"Oh my Christ Rem, I'm marrying James Potter," Lily slurred, looking at Remus with a panicked look that was a mix between fear and joy.

Remus just chuckled and sank further down into the pillows. He had pretended to be offended when Lily made him come to her hen do instead of James's stag night, however, he was secretly happier drinking elaborate cocktails whilst sitting in Lily's hotel room, playing a heated game of Cards Against Humanity with Dorcas, Marlene and Alice.

"You are, you're marrying the man you once proclaimed, Britain's biggest wanker," Remus giggled, still slightly drunk after downing mojito after mojito.

"He was Britain's biggest wanker, until he... wasn't," Lily smiled, turning to face Remus, looking beautiful despite her smudged mascara and knotted hair. Remus smiled, holding out his hand for Lily to take, which she did, gratefully.

Remus thought about how it would be the last time he would share a bed with Lily, the two had been bunking together since they were small and could top and tail. He'd been thrilled when Lily had asked him to stay with her the night before the wedding, as the couple had chosen to honour the tradition of— no sex before the wedding.

"Do you think I'll change Remmy? That being Lily Potter will mean I'm no longer me?"

Remus scoffed and kissed Lily's knuckles lovingly. "If anything it'll make you more, you. You and James complete each other. Plus I doubt Sirius is ever going to call you anything other than Evans," Remus soothed, sobering up slightly in light of Lily's nerves.

"Yes, I suppose," Lily slurred, giving Remus a smile that could only be described as 'ditzy.'
Remus shook his head at the drunken girl, gently pushing a sweaty strand of hair behind Lily's ear.

"You're going to be so happy with Prongs, he's perfect for you," Remus said wholeheartedly and Lily smiled in return.

"Plus he gives the best head, ever," Lily added, causing the two to burst out into drunken giggles.
"That too Lils, that too."

-

Remus felt like a headless chicken as he ran around the Potters manor, never before in his life had he cared what colour a tablecloth was, but still, he found himself saying frantically to some random guy who was setting up the tables, "Excuse me, I think you'll find that this tablecloth is white, not ivory."

However, as stupid as he may sound, Remus had taken his role as 'man of honour' very seriously. Taking on all the roles of the usual maid of honour would do, Remus had never felt so stereotypically gay in his entire life.

James and Lily had decided to hold the reception at the manor so that Effie wouldn't have to travel too far, as it was going to be a challenge in itself even getting her to the church. But Effie remained adamant about being there to see them marry.

"Right, so Lily's getting ready, the cake's in the kitchen and the ballrooms decorated. Now just to check on James," Remus muttered to himself, ticking off the items on his list that he had pinned on a clipboard, (he was taking this very seriously).

He marched over to the groom's wing, knocking on the door before swiftly entering James's childhood room that had been turned into his 'getting ready' room. Remus was prepared for the worst, fully ready to see a nervous James, muttering on about cold feet and second-guessing himself.

However, when he opened the door to the room, all he saw was James and Sirius, laughing merrily as James combed his hair—looking happy as Larry.

"Hey Moony," James greeted, looking at Remus through his reflection in the mirror. James looked exceptionally handsome, in a suit that Effie had picked out and a brand new pair of circular glasses that fit his face excellently. Remus breathed out a sigh of relief.

"Everything alright Prongsie?" Remus asked, walking in and giving Sirius a kiss on the cheek, examining his boyfriend—who looked exceptionally smug.
"Hey Pads, you wear a suit very well," Remus flirted, smoothing Sirius's tie as he grinned lazily.

"Could say the same about you Lupin, but I won't. Your ego doesn't need inflating," Sirius flirted back, stealing a kiss from Remus.
"My ego?" Remus laughed.

"Right you two, quit that mushy shit. Now Moons, how's my bride?" James asked, looking at Remus with a raised brow.
"Alive, breathing," Remus supplied, making James groan obnoxiously.

"No, I mean. Am I to expect a runaway bride?" James finished tying his tie and turned on the stool, giving Remus his best authoritative look.
"God you look just like Monty when you do that," Remus laughed and James chucked the comb at his head.

"Answer the question Lupin! Or so help me god," James screamed dramatically, Remus ducked to miss the flying comb and laughed.

