i still can't believe that it was that long XD

Kakuzu: 

"-it won't be that long..." you mumbled following Kakuzu around the room as he replaced everything you had just put in your bag

"you're not leaving" he grumbled

You groaned but continued to follow like the little duckling girlfriend that you are.

This all started because you were sent a message from your older sister, via Tsunade-sama, and was sent right to Pein then to you.

Being so stoked about hearing your elder sister was safe and alive, you rushed to Kakuzu and immediately told him before rushing off to pack a bag.

"you said you watched her die, therefore it's a trick" he urged the point while you made faces behind him

"but what if she did live? I didn't exactly stick around to bury her or anything" you pointed out stubbornly "what if she's been looking for me this entire time?"

"it's highly improbably, that's what it is" he grouched

"then you should come and prove me wrong"

Your boyfriend stopped in his tracks and turned, as if he were made of gears instead of those stupid ass strings.

"what...?" he asked softly

Didn't he hear you?

Urgh! That man!!!

"if you're so sure that this is a trap...then you should come with me. You can make sure that you're the first to say 'I told you so'" you repeated the fact crossing your arms

"....but" he started but paused and carefully studied your expression

"well, you going to say no now?" you asked holding your hand out for your bag

The 5 hearted man glared at your hand for a good ten minutes...

Then your bag landed in your open palm

"don't expect to be getting any special treatment if we do, in fact, find your sister living" he grouched grabbing his own bag

"oh no, never~" you teased starting to re-pack your belongings for the trip.

The trip wasn't as bad as you had originally feared. Thankfully the land of your clan's home wasn't all that far from the Akatsuki base. You still had to deal with your delightful boyfriend's never ending grouching and grumbling. The continuous 'well, if she were alive...this would have happened' and what not.

You, in full and utter honesty, were so over it...that when you saw the village gates of the village hidden within the grass...well...

You almost dove and jumped for joy

Curiously...upon entering you were met with two young children. One, a little boy, no more than 3 while the other, a little girl, was about 5.

"hello, we're waiting for someone" the little girl with braided pigtails greeted

"oh...? Who are you waiting for??" you asked curious meanwhile you could hear Kakuzu scoff behind you

"don't bother those babies" he grumbled

"we're waiting for (name)!" she smiled brightly at you "mama said not to forget...but its hard to forget that name!" she giggled "mama is so silly, she forgot that its my name too!!!"

You blinked in shock and from the lack of complaining behind you, you could assume that the oh-so-dangerous-missing-nin was just as flabbergasted with the information

"really??" you asked with a patient smile

"yes! Mama said she had (h/c) hair..." the girl explained again

"like mine?"

"yeah!!! Just like yours!!!" the little boy next to her cheered

"oh~ what else??"

"mmmm..." she thought for a moment "she has (e/c) eyes too"

"like me?" you batted your lashes a few times

The two young children suddenly got glittery eyed and got close to you.

"what's your name...?!" they both called out loudly

"(name)" you grinned

"why do you have to drag everything out like this...?!" Kakuzu growled

"AH!!!! MAMA!!!!" the little boy screamed turning around and rushing off

"MAMA WE FOUND HER!!!!!" the little (name) screamed chasing her brother but paused, grabbed your hand and took off once more

"Kakuzu, don't leave me!" you called out quickly snatching his arm while you were dragged off by this little girl that shared your name.

Well...you had a killer grip sooo....Kakuzu was dragged along!

Sasori:

"-and so I'm going!" you huffed out loudly with your arms on your hips

Your oh so loving and doting boyfriend sat across from you, criss-cross-apple-sauce on the bed while to you stood before him with a comically large bag strapped to your back

"no" he uttered dully

"WHA!" you fell anime-style but quickly recovered! "BUT SASORI!!!!!"

"I said no" he repeated

You pouted in return and crossed your arms

"this is really important to me" you mumbled tears welling up in your eyes

Sasori paused in his motions and sighed. He tilted his head to the side and patted his thigh. You, for once, denied the attention and closeness you were always desperate to have. which irked your wooden man more than it probably should have.

