Chapter Four: The spell
Wanda left her Cottage and snapped her fingers making the door close. She went back over and the cottage full of bear carvings now had potions and a cauldron.
"The last time I did this was for a prince," Wanda said making the cauldron light up, "he demanded I give him the strength of ten men, and he gave me this for a spell," Wanda showed Loki a ring with two axes crossed over each other, "a spell that would change his fate."
"And did he get what he was after?" Loki asked
"Oh! Yes! And made off with an especially attractive mahogany cheese board."
Wanda started grabbing ingredients for Loki's spell. Weeds, objects and a strand of Loki's hair. Wanda stirred the cauldron making the end of her spoon melt away. She covered her face with something before adding one last ingredient. The cauldron started getting brighter and Loki was fascinated. Until Wanda covered his eyes from the bright light and the spell was complete. Wanda took some pliers and took out a small cake.
"Uh… A cake?" Loki asked confused
"You don’t want it⁈" Wanda asked
"Yes! I want it! You’re sure if I give this to my father? It will change my fate?"
"Oh, trust me! It’ll do the trick, dearie."
Loki was escorted out with the cake and was told to expect the carvings within a fortnight. That's when Wanda tried to remember something about the spell but she forgot. Loki turned to ask because he heard her mumble but he was back at the ring of stones. Confused, he just went home. There, Thor was entertaining the Lords by singing about Thanos and how he will avenge Odin after their first fight. Loki snuck into the kitchen with the cake. He made it look presentable and went to find Odin. But Odin walked into the kitchen.
"Loki!" Odin said relieved.
"Father⁈ Oh… Uh… I… Um…" Loki stuttered
"Oh, I’ve been worried sick!"
"You… You were?" Loki was shocked
"I didn’t know where you’d gone or when you’d come back! I didn’t know what to think of…! Oh, look at your clothes!"
"Oh, my horse threw me. But I’m not hurt!"
"Well, you’re home now! So that’s the end of it."
"Honestly?"
"I’ve pacified the lords for now. You’re brother's out there 'entertaining' them. Of course, we both know a decision still has to be made."
Loki gave Odin a disappointed look, turned and picks up the plate of tart
"What’s this?" Odin asked
"It’s a peace offering. I made it, for you!" Loki said handing it to him
"You made this for me?"
Odin took a bite only to shiver at the taste. It definitely wasn't a nice tasting spell but Loki was hoping it would make Odin change his mind about the wedding. It didn't seem to work. Odin took a drink to swallow it down and escorted Loki up to the throne room. Only for him to suddenly grab a hold of the closest wall because he suddenly wasn't feeling well. Loki tried to ask about the marriage again but Odin was clearly sick so Loki just took Odin to his room.
Thor was ready to show everyone how he would kill Thanos with a statue of a bear. The Lords found Odin and tried to ask about who Loki would marry. Odin explained he wasn't feeling well but they would have an answer soon. Loki continued to take Odin to his room and laid him down in bed. Loki let him rest and was still hoping that spell would work. Odin rolled off the bed onto the floor. Loki tried to ask if he should tell everyone the wedding was off but only got an unusual groan from him.
Confused, Loki went over to check on him. Odin stood up but something was wrong. He was bigger, taller even. The bed sheet fell off Odin to reveal a big, black bear. Loki yelled and backed away out of shock. Odin approached him but stopped and looked at his shadow when Loki yelled out, 'bear'. Odin tried to fight off the non-existent bear until Loki made him realise the bear was him. Odin took a mirror from a drawer and saw a bear staring back at him. Odin had a little freak-out, breaking the bed, tripping over things and bringing down a bannister.
"Father?" Loki asked.
Odin took the bannister off him and looked at Loki.
"You're… You're a bear!" Loki said shocked and Odin was wondering how this happened, "Why a bear! Oh, that scaffy witch gave me a gammy spell!!"
Odin looked at him enraged.
"It's not my fault⁈ I didn't ask her to change you into a bear. I just wanted her to change…" that's when Loki realised what Wanda did, "you."
Odin roared at him. Downstairs, Thor heard the roar and started to get suspicious. Odin walked back and forth wondering what to do while Loki sat on the broken bed.
"There's no point in having a go at me! The witch is to blame!" Loki said annoyed.
Loki had to find Wanda and get her to fix this. Meanwhile, Odin tried to find something to wear and he put his eye patch back on. Odin took the blanket and left the room. Loki tried to stop him. Odin wanted to speak to Thor or Frigga but Loki warned him not to talk to Thor because if he sees Odin like this, he's dead. Thor cane up the stairs and Odin wandered off. Loki chased after him. Loki tried to stop Odin by taking the sheets off him. Odin covered himself.
"You're covered with FUR! You're not naked! It's not like anyone's gonna see you!" Loki told him.
He spoke too soon. Because a made was in the hallway next to them. Odin waved to her before she ran off scared. Thor found her and asked what was wrong. After a lot of stuttering, she revealed that there was a bear in the castle. Loki was trying to get Odin out of the castle but Odin just wandered around.
They heard the Lords and Thor coming so they ran. Two different ways. Odin tried hiding but he was having trouble due to his bigger size. He walked into a room to see Frigga practising the same magic Loki uses. Frigga noticed and was in shock. Loki tried to find Odin and hide from his brother. Loki then found the mess Odin made and went into the room with him and Frigga.
"Start explaining," Frigga told Loki.
"A witch turned Father into a bear. It's NOT my fault. We've got to get out of the castle. I need your help!" Loki explained.
Frigga wasn't convinced enough to help.
Oh, alright! I'll stop giving Thor deserts for two... THREE weeks!" No response from Frigga, "okay, fine! A year."
Frigga was quiet, "alright, I'll help you two."