"She's fine Prongs, zero runaway brides on this fine day. But you will have a runaway Lupin if you chuck another damn comb at me!" Remus yelped, and Sirius snorted uncontrollably.

James however, just nodded and turned back to the mirror, his smile only getting wider.

"Never did like churches much," Monty whispered to Effie whilst pushing her wheelchair down the aisle, trying to find their seats.

"I know love, you were practically bristling during our own wedding, I had to spend ages convincing you to let us get married in the church," Effie said fondly.

"Hey guys, your seats are at the front. Monty, the bride is requesting your presence," Remus said with a wink—grabbing the back of Effie's wheelchair to push her himself so that Monty could find Lily.

Monty smiled and nodded, kissing Effie on the cheek before turning to find the bridal room, and after getting lost twice (and walking into the ladies bathroom once), Monty found the correct room, knocking gently in anticipation.

"Hello Monty, don't you look handsome?" Marlene Mckinnon greeted, wearing a green bridesmaid dress, identical to the one worn by Dorcas and Alice.
"You look lovely Marley," Monty said with a soft smile, and Marlene kissed his cheek, leading him into the room slowly.

"Right Monty, close your eyes until I say so, yeah?" Marlene said, hand still on his arm, leading him further into the room. Monty kept his eyes tightly shut, the tingle of excitement fresh in his mind.

"Okay, open 'em," Marlene said, and Monty did.

He felt his breath hitch as he saw Lily standing in front of him. She looked positively radiant, wearing an incredibly elegant slip wedding dress and a short veil. Her hair was curled, bouncing across her shoulders gorgeously. Monty felt a burst of pride for his soon to be daughter-in-law. He couldn't wait to see James's reaction upon seeing her.

"Tada," Lily said meekly, her cheeks bashfully red as she watched Monty look at her.

"Oh darling, you look absolutely beautiful," Monty said softly, and Lily leapt forward, giving him a hearty hug. He smiled and hugged her back, pulling away and giving her a wink.

"Let's get you hitched then?"
"Aye, why not," Lily answered with a giggle, wrapping her arm with his before turning to smile at him, tears in her eyes.

"Thank you for giving me away," Lily said smally, almost as nervous as she was when she asked Monty to be the one to give her away.

"Oh hen, it's my pleasure," Monty reassured, knowing that Lily was the only girl he'd give away to James.

-

"I do."

The priest smiled at James, his confidant and assured answer making Lily smile uncontrollably. James felt tears prick in his eyes as Lily raised James's hand, kissing it gently as the priest spoke to her.

"Do you, Lily Evans, take James Potter to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, and from this day forward, for better, for worse. For richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" The priest repeated proudly, a small smile plastered on his wrinkled face.

"I do," Lily said, easy laughter erupting as she smiled at James, completely and utterly smitten. Remus swore that if James's smile was any wider then it would be too big for his face.

"I pronounce you husband and wife, You may kiss the bride!" The priest exclaimed, and James captured Lily's lips. The couple then kissed for much longer than what would be considered to be socially acceptable.

Remus thought it was the most beautiful ceremony in the world.

"Do you think that your aunties will ever stop looking at me like that?" Lily whispered to James, eyeing all of his overprotective aunties who were staring at her like she was the plague.

"Oh never. They all had ideas of setting me up with one of their friends' daughters," James laughed, dipping Lily as the song sped up. It had been his idea for the pair to have their first dance to 'Jolene .'

"Too late, you ended up with the pale Scottish ginger," Lily laughed, leaning into her husband.
"And I wouldn't have had it any other way," James smiled, kissing Lily softly as the song ended.

"Who knew that Prongs could dance?" Sirius said, butting in and throwing his arms around the two.
"Um, you? Since you're the one who taught me how to dance for the wedding?" James snarked, swatting Sirius with his palm.

"Oh yeah! Forgot about that, you're welcome Evans," Sirius winked, and Lily shook her head fondly. James ruffled Sirius's immaculately styled hair as he corrected, "It's Potter now."

Lily rolled her house and Sirius shrugged his shoulders, "She'll always be Evans to moi."
Lily gave a sly look to Remus—who had suddenly appeared by Sirius's side—and Remus smiled knowingly in return.

"Right you three, have a wee dance whilst I go see Eff," Lily said, patting Remus on the shoulder and walking towards the tables where people were sitting, talking merrily.

