Chapter Five: Father and Son time
Thor and the Lords were still searching for Odin with no luck. But then Frigga started to use her magic. She had bear noises and used a chicken in the shadows to make a bear figure. Once Thor pointed that out, everyone started chasing Frigga's magic. Meanwhile, Loki had gotten into a new outfit and grabbed two random daggers ready to help his father escape the castle. Frigga called the two over saying it was safe to come out.
Odin was knocking into everything making things fall on the ground. By this point, Frigga's magic had led everyone to the roof where she locked them out. And the bear was gone. The three Lords teased Thor saying how the bear obviously flew off or was taken by a giant bird. Thor just tried to get in but, of course, the only door back in was locked. Meanwhile, back downstairs, Loki, Frigga and Odin were almost out of the castle. They were escaping through the kitchen but the maid from earlier and two others were there. Frigga used her magic to scare them away. Odin didn't want to leave Frigga.
"She'll be fine. Won't you, mother?" Loki asked.
"I'll be fine. Now go before Thor and the Lords find you," Frigga said.
"Now, I'll be back soon. Go on and help yourself to anything you want, as a reward," Loki smiled and left.
Frigga looked around the kitchen and saw the cake that Odin ate. Thor and the Lord had escaped the roof... by making a rope out of their trousers. Loki and Odin walked to the ring of stones where Loki saw the Whisps. But they wouldn't show up to lead them to the cottage. Loki thought it was because Odin was there. Odin wasn't believing any of this. Loki tried to explain what happened but Odin just went into the forest to try to find the cottage. As Loki followed his father, he soon recognized the area they were in and led the rest of the way.
And he found it. Loki walked in but the place was abandoned. Odin definitely didn't believe Loki now. Loki tried to use his magic to make Wanda appear but nothing happened. Loki walked in further setting off a trap. A ball rolled down some scaffolding, hit a wooden bear carving on wheels that hit a pole, sending a knife flying over the cauldron and right next to Loki.
The knife had cut a string with a potion attached to it. It lit up revealing Wanda's head explaining that she was out of stock right now but had some files on the table for any information. In the middle was something for Loki so he poured it in.
"Prince, I'm off to the Wickerman Festival in Stornoway and won't be back till spring. There's one bit I forgot to tell you about the spell. By the second sunrise, your spell will be permanent, unless you remember these words," the colour around Wanda changed to red, "Fate be changed, look inside, mend the bond torn by pride," the colour changed back.
"'Fate be changed... Mend the bond.' What does that mean?" Loki asked
"One more time," back to red, "Fate be changed, look inside, mend the bond torn by pride," and back to normal, "that's it. Ta-ta. And thank you for shopping at the Crafty Carver."
And with that, the message ended. Loki tried another potion to get her back but it only started the menu again. Loki then just poured them all in hoping something would happen. The only thing that happened was an explosion, destroying the whole cottage. Loki was losing hope. As much as Loki wanted Odin to change, he still loved his father. Now he would marry any of the Lord's daughters just to please or even have his father back. Loki made a shelter for them both as it started raining.
Loki promised Odin that they could sort everything out tomorrow. Odin only turned away. Loki fell asleep dreaming of the times were him and Odin were really like father and son. Back when Loki was still a child. Now Loki is all grown up and mature but he still wants love and support from his father. The next morning, Loki woke up to Odin setting up breakfast.
"Good morning," Loki said.
Odin roared a good morning.
"So... What's all this supposed to be?"
Odin made it seem obvious it was breakfast. Loki just sat down at the makeshift table, putting his daggers there. Odin tried to tell him off for it.
"Sorry. I don't speak bear," Loki told him.
Odin sighed and mimed that he didn't want weapons on the table. Loki sighed and put them away. Odin used a knife and fork made of sticks to try and cut some berries he found near a creek. It just hit Loki in the face so he ate them with his paws.
"Find those by the creek, did you?" Loki asked
Odin nodded
"They're nightshade berries," Odin just ate them not understanding, "They're poisonous."
Odin immediately spat them out and tried to drink away the poison.
"Where did you get this water? It has worms," Loki told him.
Odin spat out the water but the worms stayed in his mouth. He swallowed them and toppled over sending the table flying. Loki chuckled and told Odin to follow him. They arrived at a lake where Loki caught some fish to eat. Of course, Odin didn't want to eat it raw so Loki reluctantly cooked it. He tried some before just eating it up like an animal. Well, he is one. Odin tried to seem more polite and asked for two more.
Loki caught two more, cooked them and Odin ate them up again before asking for four more. Loki was not ready to try to catch four more so he made Odin get them himself. Odin took off his eye patch and went onto the lake to catch them. He wasn't doing very well. One jumped out and hit him in the face before he just tumbled in the water. Loki got in and showed his father how to do it. Odin just stood there with his mouth open trying to catch one.
One tried to get in his throat before spitting it out and finally catching one. Loki was so proud of him. Odin continued to catch fish while Loki watched, happy. Loki caught one and showed Odin before the fish tried to break free, sending Loki flying into the water. The two continued to try to catch fish until it became fun and games. And they were finally having fun together. Loki got out for a moment and watched Odin eat another fish before walking off. Loki ran after him.
