level. Since only certain people can come down here, there were no dead bodies anywhere.

I made my way through the halls until I came across a door with the label 'Mon Studio'. I pressed the small round button next to the door to be greeted by a metal claw coming out of the wall holding a Petri dish with a small short needle in the center. Aish, why does the Kim family have to be so extra. I lifted my hand up and jabbed my thumb onto the needle, letting a few drops of blood run into the petri dish before it retracted back into the wall to run the blood sample for a quick test. A robotic female voice then said, "Welcome, Kim Namjoon".

Well thank goodness it wasn't a fingerprint scanner because while my dad and I have the same blood, we have different fingerprints. I thought to myself before waiting for the door to slide open and walking into the room.

"Appa?" I called. There, sitting a chair with his elbows on his knees and his head in my hands was my father. He looked up at me and I could see the tear stains on his face, knowing the billions of dollars worth of damage that has been done, the years of research wasted, and the numerous lives that have been taken.

I didn't even bother asking what happened, that's not important now, now we just need to stop it. Instead, I went straight into asking "What's Plan B? What are you doing just sitting here Appa? You always have a Plan B, what it is?!" I was irritated by his lack of action.

"Taehyung, my son, I'm so glad you're safe," he reached for me.

"Don't change the subject," I snapped.

"Look Tae, Yeontan's here too," my father changed the subject again and pointed to the corner where my genetically modified, horse-sized dog made his way out of the shadows. I wasn't lying to y/n when I said my father bred dogs, but of course, it was more like a single dog, and he more just a side project. My father does much more than breed one dog, he owns and operates the entire Science Center.

I'm happy to see my beloved pup, but that's not why I'm here.

"Plan B?" I asked one more time before I force it out of him.

He sighs and looks to his left, I notice a large metal cylinder and begin to question his sanity.

"A water heater?" I ask.

"It's not a water heater," he chuckles. "It's a gas tank".

My eyes widen as I turn to examine the tank, or more like, bomb. Turns out, you need a thumbprint to set it off. Great.

"I know what you're thinking Tae, but we can't set it off. Yes, it will take care of all the dinos, once the gas reaches them, it will turn all their internal organs to dust. But the thing is, we are not certain what it will do to humans. If it works properly, it won't cause any harm to them. Even if it doesn't work properly it won't cause death but there's just no telling. I don't think I'd be able to handle it if I was approached every day by people complaining that they had gone blind, or maybe grown extra limbs due to the gas. We never had time to test it before the breach happened," he explained.

"I think its worth the risk," I reasoned with him. It was then that I noticed a small jar of liquid sitting on his desk. "You have an antidote..." I came to the realization of what it was.

"Yes," he sighed grabbing the vile. "But it's not quite enough for two grown men. Taehyung-"

He didn't get to finish what he was going to say, I knew he would only protest against setting off that bomb so landed a hard blow to the side of his head, just enough to knock him out. Besides, he caused this, so he's gonna help me fix it, no matter what.

Grabbing his wrist, I take the jar of liquid out of his hand to stuff it in my pocket, and drag him over to the thumbprint scanner. I press the unconscious man's thumb into the scanner, causing flashing red alarms and sirens to go off throughout the whole building. The timer on the gas tank reading 1:59, 1:58, 1:57- "Shit, Yeontan we gotta go!" I yelled before making my way to the elevator. Once we reached floor we started sprinting toward the exit. Just as we were about to the door, there was a loud explosion. Fuck. My GTR may outrun the dinos but there's no way it will beat that smoke back to the mall.

So instead, I hopped onto my genetically modified dog's back as he took off in a flash, managing to stay a safe distance away from the rapidly approaching smoke. In no time we were making our way down into the mall's parking garage. Not wanting to drop the glass bottle containing the antidote while pushing my way through the crowd of people, I poured the entire thing into my mouth, taking care not to swallow it.

Much to my gratitude, y/n was in the exact spot where I left her, making her easy to find.

"Taehy-" she called but didn't get to finish celebrating my return as my lips smashed onto hers cutting her off midsentence. I leaned over her and used to fingers as I tilted her head up to be sure that the liquid I transferred into her mouth would go straight down her throat. Our lips still locked together as the thick white gas engulfed us, screams from the crowd around us filling our ears.

I pulled out of the kiss and cradled her head to my chest, her arms wrapping around my waist. We stayed like this for a few minutes until the gas cleared.

Once we could see again, we were horrified at the sight in front of us.
