Swinging gracefully through the ropes, Evan was practicing for the new recruit. They said he was brought in after his family had left him on the streets. And that his name was Connor. They told Evan that he would be teaching him his skills. Nervous, Evan decided to practice as much as he could to show Connor his best tricks. 

He wrapped his leg around the rope as he climbed up and swung towards the next rope. Letting go he gracefully grabbed the other rope and swung upside down while his leg, now wrapped around this rope, held him in place. Evan was too engulfed in his practice to notice a tall handsome boy had walked into the tent. 

He looked up and was mesmerized by the boy swinging through the ropes. "Hello?"

Startled, Evan fell but his leg was still wrapped around the rope tightly. So, he simply was left hanging in front of Connor. Connor smiled as Evan's leg unwrapped itself and he caught Evan in his arms. "A-Are you C-Connor?" He nodded as Evan's cheeks grew red with Connor's. 

"Are you going to teach me all of those tricks you were doing?!" Connor asked excitingly as he set Evan down. "Y-Yes, eventually do you have any experience with trapeze?" Connor shook his head, "My parents always gave my sister all of the lessons and such." Evan placed a hand on his shoulder, "Well, now you have a mentor, and I will teach you everything I know." 

Connor beamed with happiness as he and Evan walked to costume to find a leotard. Evan's was light blue one, they found a light grey one for Connor, and perfect for him. "Okay, now that you look the part, we should start with the basics." He showed Connor how to safely wrap his leg around the rope and keep it secure. 

"You let go for even a second, and you fall." They practiced for a few hours til the ring master, Jared, called for lunch. "So, how's it going with the new guy?" He asked while biting into his sub. "He's actually very flexible,"  "and cute~" he said the last part below a whisper, but Jared still heard. "Look's like our little Evan's got a crush." Evan's blush started to come back as Connor walked up to them. 

"Hey Connor, do you wanna go on the swings tomorrow?" Connor looked up from his sub and smiled so wide that Evan smiled with him. "Yes! Oh my gosh, I am so excited!" For the rest of the day, Evan and Connor took a well deserved break and talked.

"So your dad and mom abandoned you too?"  "Sort of, my father left when I was young, and my mom couldn't afford to raise me anymore, so she left me to Jared's dad who raised me into the trapeze artist I am today." Connor smiled, "My parents didn't really care about me, all they cared about was Zoe." Connor looked like he was about to cry so he placed his hand on Connor's. They intertwined their fingers as Evan leaned into Connor's chest. They sat on the floor so, it would be more comfortable. 

"So, are we gonna practice at night too?" Evan shook his head, "No, c'mon you can sleep in my trailer." He followed Evan to his rusty trailer, opening the door he found it to be beautiful, glittery stars and streamers hanging from the ceiling and small trees on some tables. There were some photos of Jared and Evan when they were children. Playing, laughing, smiling. "You and Jared must be close,"  "He's like my older brother."Connor sighed in relief as he and Evan got into bed. 

"Good night Connor." Evan said as he snuggled up in his chest.

"Good night Evan."