You were being so odd.

"you don't understand...mama...i..." you clenched your eyes closed tightly shaking your head "I thought she was dead, this entire time. And she...she was everything to me. She was the only one I had left." You quickly shot your head up and yelled at him "SHE'S THE ONLY FAMILY I HAVE SASORI!!! DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?! THAT'S WHY I HAVE TO GO SEE HER!"

You yelled this.

Right

In

His

Face.

He wasn't pleased and he definitely felt a sting at the 'you don't understand', 'only family I have' remarks. Didn't he count? Wasn't he your family now?

He growled softly and grabbed your wrist and pulled you in close. you hadn't fought him but you started to softly cry. Unbearable anguish riddled sorrow trickled down your cheeks feeling your only hope to she her again was being snuffed out. You looked so defeated. So broken at the idea you had been separated this entire time and she had been alive. Alive and out there, but without you.

The redhead sighed and gathered you up into the sad little roll of sushi you are. Cocooned you in a blanket and then his arms and cuddled you close. hushing you softly and wiping away your tears, he tried his best to calm you down.

And he did!

2 hours later...but he did it.

He could tell that this adventure meant everything to you and that you couldn't go on with your life without seeing it through. So with an annoyed sigh he nodded softly agreeing that you could go and kissed your cheek.

"really...?" you hiccuped out softly

"...mhm..." he smiled and kissed you briefly "but I want to come with you. Just in case"

"in case of what?" you blinked as naïve and pure minded as always

"in case, my dear, that the message is a trap for you" he stated calmly and softly "but you know that I won't let anyone harm you"

You smiled brightly and nodded your head happily

"you won't let anyone hurt me, ever!"

"no I wont" he agreed

And so you two were off!

It wasn't a particularly long journey and in all honesty, Sasori felt as if it was like a small escape for the two of you from the rest of the Akatsuki. Despite you being an item within the group, you had very little alone time...well truly alone time. The majority of the member left you be after Sasori had made it his point that you were his girl and not someone for them to mess around with. But there was always someone else at the base, and you were always being interrupted from your coupled alone time.

So despite the pressing 'quest' to meet up with a mother that somehow wasn't deceased even though you had explained to him several times that your mother was stabbed and then burned by the enemy she had hidden you from...he still felt like it was relaxing and truly blessing your relationship.

It wasn't long before you reached the land of Whirlpools. Where your mother had said to meet her.

"where is the exact spot she was meeting you at (name)?" Sasori asked as he held your hand and helped you down a steep step in the old road

"mmmm...it was an old lighthouse on the edge of an abandoned village. She said it was where I was born" you answered with a shrug

"you act as though you have no remembrance of the place" he pointed out with a frown

"that's because I don't...Mama and I were on the road for as long as I can remember. I don't remember us ever living in one spot, much less a village that we might have been from" you explained softly "if I was born there...then mama must have run away with me before I had turned 3...I have memory of my third birthday...so it had to be before that"

"so you never had one home and were always on the move...?" he asked, taking this opportunity to learn about the past you rarely spoke about

"yeah, we met Tsunade-sama on the road all the time! I guess some bad people were after our clan...or just us maybe, I'm not sure. But I know when they killed mama she had told me to hide myself and to never let anyone know about our kekki genkai. She said that it was too dangerous to be left in the hands of bad people"

The puppet master sweatdropped at the mere thought of what your mother would say if you told her that you had joined a group of s-rank criminal missing ninjas...practically the complete opposite of what she had begged of you.

You could see in the distance the looming tall white lighthouse. But before you could get closer a confetti popper ignited nearby...alerting your presence to anyone around.

Sasori protectively stood around you with his puppets out and ready to spring at anything that dared to move towards you.

