Chapter 2 - Locked Out
Y/n's POV
"Thanks for getting me out of there," I tell Taehyung as we walk down the street toward my house. Tae and I were never really close friends, but we are friends. We've never actually hung out besides when he held that study group for our class. He has walked me home from school a few times, but that's only because we are neighbors and so he has to take that route anyway.
"It's no problem. But we both know Jimin wasn't going to actually do anything forcefully," he replies. "That's why he put the keys in his pants for you to grab, he was trying to get you to do something willingly."
"Yea, he has good intentions," I nod in agreement. We arrive at my house, I reach for the handle of the door it's locked. "Shit. My brother is staying at a friends house tonight, he was supposed to leave the door unlocked for me because I lost my keys," I explain to Tae.
"You're welcome to stay at my house tonight if you'd like" he offers and I happily nod my head as he smiles down at me, grabbing my hand to lead me next door to his house, or should I say mansion. We walk up the steps to his beautiful house which makes my house look like a dollhouse. He releases my hand to scan his thumb to unlock the door. Pft so much for dealing with lost keys, I scoff to myself. We enter his house as he leads me upstairs to show me which guest room I'll be staying in, he then disappears for a few minutes, allowing me some time to look around the room, only to return with a pair of sweatpants and a plain white T-shirt.
"Here," he hands them to me. "Feel free to shower and then change into these, they'd be much more comfortable to sleep in than what you have on." I smile at him genuinely and thank him for his kind gesture of allowing me to stay here for the night and lending me clothes. "After you're done, come back downstairs and we can watch a movie," Tae says as he gives me a boxy smile.
After about five minutes of trying to figure out how to turn the water on, I finally showered and changed clothes. Tae was right, these are much comfier than my school clothes, even though they are way too big. I didn't mind, I was a fan of oversized clothing. I fix my hair up into a bun then make my way downstairs to find Tae sitting on the couch with a blanket around him and the remote in his hand, scrolling through movies on Netflix. I plop down on the opposite side of the couch as him as he asks me if the movie 'Zootopia' is okay. I give him the okay and he plays the movie. I hear the microwave beep as Tae throws the blanket off him and jumps up yelling "the popcorn is ready!" I couldn't help but chuckle at his childish side. I never got to see that side of him because I only ever saw him in school, where he constantly displayed just how much of a genius he truly is.
My eyes wandered around and I wondered what his father did for a living to own such a luxurious home. I knew Tae's mother was killed in some freak accident when he was very little, but I've never heard anything about his father, in fact, I've never even seen him, which is odd because my house is right next door. All I know is that his father did eventually remarry, but I've never seen his spouse either.
I was a little chilly so I decided to grab the blanket Tae carelessly threw onto the floor. A few seconds later he came back in holding a bowl of popcorn.
"Hey!" he pouted, "you stole my blanket." I playfully stuck my tongue out at him as he sat back down, placing the bowl of popcorn on the opposite side of him as opposed to in-between us. "I'm not sharing this popcorn unless you share that blanket," he teased. Knowing I was defeated, I groaned and moved closer to him until we were sitting shoulder to shoulder so the blanket could fit around us both. He lifted his arm and put it around me, "I hope you don't mind," He exclaimed, "it's just more comfortable this way." I nodded understandingly and also because I didn't mind at all, not one bit. But I didn't want him to think I was that easy so I teasingly said, "This can't be the only blanket you have in this huge house."
"Nope. It's not," he responded simply.
I couldn't help but smile to myself at his blunt response as I watched Judy the rabbit hand out ticket after ticket after ticket. But there was something I was really curious about, "So, speaking of this house," I started, "what does your father do for a living to own such a place?" I felt him tense up next to me before he answered, "he's an animal breeder". "Oh that's so cool! You know, I love animals, I actually work at the pet shop in the mall," I tell him. "So what does he breed? Like dogs or something?". "Yes, actually, he does breed dogs," Tae replied.
You couldn't help but feel like there were some missing puzzle pieces, but you didn't bother asking any further questions because he didn't seem to enjoy talking about the topic much. You let your head hit his shoulder as you felt yourself drifting off to sleep.
Taehyung's POV
Y/n looks absolutely adorable sleeping. I'm so glad she knows better than to let Jimin ruin her. I heard soft snores coming from her as her head fell onto my shoulder. I feel bad for giving her the cold shoulder when it came to my father, but there are just things she doesn't need to know at the moment. I also felt kinda guilty having her lean on me like this, she is way out of my league, I'm the class geek and she's on multiple sports teams, she'd probably freak out if she knew she was this close to me. Should I wake her up to go to bed? Nah, it'd be rude of me to disturb her sleep. I yawned and let my head fall on top of hers as I slowly drifted to sleep.
