for the purposes here, your bf (regardless of Canon death order) outlives several characters. I'll be keeping the deaths in order other than your boyfriend. 

ex: Deidara's has him alive but Sasori and the zombie squad are dead.

In which case, explaining said living is left completely open so to not clash with the canon but also because its more work I don't wanna do lol

You had noticed it a bit ago. 

One by one, members were slowly not coming back to the hideout...so you kept an eye on it. Thinking they were on longer missions or had been captured - something like that. 

But after it occurring a few more times...you decided to ask-




Kisame:
"where did they go?"

Kisame almost jumped at the sound of your voice but still had a surprised air about him.
Looking around he saw your form leaning against the door frame to your shared room. You were already in your pjs and were clinging to the wood there, your eyes big and staring up at him.

"who?" he asked turning back around.

He hoped your wouldn't press it further. He tried so hard to keep you out of the akatsuki's business even more than Pain ever did.

but the dreaded words followed

"the others, Kisame..." you said softly "its...its getting so quiet here..."

He could tell you were worried, you easily got along with a good chunk of the missing ninjas and considered them friends. Well, logically speaking it would've happened at some point having spent so much time living with them all

"oh" he feigned surprise by your words "they ah, they each have different reasons for not coming back yet"

"like...?"

Kisame cursed in his mind, running a hand through his hair

"ah, well let's see..." he trailed off

"Deidara? Where is he?"

"Deidara huh...he uh...wanted to have a meeting with someone in the hidden stone, sounded like it was someone important from his past" he fibbed

"Sasori?"

"believe it or not, Sasori went to visit his grandmother"

at least that one was half true...

"...Hidan and Kakuzu...?" you slowly made your way over as he began

"well, to be fair...they never got along. Kakuzu probably went to grab some bounties and dragged Hidan with him as punishment" he forced himself to chuckle and turned to see you right behind him.

You stared up at him with worried eyes and fingers twisting the hem of your shirt

"and...what...what happened to Itachi...?"

Kisame frowned at his partner's name. He had gone back before he did and he wasn't sure what happened as of yet...But he had a decently good idea

"Itachi's only been gone a short time, I'm sure he'll come back soon" he said his large hands settling on your shoulders and rubbing small circles "we should get him some dango since he'll be so tired, don't you think?"

You didn't answer him right away...and instead, when you did, you wrapped your arms around his middle

"they're dead...aren't they?"

"...I haven't heard about Itachi yet...but the others are" he grumbled quietly, unhappy to know he was seen through

You nodded feeling tears well up as you buried your face into him.

Kisame leaned down a tad and held your close, knowing how hurt you were by the revelation.

Hidan:
"how come everyone's late coming home?"

"how should I know?" Hidan barked lounging before the tv

"you're an actual member?" you reminded

"you think I pay attention?" he scoffed

"then ask Pain where they are!"

"that's a whole lotta nah, aint happening. Show's on"

you stood there silently for a few moments before you snatched the remote

"Hidan, I mean it. Where are the others?"

Hidan was forced to look at you this time to yell for the remote back...and was not prepared for the look on your face.

"fuck..." he whispered sorrowfully "babe, (name), it's official Akatsuki business where they are...it's not really something I can discuss with you"

Your frown only deepened

"so...if you cant tell me where they are...can you say when they'll be coming back?"

"ahhhh....."he drawled out with a groan "why don't you just accept easy, short answers?"

"because I'm worried"

"hah! worried?! for who? those morons?!" hidan mocked.

who knew his girlfriend had such a joking disposition
after your silence only grew the jashinist suddenly felt a chill.

Fuck.

And he really wanted to avoid talking to you about this...

"don't...don't waste your worry on those guys" he said in a much softer tone, now pushing himself up to sit while he talked to you.

"they're our friends and housemates...of course I worry"

undeniably sweet and cute...but it wasn't enough

"(name)" he grabbed your hand and tugged you around the couch and to him

"I'm serious"

"the guys are really busy and might not come back for a very long time -or hell they could die since they're not immortal like I am"

you nodded softly and cuddled into him

Hidan sighed deeply, thankful you didn't press any further on his co-workers.