She was completely satisfied with her decision of having the wedding in the manor, the old ballroom made the perfect party revenue, and with a lot of help from the decorators, it looked positively enchanting.

Lily smiled as she sat down in a seat next to Effie, who was currently stealing a sip of Monty's brandy.
"Tut-tut Eff," Lily laughed as Effie put the glass down, a cheeky victory smile on her lips.

"Lily, I'm dying. I can have all the damn brandy I want," Effie said in her usual way, and Lily felt a small pang at the reminder of the short time she had left with her mother-in-law.

"But you hate brandy Eff, at least let me get you a sherry," Lily winked, trying to remain unfazed by Effie's bluntness. She laughed heartily at this, before ending it with a weak cough, making Monty turn around to hold a handkerchief to her mouth, rubbing her back gently.

"You alright love?" Monty asked and Effie nodded weakly, smiling sympathetically at Lily.

"Fine, fine. It's only stage four breast cancer," She joked, rolling her eyes like they were mental for worrying.

"Och aye, forgot about that," Monty joked back, shrugging his shoulders before turning around to talk to Horace.

Lily laughed along, remembering the way Effie had instructed everyone to not "Treat me like some sort of victim, my times coming and fair enough. Now can someone please make an inappropriate joke about how my boobs are killing me?"

"No doll, your boobs are killing me," Monty joked, wiping the tears away from his eyes

Effie smiled happily at her husband, before turning to Lily and grabbing her hands.
"Lily, you really do look absolutely stunning, and I would tell you if you didn't," Effie winked, and Lily blushed bashfully.

"Thank you Eff, but stop flirting with me. I'm a married woman!" Lily said, holding up her finger, displaying the gold band that now fit perfectly next to her engagement ring.

"Never," Effie said devilishly, and Lily shook her head lovingly, not knowing that this would be one of her favourite and last moments she would share with Effie.

Remus was drunk. He knew that for a fact, because he knew for a fact that sober him would never partake in the atrocious activity that most called karaoke.

"I've got the old man's carrrr," Remus sang, the cheap microphone that reeked of old beer echoing his drunken voice for the entire party to hear. "I've got a jazz guitarrrr," he continued, and the crowd joined in.

"I've got a tab at Zanzibar!" He continued, and Lily threw her beer in the air as she sang along heartily.
"Tonight!, that's where I'll bee, I'll beeeee," Remus finished the song, giving a wonky bow as the crowd cheered.

"Thank you, thank you! No autographs pretty please," Remus said into the mic before jumping off of the mini-stage, swaggering over to the group, taking Sirius's beer out of his hand and chugging it.

"Woah rockstar," James said, just as—if not more—drunk than Remus.
"Once you rock you don't stop," Remus retorted, strumming an air guitar whilst headbanging.

"Damn. That's hot," Sirius laughed, throwing his arm around Remus's waist. Remus rolled his eyes and stuck his tongue out at his boyfriend.

"Fuck me it's absolutely roasting in here," Lily said, fanning herself with a fancy napkin. She was, after all, still in a wedding dress, and the boys had at least been able to strip off their suit jackets and ties.

"Agreed, let's escape to the garden," Sirius said, grabbing both Remus and Lily's hands and dragging them out of the door and into the vast gardens of the Potter manor.

James followed in suit, and the four all giggled as they snuck into the garden, collapsing on the grass, the night breeze cooling them sufficiently. The four all lay down on the grass, drunkenly looking up at the stars that littered the Scottish sky.

Lily tangled herself with James, and Sirius snuggled into Remus, the two couples stealing a moment of silence in a rather chaotic day.

Eventually, Lily let out a deep sigh and spoke into the sky, "I think, I think that we're the type of friends that only come about once in a lifetime. I think that we were all destined to love one another."

Remus felt a sharp pang of pure affection soar through him as he smiled.
"Definitely," Remus agreed, leaning over and kissing Lily on the cheek.

"Oh Lupin, that's my wife!"
"She was mine first Potter," Remus quipped.

"Oi I belong to no man!" Lily chimed in, "but if I had to be someones, I would be Effie's."

The group burst out into easy laughter, forgetting their worries of tomorrow and yesterday. Just living in the moment, letting their love (and drunkenness) carry away the sorrows and woes of the future.
