TOGETHER: Part ∞ + 14
It was cold. The rain was showering onto the concrete roads of the city of Kawaakari, as the wind blew across the street. The patters of the magnificent rain were striking to the umbrella I was holding. The green book which I called the star book was in the pocket of my black jacket, while my friends and I walked in the rain.
"It's so cold. Hurry up, guys." Paikek shivered while his hair was soaking wet, and he was keeping his hands in the pockets of his yellow hoodie.
"We'll be there soon." I began walking faster even though the water was draining from my shoes.
After a few minutes, we reached in front of the brown wooden building which had some brick-made parts as well. It was the book store that we got books for each other.
"This is the only place to find information about the star book" I pushed open the door with my left hand, while my other hand hid the star book inside my pocket.
Once we entered the wooden building, I noticed that the book store seemed like it was darker than the last time we visited. Most of the lights were dimmed and windows were completely closed. The wooden bars holding the ceiling were in between the shelves full of books. There were papers, books and newspapers on the floor as well.
"Is it closed?" Bomyu looked around, noticing that nobody was inside. And, the light bulb on the corner was twinkling in irregular breaks.
"It can't be closed. Otherwise, the doors would be locked." Paikek's eyes narrowed as he began checking behind the shelves reaching the ceiling.
The library was divided into four categories; elementals, alchemy, spell casting and necromancy. Therefore, I suggested; "Let's separate. Seanyung you check the alchemy, Paikek you go to the spell casting part, Bomyu you check the elementals section and I will check the necromancy part."
"Nice idea." Seanyung nodded, concurring my suggestion as each one of us went to different parts of the library.
I walked next to a shelf which was covered by spider nets. Then I wiped off the net to get a clear view of the books on the shelf. Most books were black and they had skull symbols on them in the necromancy part.
All of a sudden, I began hearing a clatter coming from the other side of the shelf. Consequently, I stepped closer to it to see what was causing the sound.
"Karu! We met again!" the old lady Mrs Marleigh grinned when she walked down the staircase in the middle of the library. She had two long grey French braid hair and she was wearing a long white dress with flowers on it. However, the flowers were all black.
"Mrs Marleigh!!" I got surprised, and a little bit scared when I suddenly saw her face full of wrinkles.
"How do you want me to help you, darling?" Her voice cracked as she put back one of the books on the floor to the shelves. Her hair was whiter when compared to the last time we met her.
"We need to find our friend Yonsan but we don't know how." I explained the situation to her.
Bomyu, Paikek and Seanyung came from other parts of the library, when they heard my voice talking to Mrs Marleigh.
"And all we have is the star book." Seanyung intervened as he continued; "Karu, show her the book."
"Alright..." I murmured while I brought the book out from my pocket. The star symbol on its green cover was looking unique.
"This book is not for you to read." the old lady lowered her eyebrows, after staring at the book I was holding.
"But there's already nothing in it." Seanyung rose an eyebrow, his eyes turned to left then to right. He looked confused as he put his hand at the back of his head.
"However..." Mrs Marleigh coughed, then added: "There is only one way to unlock the information inside the book..."
When she continued to explain, suddenly a loud noise came from outside. It was like something made of glass got broken into pieces. We turned our faces to the side where the explosion sound came from.
"Let's go, look." Bomyu's eyebrows rose as he rushed outside quickly.
Consequently, Paikek and Seanyung ran behind him, hurriedly to see what was outside. On the other hand, I was shocked that they went outside while Mrs Marleigh was giving us some important information. I didn't know what to do because I wanted to know how the book worked.
"Karu!! You need to see this!" Paikek shouted from outside. And, I turned my face to the way to the bookshop's exit.
"If you go, you will not know about the book." Suddenly Mrs Marleigh put her hand on my shoulder, as she warned.
I turned my face to her, making eye contact with her small wrinkly eyes. The way she was looking was so intimidating while her hand on my shoulder trembled.
"Karu!! come on!" Paikek kept shouting, waiting for me to go outside.
Immediately, my face turned to the exit door as I walked through the way with bookshelves on both sides. When I pushed open the exit door, I glanced behind, noticing that the old lady Mrs Marleigh was not there anymore. At that particular moment, I felt regretful that I missed my chance to take her advice.
"Karu! Karu!" Paikek beamed when I got outside. He, Seanyung and Bomyu were at the corner of the road surrounded by cherry trees. The weather wasn't rainy anymore but it was cold.
As the wind blew, the leaves of the cherry trees spread across the pavements in front of the wooden book store.
"What happened?" I questioned with a slightly loud tone as I sighed deeply.
"Somebody broke the windows of that car." Seanyung informed while he was standing beside Bomyu and Paikek, in front of a white race car which had broken windows. There were pieces of glass all around the car and the road.
"Who did it?" The amount of damage on the car made me confused, so I asked.
"We don't know, Karu." Paikek's bottom lip jutted out.
"I think somebody did it to distract us." I commented as I realised that it happened right at the time Mrs Marleigh was about to tell something.
"I agree!" Seanyung nodded, then he turned his face to Paikek and spoke; "Do you know any magic that can show us what happened?"
"Right! Magic can do anything! I know a spell to help us." Paikek smoothly grinned, opened his backpack and brought out his magical wand.
"Are you sure it's gonna work?" Bomyu asked in his soft typical tone.
"Yeah! Right! This magic will work pretty awesome!" Paikek broadly smiled showing his perfect teeth while he put his wand up creating a magical sphere.
The magical sphere grew gradually; the moment that the incident occurred illustrated inside of the glowing orb.
We watched closely as the orb started showing the car was which was parked on the side of the road, then a shadow approached to it.
Bomyu's mouth dropped and Seanyung's eyes widened while they were keeping their eyes on it. On the other hand, Paikek seemed scared as he was biting the left side of his bottom lip while he lowered his eyebrows.
I looked closer to the illustration in the magical sphere. And, it was visible that the shadow who was breaking the car's windows was the Karuma Panda itself.