Deidara:
you had noticed Sasori not return with your lover and although perplexed and curious...figured it was part of the mission. So when he eventually answered 'Oh, Sasori's just lost a bit'...it hadn't dawned on you the meaning within his words.

Regardless, at the time you didn't press.

But you had been looking for Hidan around the Base for a good 5 weeks, he HAD to have returned at some point.

The two of you were watching a show together and you had been taping the episodes he wasn't there for, and trying desperately not to watch much so you wouldn't accidentally spoil anything for him. But like, you were getting sick with it!

"DEIDARA! TELL ME WHATS GOING ON THIS INSTANT!"

Deidara yelped and dove for the side of the bed to hide from your form

"I, uh, haven't the foggiest idea of what you're talking about, my love. What's got you all in a bad mood, yeah?"

you huffed with your hands on your hip- aka your power woman pose and stared him down

"it's been over a month, whatever mission Hidan's on has GOT to be over with. This is ridiculous! How are we going to keep watching our show this way?! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN SELENE AND MAMOROU!"

You waited for an answer that never came. And after a few minutes you stomped your right foot in annoyance.
"Deidara, stop not saying anything its so messed up"

"...well..." he began slowly "you know Hidan always takes a while"

you stared down at the blonde

"he said it was a short mission, a few days at max and that there would only be 2 episodes to tape...I have 26! 26 EPISODES DEIDARA! I'm running out of vhs tapes!"

the blonde sweat dropped.

Was the problem that you missed Hidan? or that you were unable to watch the show over your self-imposed law to not watch without the immortal???

"...Does...it have to do with Sasori not returning either?"

"danna? why are you bringing hi-"

"its been 3 months since he left...you came back a week after the mission, he never returned."

"oh, you're just not see-" Deidara began another cover up story to keep you in the dark but you stopped him in his tracks

"I'm...I'm not blind. Or stupid...I just" you sighed deeply feeling your heart become heavy with your words "I just want the truth. your lies aren't making me feel better. They just delay my reaction to what you need to be saying to me"

"they're not coming back" he confirmed suddenly

you felt the weight lift for a moment with his truthful words only for a heavier weight dragged you further down

"so..."

"yeah"

"they're dead...aren't they?" you asked quietly

you watched Deidara sigh and stand up before making his way to you. Easily, you were wrapped in his arms for a safe closeness

"Pein said they are. Sasori had a hard time fighting his grandma and this konouichi from the leaf"

you nodded clinging back

"Hidan?"

"I'm not sure what happened to him or Kakuzu. But Pein said they're dead now" he said the words as gently as he could "I think, Hidan would want you to keep watching without him"

"...I don't want to...plus it'd be weird. I really enjoyed having fun and watching it together"

the bomber nodded agreeing. He had seen the two of you getting along with this show often and at times it had made him jealous...but you had quickly made it known that Hidan was only ever seen as a friend or brother figure. And while he had been skeptical, he saw how excited Hidan was for the 'title' and in an instant had no worry about your ditching him for Hidan.

"I miss them"

Deidara said no more and only pulled you closer

Itachi:
you were dusting your room. There wasn't much in a way of belongings...and most were yours. But you felt the need to clean more recently. Holding a keepsake in your left while you dusted it with the cloth on your right you sighed.

Things were getting so strange recently...the group seemed to be more active as of late. Conversations were more hushed and they seemed to return in increasingly worse shape.
But then you noticed, slowly but surely, members weren't returning.

Deidara and Sasori were sent out to the sand village, for what they wouldn't say. But promised to bring back a treat from the land of wind. Which you were looking forward to. You knew at some point Itachi spoke to them, because when he had returned he said they were on their way back. Which made you more anxious to know what snack they were returning with! But then...Sasori didn't return to the hideout, Deidara did but he said something about Sasori went back on his own. You figured Sasori went back for ingredients or his own snack.

