Prologue

"Quickly- We need to find a way to slow him down!" Aine, the representative for the Fae, yells as she and three others run to The Room of Souls.

"Wait! Where is Alastor and Miranda?!" Raven calls out, frantically searching around as there were six of them.

"They stayed to help the guards hold down the door. I told them not to!" Leonidas, the representative for the Shifters answers, though it is clear he is upset about it.

"Why would they do that?! We need them!" Aine responds.

They see the big double doors ahead, blue light emanating from the cracks around the door, making the dim hallway light up the closer they get. The hallway being lit by torches every few feet, and the floors covered in slippery moss. No one was needed in The Room of Souls until today. As today is the day that Lucifer's son attempts to take over the world, but in order to do so, he needs to awaken his full power. In doing so he needs the six representatives that make up the council, as they have what he needs.

Aine pushes through the wooden double doors, and nearly stumbles into the room. Once everyone made it in they shut and locked the door by bringing down the latch. It won't hold against Him for long, but it will do. They gather around the Fountain that harbors the Souls, the souls that will be given a destiny to uphold.

"What are we doing here Aine? These souls won't do us much good." Dovien, the representative for the mer-folk speaks up.

"Because- He needs things from us, but he can't have it, I won't let him take it from us. So- we're going to give it to them." Aine says, then gestures to the souls, waiting for their mission.

"Yes, but if we give it to them, they won't know what to do with it- they're not going to understand that they need to stay far away from each other to keep Him from getting it." Raven tries to reason.

"I understand your concerns, but hear me out. He knows we have what he needs but if we give it to them he won't know where to look. And what are the odds that they will come together? And then, even if they did- what are the odds that he'd even find them? By the time they're born the world will have an abundance of bodies. Bodies that he'll search, and search he will because it will take him thousands of years to find." Aine finishes, looking through the Fountain she searches for a worthy soul.

"Why don't we just destroy it then? He won't get it if it's gone." Leonidas suggests, but he too looks through the fountain, looking for a worthy soul as well.

"If they're destroyed then we won't have a weapon against Him. It's better if we follow what Aine says. The Fae are knowledgeable and cunning. Her plan may just work." Raven speaks.

After hearing what Raven says Leonidas and Dovien understand. They understand that this is the best thing to do, otherwise He will win, He will get what he wants.

"Glad we're all in agreement." Aine smiles. Looking down she picks up a soul that she deems worthy to take the power needed to fight back against evil. Once she finds her soul the others seem to find the worthy ones for themselves as well.

"My friends, I'm afraid we may die today. But with these souls, we'll come back to a new life, a life where we can finish our mission, because as we are today there will be no winning for us. We will inevitably lose this battle. So my friends, let us meet in the future and until then I will bid you farewell." Aine bows to the others, causing them to tear up. The realization of what's to come hitting them like a tidal wave.

They all bow to each other, saying their goodbyes as they know this will be the end.

"Remember who we're doing this for. We're doing this to save those we love, and in doing so, we save whom they love as well. This is a sacrifice that is needed to protect everyone." Raven says as she stands tall.

"Now, let us release our chosen souls into the abyss, and hope they find their way home when the time comes." Aine says.

But just as she finished her sentence, the doors cave in and there stands Lucifer's son, and in his hand the head of Miranda. This causes Raven to scream, letting go of the souls in her hands where they fly off into the unknown. Upon seeing Miranda's head Aine passes out, knocking over the Fountain as she lands on the ground.

Everything seemed to happen in slow motion for everyone, as Leonidas and Dovien grow visibly upset at their fallen friend, and attempt to avenge her. They barely made it two steps before their bodies thump to the ground. Raven backs to the wall as she witnesses her fallen companions.

As Aine gains consciousness she hears the screams of Raven, barely able to gain enough strength to sit up; she looks over just in time to see Him rip the witches heart out, her screaming ceasing and her body slowly slides to the floor. Aine watches as he turns around and looks at her.

