Noctis

We are at the base in Iran looking over previous rogue attacks here. So far there are no patterns. They seem to be attacking in any area and aren't going anywhere in specific. This is making it a lot harder to pinpoint where their base is or where they are trying to attack next. I groan aloud as I sit down and slouch in my chair.

"It's alright Lieutenant, we will find them," Dax reassured me.

"I know we will, I just hope we find them before it's too late. I am starting to see no end in this fight," I admit.

Silence befalls the room as my platoon knows I am right. There is a chance we won't find where they are hiding and they will kill a lot more innocent human soldiers. These killings are just to get to me...so maybe I should let them take me to stop this madness and bloodshed.

"Stop that," Kai tells me, "I know what you are thinking and if you just hand yourself over then the war will only get worse. They will attack your parents and your pack. You will break Ash's heart."

I know she is right. She is almost always right. I nod to her and goes back to thinking. I think our brains are all fried from the amount of thinking we have been doing.

"Come on," I tell them as I stand up.

"Where are we going?" Silas wonders.

"Just follow me. If we keep racking out brains like this, we will never come up with a plan."

They all follow me out of the planning tent and I direct them towards the higher ups tent. In there there is alcohol and I think we could all use that right now. Alcohol won't get us drunk, but it will help us relax. I tell them to wait there as I walk inside the tent. I pull out a bottle of tequila and grab four small cups. I walk out of the one tent and head to my tent. Once we are all in the tent, I hold up the tequila and the cups.

"We have tequila in our bases?" Silas asks shocked.

"Don't question it Si, free booze!" Kai exclaims and we all chuckle.

I pour a shot into each of the cups and hand them out. We cheers and then down a shot. A few shots later, my phone rings with an unknown number. I hold the phone to my hear as I pick it up.

"Lieutenant Noctis Kilo," I tell the person on the other end of the line.

"Hey Noctis," his handsome voice greets, "It's Ash."

"Hey Ash, how are you?" I wonder.

"I am okay, I would be better if I were with you right now."

I roll my eyes at his words with a smile on my face, "I have been gone maybe two weeks Ash, how can you miss me so much?" I ask.

"Because you are my mate. Don't you miss me?" He pouts.

"Of course," I reply.

"So, are you busy right now?" Ask asks.

"I am just having a couple drinks with my platoon. Why?"

"I just wanted to get to know you more. Can we talk tomorrow night?"

"Sure," I smile. I look up to see Kai being held back by Dax as she is trying to claw apart a scared Silas. "Sorry Ash, but I have got to go. My platoon...well they are...I don't even know what is going on. Bye," I tell him.

"Goodbye Noctis."

I hang up the phone and shove it in my pocket as I walk up to the three soldiers. "I was looking away for two seconds. What happened?" I demand an answer.

"That son of a bitch told me that he believes she-wolves should stay at the packs and not fight!" Kai yells and I glare at Silas who looks like he is about to shit his pants.

"That's not what I meant! She took it the wrong way!" Silas insists.

"What did you mean then Silas?" I ask through gritted teeth.

"What I said was that I understand how male wolves feel when they want their mates to stay away from the battle field. When I find my mate I will probably worry so much about her being out there fighting that I won't fight as good myself."

I guess I can see where he is coming from, "I understand how you feel..." he smirks at Kai, "However, she-wolves have the right to make the decision and you will have to deal with it," Kai then smirks.

Everyone soon goes back to their tent and I lay down on my cot. How are we going to get these rogues? How am I meant to stop them from getting what they want? I am just one person. I sigh and close my eyes, willing the sleep to consume me.

Ash

After watching Noctis run away in her snowy wolf I went to see Quinton. He was in his office waiting for me. I knocked on the door and he told me to come in. I sat on one of the leather chairs across from him.

"What happened Ash? Why did you stop communicating with us? We were all so worried," Quinton wondered.

"I'm sorry Quinton, I found my mate at the rogue camp and went to find her," I explained.

"You found your mate? That's amazing! When can we meet her?" Quinton smiled.

"Well...you already met her."

"Wha....Noctis?" He wondered.

"Yes."

"I'm sorry that you won't be able to see her for a while."

"Thanks Quinton. Do you mind if I have her number? She said you had it."

"Sure."

He passed me a phone number written on a piece of paper. I smiled to thank him and left the office to head to my room.

That was two weeks ago and I am starting to get anxious to call Noctis. I have been putting it off because I didn't want to seem desperate, but I really want to hear her voice. I look at the clock and it is 12:00 in the afternoon right now. That means it is about 8:30 where she is. I dial her number and wait for someone to pick up.

"Lieutenant Noctis Kilo," she answers with her angelic voice.

"Hey Noctis, it's um me, Ash."

"Hey Ash, how's it going?"

"It's alright, it would be a lot better if you were here right now though," I tell her and want to face palm myself for how cheesy that was.

I can hear her giggle in the background, "It's been two weeks Ash, do you really miss me that much?" She wonders.

"Of course I do, you are my mate. Don't you miss me?"

"I do miss you Ash."

