Dinner

I woke up to a knock on my bedroom.

"Come in," I said rubbing my eyes.

"Good morning, sis. How are you?" My brother asked.

"Good morning. I'm good. How are you?" I asked sitting up.

"Good, Mom wanted me to tell you she made pancakes," Zack said.

"Ok, I'll be down soon," I said as he walked out of my room. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Then I picked out a cute outfit.

I walked downstairs and my mom smiled at me.

"You look like your going somewhere," My mom said as I sat down at our little bar.

"I'm meeting my friends Zoe and Ally for lunch," I said as she slid a plate in front of me.

"Fun, when are you leaving?" My mom asked.

"Twelve. I have time. I just thought it would be nice to get ready early. You don't have to worry about driving me. They're picking me up," I said. I wasn't really planning on going out with Ally and Zoe. I was gonna go to lunch with both Miro and Chase. I don't think my mom would want me going out with two high school boys alone.

"Ok, what time do you think will you get back? Remember we have your boyfriend coming for dinner," She winked.

"H-He's not my boyfriend," I said blushing.

     "Yet," My brother chimed in.

"You aren't helping!" I said elbowing him.

"You sure did talk about him a lot in the car yesterday," Zach smirked.

"I can't help it. He's an incredible hockey player!" I said blushing even more.

"Uh-huh, hockey player and kisser maybe," My brother winked.

"No! I wouldn't know if he was," I said dying of embarrassment.

"That's what she wants us to think," My dad said walking in.

"I'm about to go eat this in my room if y'all don't shut up!" I said putting my fork down.

"Fine, fine, what about you, Zach? Any cute Arizona girls?" My dad asked grabbing a mug from the cabinet. I smiled. Finally, someone else to pick on.

"Well, there's one girl who's in college right now. She's nineteen and she's really nice," He said looking down.

"Ooh, what's her name? Do you have any pictures?" I asked.

"Her name is Emily. I have a few pictures. Hold on," He said pulling his phone out.

"Here," He slid me his phone.

"She's pretty! Did you take this? I know you're into taking shoots," I smiled.

"Yes, I met her at the mall. She was pretty so I approached her. We texted for a while and eventually I brought up my love for photography. She asked me for a shoot and so we did one," He said smiling.

"Aww, that's so cute!" I said smiling.

"We aren't actually together though," He said sadly.

"You should ask her out!" I said.

"I'm too nervous," He said softly.

"Just go for it!" My mom said.

"Yeah, that's what I had to do with your mother," My dad said.

     "Shut up," Zach said blushing.

"I need to get going. Thanks for breakfast," I said getting up.

"Have fun with the girls. Get back before your 'friend' gets here," My mom said.

"I will," I said walking out the door. I saw Miro's car pull in. I hopped in and he smiled at me.

"You look great!" He said looking me up and down.

     "Thanks," I said blushing.

"No problem, Chase should meet us there," Miro said pulling out of my driveway. We drove to lunch and had fun talking about random stuff. Eventually, Miro dropped me off at my house.

"Remember to be here at six," I said smiling.

"I will," Miro smiled at me. I shut the door and walked inside.

"That didn't look like neither Ally or Zoe's parents car," My mom said standing in the entryway.

"Oh, yeah, Ally's mom got a new car," I said walking upstairs. I was gonna relax. I spent some time in some sweatpants and a sweatshirt on my phone. I just scrolled threw Instagram and watched a few YouTube videos. Eventually I needed to get dressed. I picked out a nice dress.

     Then I did my hair.

Finally, makeup!

I heard the doorbell ring and I ran downstairs. I opened the door and Miro hugged me.

"You look amazing!" He said smiling.

"Thanks, you look pretty good yourself," I said smiling. He smiled as I led him to the living room. When he actually met my brother he was in awe.

"It's an honor to meet you," Miro said shaking his hand.

"I've heard great things about you," My brother said smirking at me. I blushed.

    "Really?" He blushed.

"Yep, It's good to know there are good-hearted guys who know how to treat a girl respectfully," My brother said patting Miro's shoulder.

"Thank you. You're sister is a sweet girl and I want her to be taken care of," Miro said smiling at me. I hugged him and he blushed.

"You're really sweet to my daughter," My mom said as she and my dad walked in. Miro smiled and walked up to them.

"Thank you. I'm Miro. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Smith," Miro said shaking their hands. My parents looked impressed.

"Nice to meet you, too," They said.

"The foods ready, so let's eat," My mother said smiling.

"Alright, let's go," I said grabbing Miro's arm. He smiled and we went to the kitchen and began getting our food. My mom made Lasagna. We sat down at the dinner table and began talking.

"So, Miro, you're from Finland, correct?" My mom asked.

"Yes, I moved here over the summer and took lots of classes on the english language. It was a big change. Especially the weather. I mean, Finland it would snow occasionally and we expected blizzards in the winter. Meanwhile here, we wear sweatshirts in the winter and die of a heatstroke in the summer," He chuckled.

"Do you like it here?" My brother asked.

"It's great here. The people are super nice and have all helped me adapt to the new country and culture," Miro smiled.

"What's it like in Finland?" My dad asked.

"It was pretty good. I have lots of memories of me and my sister playing in the snow. It's really pretty there," He said.

"Where in Finland are you from?" My mom asked taking a bite.

"Espoo, Finland. It's a nice city. It has snow a lot but not all the time. In fact, it gets up to seventy degrees in the summers. The weather was pretty good," Miro said taking another bite. We talked for a while and eventually Miro went back to his house. It was a pretty great night.