"oh...I wasn't expecting such a stiff man to be escorting my little minnow." A woman's voice rang out from beyond the bushes

"show yourself" sasori demanded

But you stared at the bushes with a thousand yard stare

"...mama...?" you called out softly

"you always found me, my little minnow" the voice cooed gently "I'm walking before you, my hands are up" she announced before doing just that.

Before you stood a woman with short, short (h/c) hair and a smile splayed on her painted lips. A large burn scar tore across her jaw on her left up and over across her right cheek and into the hairline. She was missing most of her eye brows and her shown skin across her body was similarily scarred with burns and a very noticeable stab wound just below her ribs was peeking out from her raised shirt.

"mama! You're alive!!!" you squealed rushing out of Sasori's grasp before he could stop you and launching yourself into her waiting arms.

She cooed you softly and ran her fingers through your hair, settling her face on top of your head and smelling your long missed scent. You could feel tears dripping onto your head and her shaky breaths

"I thought I had lost you forever (name)..." she looked up at Sasori and smiled brightly "my name is Umezuko...I'm her mother"

Tobi: 

"are we there yeeeeet?!"

You groaned loudly and smacked your face with your own hand.

"no, for the last time...NO!" you screamed back behind you

Your complaining boyfriend pouted behind his swirled mask, you could tell. In fact you could have sworn that there was a weird swinging tear escaping from the only eye hole in the visual impairment of his face.

Must've been your imagination.

"Tobi is tiredddd" he whined again

"I'm tired too, but we're not at the rendezvous point yet" you grouched as you trudged onward

Part of you really wished that you had snuck away quietly and hadn't told your childish boyfriend about this message from the past.

You had gotten the message from Pein, that had been passed on from Tsunade-sama and had originally came from your only living family member. So being excited to meet up with your cousin that you had long thought since dead...you quickly had run into your shared room and began to pack. But that is when Tobi had seen you and, very excitedly, demanded to know what was going on and where you were going.

So you told him.

What a big fucking mistake that was.

"this is near the hidden leaf" Tobi said quietly, for once.

You paused a moment and looked about then nodded

"yeah, my cousin wanted me to meet them at the village gates" you explained

"but...we can't go in" Tobi said quickly catching up to you and standing before you

"well, not with our cloaks on, no." you sighed then shifted your bag on your shoulder "why do you think I turned mine inside out? But...you're right"

Tobi squirmed about gushing about the compliment

"so we need to take them off" you finished your train of thought and began to peel off the long cloak

"b-but..." Tobi hesitated

Seeing this you walked to him and undid his cloak

"it's alright, nobody will know who we are" you assured but you were stopped by Tobi's hands on your own

"(name), I can't go in there without being found out" he said in a deeper and quiet tone

You heard this tone before, it usually threw you off because it came about out of nowhere like it did now...but you've heard him 'slip' enough times that it didn't startle you. You understood that Tobi but on a charade before the rest of the group and most of the time in front of yourself as well. You once talked about it and he explained to you his feelings were not a part of this fabrication – so you didn't press it at the time.

"are you...also from this area, tobi?" you asked looking up at his only visible eye

You felt him let out a deep sigh as his whole body slouched a bit

"I am" he answered softly and hugged his arms around you tightly

"well, it's a good thing that I brought a disguise" you giggled softly

"huh?"

"I knew that we'd have to go to the front gate – Lady Tsunade did say she'd post someone she trusted to ensure we met with my relative with ease...but I figured that a disguise would be better. Besides, we have a password and that is the only way they will identify us"

He nodded and bumped your forehead with his mask covered one

"you sure it will work?" he asked softly again

"yes" you smiled "I even got you another mask" you quickly squirmed in his hold and rummaged through your bag

"Tobi gets a present?!"

You neared the gates and were met with a man with a toothpick in his mouth

"halt, what's your business?" he asked with a slight nod

"I'm here on business. I was sent to meet someone sent by Lady Fifth, Tsunade." You stated in all seriousness.

