Chapter 7 - Geeks and Dreams (Morality)

*Important: Italicized sections that are surrounded by brackets such as these [ ] are thoughts one of the personalities has within their brain.*

Her eyes glowed a bright white into the still night. Those that surrounded her all had looks of anticipation on their faces, yet only one person in the whole group would understand all of the words the girl would prophesied. She was hovering several feet in the air and her hands were open out towards the horizon.

:

"I say to you. There is one who will fix the rest that almost none of you realize is even here in the first place. They will make it clear that they do not understand here. While the body heals, they will be here. Recovery will be fast, but the mind is slow. From the deeds they do will rise a hero, one we will have known was that for years. A mind that will discover what they have been afraid to seek for beyond their fears. To him I say these words, that ring loud and clear: Follow not where others lead you, but where your heart draws you near." Her hair was long and coppery in color, her skin had a golden tint to it and her body was surrounded by a solid white dress that billowed around her in the clearing. She sunk to the forest floor where everyone began to celebrate. What they had heard was no doubt different than the words she had spoken, but she didn't care about them. Instead she walked up to the single outlier, his glasses pushed up on his face.

:

"What was that?" he asked in awe and bewilderment.

"I had a prophecy to tell. And there's a couple more pieces I must say, but first I wanted to tell you that all of this knowledge mustn't leave this world until the time comes. Is that understood?"

"I suppose so Carefree. I just wanna be here for you."

"Uh, huh. I must tell you that we will drift apart."

"What? But I could never stop caring about you. I won't let that happen."

"You don't have to stop caring about me. You just have to make room for another. As soon as I have left the common building you will wait until a report comes on and the hospital is once again used. When it is used you will know everything about the prophecy and you will remember everything you may have once forgotten regarding it."

"Okay..."

"A boy I will almost never meet will carry out the prophecy. When the time comes you will figure out a way to tell him that a kiss will heal him..."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It took me a moment to realize where I was. The room was both dim and bright at the same time, for there was a light peaking through the rooms windows, yet still the room was soft and almost hazily dim in my line of sight. I briefly wondered what my dream was about and when the wave of familiar happiness enveloped me, I realized what my dream had entailed.
I had been in the shared brain. With Carefree, or Cheri. All of the others had been there and we were at a large bonfire type occasion. The fire hadn't yet been lit because the sun had not set behind the horizon. I could only recall the first half of my dream, but I chose to ignore it in favor of looking to see if Logic had returned from checking on Thomas yet and to get some food if he hadn't.
I glanced over at the cot across the room from where I had been sitting. Prince had his head resting next to Anxiety's body on the edge of the cot. His eyes were closed and he appeared to be asleep. I shrugged my cardigan off of my shoulders and placed it around the softly snoring royal. He snuggled into it as I shuffled away.
:
[So what had my dream been about again? I don't remember all of it, but I seem to think it was important. Like a stroke of lightning, it hit me. I had been dreaming about Cheri and the other brain. There was an unlit bonfire and some sort of prophecy. We exchanged sentiments and then what happened? In the actual memory, I proceeded to party with the others and get painstakingly drunk, or high. I couldn't recall which. But in this dream that's not what happened. Was it?
I was talking with Cheri about something. She predicted something about our lives. She said that it was no surprise to her that we would grow apart. There was something said about how to save someone, I think. Was is Anxiety? Did I need to tell him something? But how could I? She never showed me how to enter that world when another was in it other than herself. As she was weaker, would it be more difficult to break into that world while Anxiety was trapped inside.
It's unfair that he gets to go to my dreamland when he doesn't know anything about that place. I wish it were me instead. Are you kidding me? Of course you don't actually mean that. Curse you inner-logic. You don't mean that either. I know. I care about him too much to actually place a curse on you or the one in my world. Even though every time I see him he makes my heart throb out of my chest and he makes me want to scream out in agony at how pathetic I am for not trying to change anything.
Oooh, look who's coming Morality! Could that be tall, hot, and handsome on the horizon. Yep, slick black shirt and thick black glasses. The nerdy tie to match and the little white lion logo, oh how I love the lion logo. Quick, shut up you guys, I need to focus on the cutie. I can't believe you just called him something so utterly and completely dumb. Shut up inner-anxiety. Oh, like outer Anxiety? Do you want me to get hit by a van too? No, that's not what I meant... Kidding! You're so fun to mess with. Am I? Yes, now focus; here he comes.]
:
"Any progress?" Logic asked. He had a satchel strapped over his right side and was dealing with loosening the strap holding it around his body.
"Not really. Prince is asleep. After you left we just talked for a bit and then I guess we both must have dozed off for a bit. How's Thomas doing?" I asked. Logan seemed to struggle with his wording before he answered.
"He's...Thomas. He's okay I suppose, but he's worried. It's weird to see him. Without the real Anxiety, he can't express his worry as clearly as he normally would be able to." Logic trailed off, his voice soft. "I told him to not leave the house and only open the door for the pizza man, since he'll probably be ordering pizza to deal with his unsettled emotions shortly. I put your daughter in charge. What is her name anyway?"
"Oh my goodness. Have they still not introduced themselves yet?" I asked, sounding annoyed. See, it's a little hard to just give them my kids names. Especially since they change from day to day.
"Nevermind. I brought some stuff to document any changes in Anxiety's state of being." He seemed to notice my struggle to answer and cut me off to gesture to his satchel.
"Isn't that what the doctors are for?" I was confused. Why would he want to document any of this when the doctors had all the copies we needed.
"Technically speaking, yes. However, these notes are not for us. Thomas requested updates. These will be for his benefit." That made sense. He was trying to calm both himself and Thomas by keeping steady tabs on our fallen comrade.
"Okay. Speaking of Thomas. We'll all have to go back at some point. How are we gonna break that to Prince?"
"I have an idea."
*Sorry about the delay. I promise to come up with a schedule soon. I'll be busy until next weekend, but after that I should have more of an idea/plan regarding the future. Thanks for all the support you've been giving me and as a special treat I will post the sequel to Don't Let Me Break More very soon. (Later today or tomorrow, depending on where you live and how much homework my teachers assign.) In the meantime, happy reading!*