I love the way she says my name, "Are you guys right now?"

"Um...kind of. I am having a few drinks with my platoon. We have all been pretty stressed with these rogues. Why are you asking?"

"Oh, I just wanted to talk with you, to get to know each other better. Can we talk tomorrow?"

"Sure," she pauses for a minutes and I can hear struggling in the back ground, "Sorry Ash, my platoon...well they are....I don't even know. I have to go, bye."

"Goodbye Noctis," I say as she hangs up the phone.

I lay back on my bed and sigh. Why can't my mate just be normal? Why can't she just want to stay on a pack territory and not go to war?

Don't talk about her like that, Flame scolds.

Don't you miss her? Aren't you worried about her? She is just a regular she-wolf against so many rogues.

She is not a regular she-wolf Ash. She has alpha blood and on top of that she is a changed white wolf. That should mean something to you. Now, give you mate a little confidence.

She has alpha blood?

Yes, she does. You can't tell because she left her pack for the army.

Why would she do that? It doesn't sound very responsible.

Flame sighs, I can't tell you everything. She needs to tell you what happened herself.

Thanks Flame.

Anytime Ash.

I get up and head to the backyard to join in on some training. I can't wait until tomorrow so I can learn more about Noctis. I walk right up to Josh and he smiles at me.

"How's it going man?" He asks.

"I'm alright. I just got off the phone with Noctis," I grin.

"That explains the goofy smile. You here to train?"

"Of course."

Josh and I go head to head in a fight. I get into my fighting stance while Josh gets into his. Josh attacks first like always and tries to tackle me. I side step and kick his back to make him fall. I wait for him to recover and stand up.

"You have a few more tricks up your sleeve," Josh comments.

That is true. I have been with the rogues for a while and they have harsh sparing against each other. Some even die. Josh goes to punch my jaw and I lean back to evade it; however, he punches me in the stomach as I do so causing me to stumble.

"You have a few new tricks as well," I tell Josh.

"All thanks to your mate," Josh smirks.

I feel Flame grow angry at the sound of Josh fighting my mate. I run up to him and throw an uppercut. He falls back to I pin him down. I take a deep breath as I feel my eyes changing to a glowing blue. I feel Flame calm down and I get back to the fight. I put one have around his throat and wait for him to give up.

"Shit man, I thought you were going to kill me," Josh nervously chuckles

"I can handle Flame, Josh. Maybe next time don't mention fighting out mate though."

He makes an 'o' with his mouth, "If it makes you feel any better, I only fought with her once. She usually stuck with her platoon."

"Okay. I needed that, thanks. Is she really the leader of her platoon?" I ask Josh and he nods. "Wow. That's amazing."

Told you she can handle herself, Flame comments.

I roll my eyes. "How did she get all those scars?" I ask Josh, remembering the day I say her on the training field.

"I think I will let her tell you. It was all from the army though. That girl has some stories," Josh whistles.

I wonder what kind of stories he means. Probably not good ones and why would an alpha daughter leave her pack, become rogue and go to the military? I need answers to these questions and hopefully tomorrow I will get them.

The Next Day

After breakfast I head to my room and take out my phone to call Noctis. It is seven over there and I think that would be late enough. The phone rings quite a few times and I think she may not answer. I see her face pop up on the screen. It is dark and she is in a full uniform with a helmet on.

"Hello?" Noctis whispers.

"Noctis hey! Why are you whispering?" I wonder.

"Shhh, I can't talk long sorry. There is something going on in the forest that we have been called to," she whispers, not making eye contact with me because she is looking at her surroundings.

"Sorry, I didn't realize. Are you alright?" I whisper.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she looks beside her and I can see Dax standing there.

"We are getting close Noctis. I suggest you wrap it up," Dax whispers.

She nods and looks back to me, "Sorry Ash, I have to go. I will call you lat..."

She cuts herself off as I hear a snapping of a twig. I can only see the side of her pants and some of the ground right now. I decide to stay quiet.

"Where is Platoon 103?" Noctis demands.

"Oh, I regret to inform you but Platoon 103 is dead," a man sarcastically says.

"What do you want?" Noctis questions.

"Oh honey, don't you know already? I want you," he says the last part in a harsh tone.

There is silence for a moment. Why isn't anyone attacking? The camera moves for a minute and someone else takes the phone. They hold it up and I can see a hundred or more rogues all standing there. The camera turns to Noctis and she smiles sadly at me. She mouths 'sorry' before I see her walk towards the leader of the rogues, Killian. Killian grabs her roughly and smirks at the platoon.

"Say goodbye to your precious Lieutenant," Killian smirks.

All of the rogues then leave and Dax looks at the screen as Kai and Silas come into view.

"I'm sorry Ash, we will do everything we can to get her back," Dax promises.

"Did that really just happen?" I whisper.

"Yes, we are truly sorry, but you saw how many rogues there were. We couldn't take that many on, even with Noctis helping."

"I understand, thanks guys. I hope we find her soon."

I have a feeling this is going to take a long time, Flame says, sadness in his voice.