But then the pattern began to repeat...2 would leave and someone wouldn't come back. 

Hidan and Kakuzu were next, when they didn't return you had asked Kisame. Since you were pretty close to him as well - I mean he spent almost all his time with Itachi so you were bound to make friends. Even if he made you uneasy at times. The blue man had shrugged at the time and explained Kakuzu's love for bounty hunting. You took it as a reason.

Deidara went out again with Tobi. Tobi was always a little weird...but you couldn't hate the guy, he was always nice to you after all.
Deidara didn't return this time.
Tobi avoided you like the plague, you figured he was easy to wrestle info out of and that's why he ran from you.

"-(me)"

you blinked and noticed you hadn't moved or continued cleaning

"you've been cleaning the same item for over ten minutes" Itachi's voice, although quiet, rang out clear and easy

"something bothering you, Sunshine?"

You turned to see Kisame was peeking in the door past your lover and you offered him a smile in greeting

"I'm okay..."

"are you?" Itachi countered.

you gave in immediately with a huff

"where is everyone going? and why aren't they returning?"

the was a pregnant pause before Kisame hefted samehada onto his shoulder

"wellp, I'll just leave you lovebirds..." he then quickly left the area, no doubt using the full extent of his legs' reach with each step.

"Itachi?"

your dark haired beau sighed, head drooping a bit as he walked in

"sit down on the bed..." it wasn't an order, but you could tell by his tone he didn't want you to be surprise by the news and get hurt

so you set the keepsake down and sat on the end of the bed

"is it that bad?" you played with your fingers. 

Itachi easily narrowed in on your behaviour and gave a soft smile. You were just such a nice girl, you even worried about the others despite all their anger, hatred and malice. Knowing that just made the news feel even hard to bear.

"the others will not be returning...their missions are...harsh. The stakes are very high."

your lips slowly descended with each word until you were frowning and the Uchiha could easy see tears gathering in your lashes

"I cant give you specifics...but those who don't make it back have passed"

you sniffled and hung your head, trying to hide in on yourself

"so...Sasori...and Hidan...and Kakuz-"

"and Deidara" he finished making his way to you and opening his arms up. and invite you dove into

"don't go on anymore missions! Kisame either!"

Itachi chuckled dryly at your response. Of course, the easiest way to stop one from not returning...is for them to never leave at all.

"I-I'll tell leader that I'll go instead! I don't want you guys hurt and not being able to come home!"

dark eyes narrowed at your words and you were squeezed tighter

"I'm afraid this is not something you can make go away like that, my dear"

"and why not?!"

"because, I believe there is much more going on behind the scenes that could ever be known"

you peeked at him confused by his words. But he didn't notice you this time, and instead was staring off into space. clearly it was really bad for Itachi to be so concerned.

"then..." you snuggled up close to him burying your face into his neck, rooting for that sense of safety he seemed to drown you in "then you and Kisame stay right beside each other. You watch each others backs and you both make it home."

"..." he sighed but smiled, turning his cheek to kiss your temple "i will stay close to Kisame" he vowed softly

"thank you" you breathe out relieved

Kakuzu:
"you've been less busy...and the portions have gotten a bit heftier"

Kakuzu raised a brow and peeked over at you

"what?"

"the money you give everyone for allowance"

"its not allowance" he grumbled

"its a glorified allowance. Just like your secret stash disguised as a pig is still a piggy bank"

your lover growled at you but went back to his calculations

"why's it bigger?"

"the money?"

"that's what I asked you about"

"I got some good bounties recently" he shrugged quickly.

you didn't buy that, Kakuzu rarely had left the hideout for the last 2 months...how would he have gotten bounties while the furthest he's been was the perimeter for his turn at guard duty?

"are they coming back soon?"

"the bounties? no, they're murdered. That's how it works."

you rolled your eyes

"the others"

"oh. From what?"

you squinted at his response. Now you knew for sure. He was playing dumb

"Kakuzu"

"hn" he grunted still working on his paper

"tell me the truth" you pressed

you saw his green eye drift back to your form from the paper and study you for a moment.