The man looked you up and down before asking for a moment and turning back toward his guard spot. You assumed this was to speak to whom you were meeting. You adjusted the jagged white bangs hanging in your face and ran your hand over and past your wig's right spiked pigtail.

"Tsunade-sama said I was meeting her close friend, I wasn't expecting someone so young"

You brought your attention to the man walking over to meet you.

"looks can be deceiving, I'm sorry who are you?" you raised a brow unamused at this man...he was at least a chuunin – although he seemed much more powerful

"Kakashi Hatake" he bowed his head briefly to you then looked right at tobi "I was told only one person would be coming"

"he stays with me." You said stubbornly "I was under the impression that because of the circumstances and difficulty that someone to keep me safe on my journey was needed. I'm not someone that is welcome at all locations of this land"

"fine." He then gave you a side-eyed look " tell me, what were you told on that night under a full moon in the field of poppies?"

You rolled your eyes. You really had hoped the password thing would have been simple – so either Tsunade was being dramatic or this man was a moron.

"don't expect everyone to be as trusting. The key is to be wary"

There was a pause and for a moment you were worried that this was the wrong person and not the one Tsunade-sama had sent.

"bingo" he smiled, although he was partially covered by a mask of his own so it was hard to tell. "I'll take you to Koga"

You nodded and thanked the man, then motioned for Tobi to follow along. But for some reason...you could tell Tobi was unnerved by this man, Kakashi's, presence. Then again...perhaps it was because he was in the Village he was from.

"KAKASHI!"

You were greeted by the loud booming voice of your cousin as he stood on his balcony overlooking his own front door.

"hello Koga..." Kakashi seemed like he was over and done with this behaviour – probably something he'd dealt with before.

"and...wait..." Koga's eyes turned and looked down at you "(name)?!" his violet eyes sparkled as he leaned forward confused

"hello Koga" you rolled your eyes

"I KNEW IT WAS YOU!" he cheered then squinted at your form "what's with the wig??"

You groaned loudly

"so much for subtlety...Koga a disguise was for safety" you facepalmed

"it's alright miss (name)" Kakashi waved off your concern "Tsunade-sama told me it was you...although – next time perhaps using more of an in depth disguise would help. You carry the same attitude as you did when you were younger"

You growled at the white haired man. You thought that nobody would have remembered you...but turns out this Kakashi had met you before in the past

"who's with you?" Koga asked

"why don't we talk alone Koga??" you asked with a frown and your arms crossed. You were getting impatient

"oh, right..." he turned his gaze to Kakashi "thanks for bringing her to me dude, you'll have to thank Tsunade-sama for me"

Kakashi looked between eh three of you, his gaze settling more so on your boyfriend...once again he was studying him. But after a short blunt glare from you, he looked once more at Koga and with a nod, took his leave.

"so you got all this secrecy little cousin...why don't you share it with me?" he opened his door and waited for you to enter

"well, let's start with this..." you started walking inside "Koga, Tobi. Tobi, this is my cousin and only family left – Koga"

Zetsu: 

"-and you really want to go, huh?" Zetsu's light half asked once more

"I do" you nodded with a smile as you continued to pack things into a bag for the trip

"did you prepare for a trap?" his darker half asked as he leaned over to peek into the bag

"yes~" you laughed out softly looking back and up to him "no need to be worried, I'm a big girl you know" you teased

"oh yes, we-"

"what he means is that we know you're capable...but" his light half rolled his eye having cut himself off

"but they're luring you in with sensitive info" dark zetsu finished with a frown

You turned around to face your boyfriend and gently grabbed both his hands. You rubbed your thumbs back and forth on the top of his hands in a soothing manner and smiled up at his split-persona face

"I understand it came up abruptly and is oddly specific. There's information in that message that were things only my aunt Ukyo would know...if she didn't originally send it then whomever did, got that intel from her"

You kew your aunt was not one to give information up easily, so chances are that if she gave it up...it was under torture and the person that sent the message was very good at their job. Part of you wondered if it was Ibiki again...

You shuddered at the remembrance of your time in his attention.

