TOGETHER: Part ∞ + 8
~~~~~~~~~Flashback: 2 years ago~~~~~~~~~
I was just a seventeen-year-old boy who was going to the blue-painted high school of the Kawaakari city.
It was a warm autumn day. Bomyu was running on a line towards a ball. He was wearing field shoes, a white t-shirt and white shorts which had blue stripes on their sides. I was running beside him in an entirely green football field at our school.
Bomyu inhaled deeply and smiled slightly, as he kicked the ball. The ball flew in the air reaching long distances.
"Nice kick!" I commented and started to chase him towards the other half of the field.
"Thanks, Karu." Bomyu beamed while he was breathing deeply. He played for hours, so he was physically exhausted.
"Look, isn't it Paikek?" Bomyu pointed at the black-haired Eurasian boy Paikek who was drawing a line to the ground by blue and yellow chalks.
It seemed like he made a circle around the school with the lines he drew with the blue and yellow coloured chalks.
"Paikek, will you go to the next class?" I asked Paikek, after Bomyu and I jogged next to him.
"Right! Sure I will." Paikek concurred immediately.
"Come on what're we waiting for!!!" Bomyu put his right arm around my shoulders as we entered the school building.
"I always struggle with opening these doors." Paikek sighed when he couldn't open the yellow gates of the school.
"It's okay, we're here to help." Bomyu pushed the doors supporting Paikek to open the entrance.
Once we entered the school building, we saw Seanyung standing in the middle of the corridor where lots of pupils were in a rush everywhere. He looked like there were millions of things going over his mind.
"Seanyung, have you seen Yonsan [연산]?" Paikek wondered.
"Oh. He is probably in class. You know he is always early." Seanyung responded as he started heading to the classroom with us.
We reached the front door of the classroom, which had a blurry glass that we couldn't see inside.
"You guys go in. I will be right back." Bomyu rushed to the opposite side of the corridor.
"Alright, see you later." Seanyung waved at him.
Subsequently, I pulled the door handle to open it, and we stepped inside the classroom where Yonsan was sitting on a desk. He had blue hair and darker pale skin, and he was the tallest of us.
"Hey, Karu! Paipai! Yung! You should see this." the blue-haired boy Yonsan entreated while he put a green coloured old book onto the table.
"Wow! It looks fascinating!" Paikek's eyes almost glimmered as he got amazed by the star figure on the book's cover.
"You haven't seen the real trick yet!" Yonsan opened the book, and there was a window shaped slit inside the book.
"This doesn't seem usual." I commented in astonishment.
"Wow!" Paikek's jaw dropped.
Yonsan closed his eyes and put his hand on the book, while Seanyung, Paikek and I watched, wondering what he was doing.
A small cloud of smoke started to arise from the book. The smoke got denser and denser as Yonsan kept focusing.
"Are you sure it's working?" I got worried.
Instantly, the book started burning with bright red flames. Paikek concernedly looked at me expecting me to do something, while Seanyung got closer to see why it was burning.
"I didn't even mean to do this." Yonsan perplexed, and he put his left hand on his forehead as the book continued to burn.
As we were thinking of a way to stop it, the classroom door got opened by Bomyu, and then, he hastened in with an orange wand in his hand. He jumped over the other desks to reach us with his eyes narrowed.
While the other boys and I were watching, Bomyu stood in front of the burning book and pointed the wand towards it. He widened his eyes as the rod created a large water bubble around the green book and extinguished the flames.
"This was awesome. You should teach me how to do these kinds of things." Paikek marvelled.
"Yeah, if you teach me about the magic of stars that you have been working on." Bomyu joshed as he patted Paikek.
"I would teach you about it, but I haven't got a book about stars yet." Paikek flashed his teeth to him.
"Speaking of stars, why don't we go watch them after school." Yonsan put in an idea which made me interested, so I accepted;
"Yeah sure, it sounds like an amazing idea." I cheerfully smiled.
Seanyung picked up his backpack and put the green book in it before we left the classroom. I looked behind and noticed that there was a map looking precisely like a star, drawn on the blackboard.
Eventually, we closed the door and got outside of the school. The red and orange shades of the sky was a clear sign of the magnificent sunset.
"It's amazing, isn't it?" I remarked as I looked upon the sky filled with stars, even it wasn't completely dark.
We sat on a bank in front of the school road which was surrounded by maple trees. The bench was made for three people, but five of us could easily fit.
"This looks strange." Seanyung quickly stood up and looked to the stars.
"Yung? Is everything okay?" Yonsan got up as well and put his hand on Seanyung's shoulder.
"We should go to the library now!!" Seanyung urged and eventually we began following him to the library. He was the smartest among five of us, that's why we always trusted him.
"The book didn't get burnt. Look!" Seanyung continued as he brought the book out from his black backpack. It seemed like the book didn't get any damage from fire, and the star figure on its cover was still there.
"But, Seanyung, how?" Paikek narrowed his eyes when he saw the book in one piece.
"I don't know. Did you complete drawing a star around the school?"
"Yeah, but I only did it with chalks." Paikek partially opened his lips.
Seanyung nodded and pushed the handle of the door, which was leading to the library. And, we got inside after him.
"Wow!!!" Bomyu got amazed by the shelves of the library which were looking like the walls of a maze.
"Wow! This place is so big!" Piakek exclaimed as he assumed there was nobody inside the library because it was night.
"What exactly are we looking for?" I wondered because nobody did. However, Seanyung was intensely focused on the shelves looking for a book, so he didn't notice me.
"Our smarty can't hear you while he's thinking." Yonsan bantered.
"Yeah, I can tell that too." I chuckled.
"Why is it so dark in the library? I can't see my cute face in the mirror. Maybe we should turn the other lights on." Paikek effused as he looked in the tall mirror on the wall.
Subsequently, Seanyung grabbed a yellow book from the shelves by using the wooden ladder on the corner. It was written "Hi" on the book's cover. However, it wasn't the "Hi" which used to greet people; instead, it was the Japanese letter 火 (Hi) which meant fire.
The library was so dark for Seanyung to read the book so I searched my backpack for a flashlight.
"Sorry, Seanyung. I couldn't find any flashlights." I notified.
"Why don't you use your phone's flashlight?" Bomyu suggested with a grin on his face.
Seanyung turned his phone's torch on and began reading the book on the floor of the library, as the other boys and I lied beside him. Bomyu's legs were under my head, and Paikek was lying on Yonsan's chest as the space was limited.
We spent around two hours in the same position waiting for Seanyung to complete the book. It was enough for Bomyu and Paikek to fall asleep, but Yonsan and I were still watching Seanyung reading.
All of a sudden, Seanyung gasped "Everything in the book disappeared!"
"How?" I got up to check and noticed that every single page of the book was blank.
"Guys! Look at this!" Yonsan turned the pages and found the only page with words in it.
"What does it say?" I asked quickly.
"It says..." Yonsan faltered, but then he continued: "It says it knows where we are."
"Who?" I looked around the shelves of the library.
There were two bright green eyes in the dark, staring at us.