"they're not returning, I'm sorry to be the broker of bad news" his voice was rough although you could tell he felt at least a little bad

"why not?"

"because they're dead"

you blinked several times. what did he just say???

Sasori

you had spent the last 3 hours hunting. searching the entire base for everyone...but for some reason they were no where to be found. Their missions couldn't have been that long of missions...Sasori came back rather quickly, so where was everyone else?

"there you are"

you crawled out from under Deidara's bed

"hi Sasori~" you beamed

your redheaded beau raised a brow at you with an odd yet endearing smile

"just what are you doing in here, love?"

you blinked at him confused by his question

"this is Deidara's room" he clarified

you glanced around briefly then turned back to him and stood up

"i know! I cant find them anywhere!" you huffed childishly and let your weight fall into his arms.

Sasori, easily catching you, chuckled

"who?"

"everyone else"

if sasori hadn't been made a puppet...you would have noticed him stiffen at your words, instead you felt the strange air about him for a moment. but you were too content with being flopped in his arms to really do much about that.

"well-"

"its just you came back so quickly and everyone else is taking forever!" you complained and cut him off "what on earth could take that long to do?!"

Sasori had meant to tell you. he meant to every time it occurred so that you had time to mourn them individually...however every time he tried to you answered him with that sweet unsuspecting smile of yours...and he would vow to put it off for a moment. But that happened enough times for this moment to happen now. A moment where you had no idea that those who had not returned were now long since dead.

"(name), we need to have a little chat" he started out leading you away from Deidara's room and into your shared one

"okie, sure!" you smiled "what's up Sasori?"

your boyfriend frowned inwardly, he already wanted to put it off yet again...
once you were settled on the bed and your lover beside you, Sasori began to explain.

How Deidara, Hidan, Kakuzu and Itachi had all gone on various missions and had died in them. That the reason they hadn't come home was because they were never coming home. How he had tried to tell you, but he just couldn't bare telling you something he knew would make you so unbelievably sad.

and so, not even a moment after he finished, you were curled up in his lap wailing. Your hand clinging to his clothes while your legs straddled his wooden lap, your face pressed to his chest as you sobbed mourning your lost friends and housemates.

(these will be shorter for the obvious reason that if you ask too much you're gonna be in trouble you don't wanna be in)

Tobi:

"-but Tobi doesn't know anything!" Tobi exclaimed loudly running away from you in your shared room

"come-on! Stop being so weird, where's everyone going!!!!" you yelled diving for him, only to pass through him and Tobi to run out of the door

It wasn't until much, much later at night that you tried again. This time...

"(name)." the dark voice that Tobi hid most of the time spoke "drop it"

You couldn't help but shudder as a line of ice shot through your spine at the tone

"b-but..." you protested only to see him turn with sharingan showing through that one eye hole

"you need to stop asking. Otherwise I cannot be held accountable as to what will happen to you..."

There was a hint of sorrow in the threat...but with fear licking at the back of your mind, you silently nodded and decided not to ask again.

Zetsu:

"you know, first it was Sasori, then it was those two chuckle heads that aren't supposed to be able to die, then-THEN-!!"

You felt a hand cover your mouth mid yell. 

Surprised you blinked then turned your head to see an anxious Zetsu

"you will cease talking about the members whom haven't come back" black zetsu growled

"it's...for the best...please understand. Otherwise we can't protect you."

"what...?" you asked muffled by his hand. You were in absolute disbelief. Was this even fucking real???

"please."

With unrest settling deep in your body, you gave in. You would stop, at least for now.

For certain scenarios, regardless of how hard it is for me to write Tobi and Zetsu at times, both Tobi and Zetsu 's parts will be shorter. 

THis is due to the fact that certain things would not be dicussed with you, as their girlfriend/wife, no matter what. Like i think they would rather take the info to the grave than actually let you know anything.

So just a heads up