He has a charming appearance. It was said Lucifer's son looked heavenly, his voice silky and deep. Aine got to hear his voice for the first time, and it did in fact sound deceivingly sweet. It could make anyone fall for his charms, with the way his voice carried, wrapping you in silk and a false sense of security.

"My sweet Aine, I hope you choose not to put up a fight." He says, as he kneels down to level his face with hers.

When she doesn't say anything he smiles. "That's a good girl." He says as he swiftly picks her up and leans her against the wall in a sitting position.

"Now, I trust you know why I'm here. Considering your kind is clever, it wouldn't be a waste to assume that you'd give me what I want." He says sweetly, but underlying that sweetness is something evil, and cold.

"I won't give you what you want you so-" Aine starts but doesn't get to finish.

"Ah, ah, ah, sweetheart. There's no need for name calling. I just need a teensy-tiny thing from you. You know what it is, all you have to do is give it to me." He says, still keeping his voice light.

"I don't have it anymore- it's long gone, you'll never find it." Aine responds, venom lacing her words as she glares at the beautiful man before her.

"What do you mean it's gone?" The man says, his voice growing deeper the more angry he gets.

"It's all up to them now." Aine laughs, seeing that she was getting under his skin.

The man turns around and sees the toppled over Fountain and realizes what she means. They're with the other souls, and he wouldn't put it past her to break up the pieces he needs and send them with different souls, making it almost impossible to know how many of them have what he needs. Then what's worse- He doesn't know when they'll be born.

He turns around quickly and grabs her throat, cutting off her air flow.

"How many?" He says through gritted teeth.

She just smiles at him. "I'll take it to my grave."

The man glares at her, not liking that she's taking pleasure in not giving him what he wants. So out of rage he takes the silver dagger from his breast pocket, and sinks it into her heart. She tries to gasp from shock- but it comes out choked and weak. Tears grace her face as she smiles, then her eyes close and she goes still. As the color drains from her face he throws her over to where he killed the witch, the thud louder than he expected.

He gets up and paces back and forth, then notices two black ravens by the window. Huffing he grabs one of them, meaning to grab both but the other flies off.

"That damned witch." He grunts as he snaps the neck of the bird he grabbed.

"Now they're gonna know." He snarls as he watches the raven get smaller and smaller the further it flies.

Note from the Author

Hello! And welcome to Boys Meets Evil! I know this is the prologue but I wanted to pop in and say hello. I usually get sidetracked with stories but I've actually been working on this one for quite a while. I couldn't do what I wanted to do for a while but now that I have a job I'm able to pick up and get what I need to make this story more engaging.

I hope you all liked the Prologue! I had to rewrite this a few times to get the story to start out the way I wanted it. I'm a bit new to the fantasy genre so if you have any tips for me don't be afraid to share them! After reading Hoseokiissk 's story Beastly Beauty it gave me the inspiration I needed to continue writing this story. I highly recommend you check it out and read some of the other stories there. I thoroughly enjoyed them.

I wanted the dark and haunting aesthetic for this story but never knew how to go about writing it. After reading Beastly Beauty I got ideas and started writing and listening to music that matches the theme.

I'd also like to introduce the characters that were in this chapter as they didn't get much screen time and I feel bad.

So first and foremost is Aine. She was the rep of the Fae.

Then we have Alastor, he sadly only got his name mentioned here so lets put up a picture of him. He is a demon rep.

Next is Dovien, he was the rep of mer-folk.

And then we have Leonidas, he was a human/lion shifter and the rep for all Shifters

Next is our human rep, Miranda.

And last but not least is our witch rep, Raven.

They're all so stunning! I used Art Breeder for these images, and I don't know how to use it so I did my best. These characters will be talked about in Chapter One so if you have any questions after that don't be afraid to ask!

I'd also like to point out this story will have a slow start to it and gradually build up. Can't throw everything at you at once.