"do you want us to come with you...?" white zetsu asked in a gentle tone

He must've seen you shudder...

"I'm o-"

"we'll just come along" black zetsu confirmed before his other side or you could deny it

...

And that is how you ended up with your oh so loving and hovering boyfriend following you along to the hidden sand.

You didn't mind that much, but you had wished that you could settle this family matter quietly. Although, you supposed it was your fault in the end...you had told him about it excitedly and you also had avoided all communication about your family in the past – except for saying that your only family member had given you a chance to escape with your life at the cost of theirs.

He never bothered you for details either as he didn't ever have any details about his family, whether he didn't have it or didn't want to say...you didn't mind being in the dark since you understood wanting privacy on the subject yourself.

"where we are going? Will it be where you grew up?" the lighter side asked softly

You sighed having been hoping for more silence but nodded

"I grew up in the hidden sand...well, for a short time. It was the one location we stayed in the longest. But we're from this land, just not from the literal hidden village. My, uh...my aunt..." you paused with a deep breath "she took me from our clan's home when I was very young"

"so in other words, you don't know jack about your past" dark zetsu rolled his eye with his grouch

You shook your head to confirm his suspicion

"I don't remember anything from then, not even my parents. The most I remember is my life on the run with my Aunt. But this village was a place we stayed in so long that it was the only place that had the title 'home' in my mind."

Zetsu nodded and closed the distance between you two so that you could walk together rather than him trailing behind you at a short pace.

"will your aunt be meeting us at the gates?"

"no" you answered running your hand through your hair "she has a friend that will be meeting us there and taking us to her. Which is why I said we had to leave our cloaks behind"

Zetsu groaned softly at the reminder of the silly disguise he was wearing. Both halves agreed...the disguise you gave him to hide his features was ridiculous. Long sleeves, wide brimmed hat with a veil and a high collar. He hated it...but for you...

You, simply wore something a tad concealing – not many knew your face only your name as an Akatsuki, but to be safe you did put on a wig and contacts.

When you neared the gate, you were met with annoyed looking guards. They asked you whom you were, what your business was, where you came from, the whole shebang. But thankfully after saying you were here to see your aunt and stating the man with you was your companion...

"it's alright, I'm here to meet her" a woman called as she walked over to the gates. She wore normal sand ninja garb and nothing about her seemed to stick out dramatically. "Shizuka asked me to meet you little niece" she smiled holding her hand out

You narrowed your gazed briefly deciding if this woman was truly your Aunt's friend or someone that was just faking it and after the kekki genkai...but she seemed genuine

"nice to meet you, if you please...bring me to my aunt" you bowed your head briefly but shook her hand all the same

"of course," she turned about and started walking off "this way – try not to get separated"

There were several odd and disorienting turns and twists in the path...but soon you were brought into an abode and standing before you, in all her glory, was your Aunt Shizuka.

"oh (name)..." she cooed scooping you into her embrace "I'm so glad you made it out safe"

"I thought you were dead...why didn't you get a hold of me before?" you asked feeling emotional

"I can answer that..." the woman sighed softly "I came across her shortly afterward. I was keeping her hidden until she fully recovered"

"yes," Shizuka smiled grabbing the woman's hand "Hana took very good care of me, if not for her...I wouldn't be alive to talk to you now"

"so...you're an item?" dark zetsu asked before his lighter half could shut him up

"...I suppose you could call it that" Hana smiled then excused herself to get refreshments

"so...who's the boy~?" your aunt cooed with a smirk

"Zetsu, this is my Aunt Shizuka." You introduced then turned to zetsu and pulled him closer to where your aunt and you were speaking "Aunt Shizuka, this is my boyfriend. He's very unique...and I love him most of all"

"is that so...." She quirked a sly smile

sorry it took so long to write but i was fully intending on this being a single part chapter all up until five minutes or so ago when i finished it XD

i'm hoping i won't have any long chapters like this for a while 

they're exhausting!!!!
