( disclaimer: ive seen a lot of comments since i started this book and i just wanna say one thing. liTERALLY STOP THINKING KRYSTAL IS CRYSTAL LIKE KRYSTAL IS NOT BASED ON CRYSTAL LEIGH. CRYSTAL LEIGH IS NOT IN THIS BOOK. KRYSTAL IS JUST AN OC I MADE UP THAT COINCIDENTALLY HAS THE SAME NAME AS MIKEYS GIRLFRIEND IRL.)
Michael's point of view
"Who's the Aleigha girl?" Ashton asked for the millionth time as I opened her letter. "Michael has a girlfrien-"
"She's not my girlfriend." I said and looked at the first page. "Swear. She's a fan of ours who writes me letters." I told them and Calum laughed.
"Liar. You're dating a girl. Who is she?" He asked me and I read through the letter of her writing about prom.
"She doesn't have a prom date." Luke said since he was reading with me.
"Aww Michael, take her to prom." Ashton teased and I shook my head. "I guess she really is just a fan. Huh."
"I told you she was." I said and rolled my eyes as I flipped the page. "Guys, go away." I told them and Luke leaned his head on my shoulder.
"Aw, she was alone for her birthday-"
"What?!" Calum yelled and jumped up, looking at the letters in my hand. "How can someone be alone on their birthday? No parents? Friends? Siblings?"
"Says here she spent it alone." I mumbled as I felt instantly bad for her. I flipped to the next page, making a mental note to tweet about her birtday, despite it being like a week later.
I read through the third page, laughing lightly at her fangirling. I smiled fondly before flipping the page once more, reading the fourth letter, which was about her siblings.
"Oh no..." I trailed off and Luke hummed, finding interest in his Twitter rather than the letters now. Calum was the same, sitting beside me while watching a video on his phone.
"Fuck I hate when she does this." I said and slammed the papers on my lap, rubbing my eyes slightly. "Something bad happens and she won't address whether she's okay or not. I can't talk to her about it and I hate it." I told them and Ashton laughed.
"Ask her to send you her number or a return address." He told me and I finished reading.
"She said she might." I told him and he nodded. "She also said she'd love to hang out with me but is self concious in the third one." I told him and he nodded.
"Is she the girl you've been tweeting about?" Calum tasted and I looked at him. "Lowkey want to text you, highkey need your number." He said and I laughed, remembering how I tweeted that at three in the morning.
I read the last letter, smiling as I read that she was graduating soon. I'm proud of her. She made it farther than I did and for that, I'm very proud of her.
"Aw, Aleigha," I pouted as I read about how she thought she was fat. "I bet she isn't at all. Everytime a girl says she's fat, she never is."
"Sometimes they are." Ashton said and I looked at him. "Hey, I'm like 180 pounds. If you're a girl who's shorter than me and weighs more then me, I don't know man..."
"Shut up Ashton." I said and rolled my eyes as I finished reading the letter. "All of our fans are absolutely beautiful."
"Well..." Luke trailed off and I rolled my eyes. He's the shallowest of us all, then Ashton, Calum, and finally, me.
I pulled my phone out and then opened Twitter, starting a quick tweet for Aleigha. This was the most I had to being able to contact her, public messages that there's a chance she may not even see.
"Happy late birthday Aleigha! Wish you could have told me sooner, we could have hung out that day 🎉"
"Michael? Wanna go to the mall with me real quick? Arz wants to hang out but I need fans to know it's not a date." Luke said and I groaned. "Please?" He begged and I sighed.
"Fine. Yeah whatever." I mumbled and nodded. "Let me get dressed. All of you, get out of my room." I said and Luke dragged them out since I wasn't too comfortable changing in front of them.
I pulled my tank top off and then pulled on a light coloured The Rolling Stones t-shirt. I threw a leather jacket in top if it. I piled a bunch of necklaces that matched my bracelets on and then pulled my shorts down.
Blue patched skinny jeans soon clung to my legs and I slipped some black socks on, a pair of my many black combat boots following. I stood up and put my phone in my pack pocket before looking in the mirror, running my hands through my hair a couple of times.
I made sure my wrists were covered and then left my room, looking for Luke. I hummed and then grabbed his arm, dragging him from the couch to the front of the house.
"You're eager." He said and I shook my head, telling him I simply just wanted to get this over with.
-
"Luke, please?" Arzaylea asked, holding up a pair of denim shorts. "I'll wear them around for you." She whispered, thinking that I couldn't hear her.
I walked away from the two and then sighed, a bit irritated for no real reason. Maybe it was because I was third wheeling currently, which always sucks, but sucks even more when you're lonely and the last girl you asked out turned you down just to go to your bandmate.
Safe to say, Calum is a real friend.
In the midst of my continuous rant about how the girls I like, never like me back, I accidentally bumped into someone. "Oh my-I'm so sorry." I said, grabbing the girls cardigan so that she didn't fall.
"It's okay." The girl stated as she looked at me, her hazel eyes wide. "I'm Krystal." She said and smiled.
"Are you okay?" I asked and she nodded as I let go of her clothes. "I'm Michael." I said awkwardly.
"I know who you are." She said and laughed as she pulled her crop top down. "Are the other members here? Calum maybe?" She asked, looking around the store.
