It was a couple days before prom and you still hadn't been asked. You had no idea what your boyfriend, (H/N) was doing. Maybe he thought you'd just go with him without being asked. With all the cute prom-posals happening around school, maybe he'd eventually take the hint.

It was Wednesday, two days before prom. Your school had an early release, which gave you time to go on a walk with (F/N), your best friend.

"(Y/N)!" (F/N) yelled, catching up. "Did you see how my boyfriend asked me to prom today?!? It was so cute!!" She said, excitedly. "Yeah, I did," you said back, unenthusiastic. "Haven't you been asked yet by (H/N)?" She said, catching your tone. "No, I haven't," you replied, looking away. She immediately stopped. "WHAT! How come he hasn't-" She began, but then her phone interrupted. She walked off to a bench, but told you to stay where you were. She seemed to be smiling and excited. "(Y/N), let's go get some ice cream and we'll go to the park for a little while," she replied, bouncing over after her phone conversation.

After getting ice cream from your favorite ice cream place, you two walked to the park. The walk was actually really fun, because (F/N) began pointing out people and making up stories about them, each story resulting in a fit of laughter.

Once at the park, she took you up a small hill that overlooked the park. There was only a small amount of people, but it was only 4:00. It had been awhile since you had been able to relax and come to the park due to school work. You two talked and ate your ice cream.

Every hour, the fountains in the park would go off. They put on a very entertaining show and the fountains, of course, were beautiful. Only a few minutes later, the fountains stopped though, instead of carrying out until the 30 minutes were up. "What's going on?" You asked. "You'll see," (F/N) said, standing and pulling you up with her.

Throwing your ice cream cups away, you trotted down the hill to the pavement. The other people in the park were realizing the fountain thing, too, so everyone was gathering.

After a few minutes, you saw what looked like three guys holding up a big sign in the middle of the fountains. You wanted to walk closer to read it, but (F/N) grabbed your hand. She lead you closer.

Once close enough, you could see there was silver and gold lettering on the sign, but couldn't see much else. However, following your arrival, an amazingly good looking man came from behind the sign. He was dressed formally. "Can you read the sign?" (F/N) whispered to you. "No," you replied, she brought you closer. The man seemed to be looking at you, and smiling.

Now on the same platform the man was, you saw the man was actually your amazingly good looking boyfriend, (H/N). You smiled, "What's all of this?" (F/N) grabbed your phone from you, "You'll thank me later," she said, hurrying off to the other side. (H/N) gestured for you to look at the sign. It read, "(Y/N), will you be my mermaid and go to Prom with me?"  You giggled and said yes. The guys with the sign cheered, but then ran off to the side, also. You felt something cold on your neck and looked down to see a beautiful, silver necklace with a sparkling heart pendant. You smiled and reached to hug (H/N), but was answered with the words, "Cover it." "What do you mean, cover it?" "Hurry! Cover it!" He laughed and water began shooting up. You screamed, but then began laughing. (H/N) was holding you and thankfully, you put your hand over the heart pendant. Everyone around you was cheering. (H/N) then let go and kissed you.

After the fountains went back down, and you and (H/N) were soaked, you were greeted by a very excited (F/N), who then attempted to hug you, but then backed up after realizing your clothing condition. (H/N) then again, greeted you with flowers and hugged you.

This was definitely going to be the best prom ever.