"Oh um..." I looked down and then nodded. "Just-Just me." I told her so she didn't go looking for Luke and she nodded, seeming uninterested.
That hurts.
"Jackie, I don't wanna do this." Someone said softly and I furrowed my eyebrows. Where have I heard these names before? Krystal? Jackie?
"Lee you have to!" The girl insisted and I heard someone calling my name. "It's prom! Even if you don't have a date, you have to go!" She told her and I heard a sigh.
"I can't do it. I'm not confident like you guys."
"I have to go." Krystal said awkwardly and I nodded. "Aleigha Vasquez, just pick a dress out!" She said and my eyes widened.
Of course. I'm a dumbass.
"Hey, by any chan-"
"There you are Michael." I heard Arzaylea say and I felt her tug on my jacket. "We're going to a different store now. Maybe you can pick up more band shirts." She told me and I watched as Krystal ran somewhere in the store.
"I need to-"
"Come on." Luke said and he dragged me out of store. We stopped abruptly as a girl ran out of the store, holding on to her beanie as another girl chased her. "Okay then." He said and laughed as we left the store.
I sighed, mad that this was the only time I could have possibly met the girl who sends me letters about everything she can't say out loud, and I couldn't meet her in person.
Is this what it feels like when fans can't see us? Cause' if it is, I am so sorry.
"I'm going to Hot Topic." I mumbled as they went to a different store. I walked into the dark room and then looked at their rock n' roll hall of fame.
"Excuse me." A girl said quietly and I stepped back as she walked to the corner of the store, grabbing clothes that are obviously not her size, and then running into the changing room.
I shrugged and then grabbed a couple of shirts, a Guns and Roses one, followed by a The Rolling Stones tee.
I threw them over my arm and picked up a couple of more bracelets, ones more gender neutral because I doubt I could take the teasing that comes with the purple bracelets. I'd probably end up crying after Ashton calls me a 'little girl'.
I walked to a different part of the store and groaned when I bumped into someone else. "I'm so sorry. I don't know what's wrong aith me today." I said and the girl looked at me.
"It's okay." She said softly, her eyes lingering on me before looking back at the rows of shirts.
"Which band are you looking at?" I asked and she hummed. "Who's your favourite out of all of these artists?" I asked her.
"5 Seconds of Summer."
"They suck." I said and she laughed lightly. I smiled and shuffled my feet a bit. "I think the best band there is My Chemical Romance." I told her and she shrugged, messing with her wristbands.
"I think it's 5 Seconds of Summer." She insisted, looking me in the eye. Her bangs covered a little bit of her brown eyes, that even in this dim light, still looked beautiful.
"I think you're wrong."
"Can opinions be wrong?"
"They can be if you like 5sos." I said and she nodded. "Which shirt?" I asked and she pointed to the black one with with our heart-eye skull drown out in red.
"I don't know if they have my size though." She said and I looked at her. I went up to the row and then searched through the shirt, grabbing a large because I felt like a medium would be too tight since these shirts were normally made for girls with tiny waists.
"Yeah? Try it on." I said and handed it to her. She looked at me wide eyed, reaching for the shirt slowly. "I think this should fit."
"Oh I um..." She looked behind me and then nodded. "Okay." She told me softly and went to the dressing room.
I grabbed a plain blue flannel and then threw it over my arm with all of the shirts I was gonna buy. I stood patiently and then she soon walked out, clearing her throat quietly.
I looked at her and then nodded. "It looks perfect."
"I guess-I guess you can say... she looks so perfect." She said and I laughed as her cheeks darkened slightly with a red tint. "How much is this?" She asked and I told her it was a little bit over twenty.
"It's there a problem?" I asked and she shook her head, looking a little sad.
"I'm gonna go change." She told me and I nodded. When she went back to the changing room, I grabbed the same shirt quickly and then went to the cash register, glad there wasn't many people in here.
I paid for all my items, getting a discount since I had a card here and the shirts were buy one get one 15% off. I thanked her and arranged the clothes so her shirt was in a separate bag.
I set it right by the changing room door and then left because I saw Luke standing outside the store with crossed arms. "I feel like a parent." He huffed and I rolled my eyes.
"I just wanted some more shirts, chill." I said and Arz walked out of Victoria Secret with a large bag. I mentally rolled my eyes as Luke chuckled, putting an arm around her shoulders.
"I swear to god, I'm going to kick Aleigha's ass. Check Hot Topic, she's always in there. She's probably buying more black clothes, like always." Someone said as they passed us.
"She didn't have money Jackie. She spent what she brought buying us all food. It was like thirty dollars." A familiar voice said and I face palmed.
"Be right b-"
"Oh no mister, you're staying with us. You said you would come so fans don't spread more rumors." Luke said and my heart raced as I turned around, seeing two girls who looked practically identical argue as the girl I met stepped out of the store.
She locked eyes with me as she held up a bag and gave me a small smile before holding it up higher.
I turned around and looked at Luke. "Luke please-"
"Nope. We need you here Michael." He said and a bunch of girls pointed at us. "They're gonna take pictures and it needs to look like you're actually friends with her."
"I hate you." I mumbled because I had the biggest chance to meet Aleigha and possibly get phone number, but Luke wouldn't let me.
