Day 14
(Gender beant and modern medieval)
There is one bad thing about being a princess: everyone thinks you're weak. 'Little Michelle needs everything handed to her' ugh! It's annoying as it is but when my father hired a personal bodyguard, that crossed the line. I was walking towards my room where my bodyguard is supposed to meet me. I made sure to walk as slow as possible, dragging my feet. I saw my mother in the main room and she glared at me.
"Michelle, posture! And stop slouching!" I straightened my back and walked to my room. I rolled my eyes and turned the corner.
I was expecting a really buff, scary guy in a tuxedo but I was greeted by a beautiful girl around my age with light brown hair. She had the stereotypical knight outfit and a sword. Her hair was put in a messy bun but she was standing straight. (The only part of them that is straight are their backs)
"Good morning Princess Michelle. Your father has hired me to guard you." I was still staring because she was the most beautiful person I have ever seen. "Your highness?"
"What? Oh yeah. Well, thank you for protecting me." I rolled my eyes at the end. I could tell she knew I didn't was a guard. She lifted an eyebrow.
"What's wrong Princess?"
"I just don't need anyone to look after me! For God's sake, I'm sixteen! I can take care of myself without anyone helping me. I'm not some fragile girl!" I turned around to see if my guard was judging me. "Sorry, you probably didn't want to hear that."
"It's fine Princess. I know how you feel. My family wanted me to marry someone rich nobleman, Chris Canigula, and be a typical wife but I didn't want to. So I ran away and became a knight." She turned back and acted like we never had a conversation.
"If you're going to follow me around all the time, I might as well get to know you. Let's start with names." I held out my hand. "You probably already know mine but hi, I'm Michelle Mell." They smiled.
"Jamie Heere, at your service. We should talk another time or else your father will be upset with me." I smiled to myself because I might actually like having Jamie as my bodyguard.
"Okay. I usually walk in the garden around noon. We could talk then." Jamie smiled and nodded and then returned to her professional state.
I went into my room and flopped down on my bed, love sick. I sighed and picked up a book.
Jamie's POV
I followed Michelle into the garden. Her hair was down and rested on her red dress. She looked so elegant but independant.
"So Jamie, what do you do on your free time?" I had my hands folded behind my back. I was supposed to keep a straight and professional posture.
"I rarely have free time but when I do, I mostly read."
She turned around, excitement in her soft brown eyes. "I read too! There are some really good book in our library! Tell me you've read The Fault In Our Stars." I shook my head. I have heard it was pretty good but I couldn't afford more than five books. Michelle gasped. "You've never read it?! What about the Percy Jackson series? Please tell me you've at least read the Harry Potter series!" I shook my head to all of them. Michelle then took my hand and ran to where I'm guessing the library was.
"You are reading those book or so help me!" I smiled because I was feeling something for this princess. I know it would never work because she was a princess and I was her guard. I couldn't help it, I think I was falling in love.
Third Person POV (sorry for the POV changes)
Michelle and Jamie were in the library, picking out all the books Michelle loved when a servant barged into the room.
"Princess, seek cover quickly! The castle is under attack!" The servant looked at Jamie. "You know where to take the princess. Prove that you are a good guard." The servant then ran away.
Jamie put down the books and grabbed Michelle by the wrist. "You need to come with me. There is a safe room where I'm supposed to bring you in case an attack happens." She tried to bring the princess but Michelle resisted.
"I can take care of myself! I don't need anyone! I thought you would understand!"
"I do but I don't want you to die!" Michelle was about to argue but an attacker barged into the room. Jamie jumped in front of Michelle and put a protective hand around her. The attacker pulled out a sword and charged at Jamie. She unseathed her own and met the attacker with a clang of the metals.
Michelle didn't know what to do so she stood and watched. The attacker tripped Jamie and threw her sword across the room. They put their arm around Jamie's neck and held her down. Michelle looked at the sword that dropped at her feet. She suddenly had an idea. She kicked off her shoes and picked up the sword. She started to run but then realized her dress would get in the way. She took the end of the sword and slashed her dress at her knees, allowing more motion. Michelle then charged at Jamie's attacker.
She slashed at their arm, which caused them to let go of Jamie. The guard fell to her knees and gasped for air. She grabbed the attacker's sword and pointed it at their throat.
"Leave and never come back."
"Never." Michelle then hit their head with the end of her sword. They attacker crumpled and blacked out. Michelle smiled and took Jamie's hand as they both ran into the castle to fight more attackers. This was the way Michelle would prove that she doesn't need anyone to help.
Prove that she is independent.
This might be my favorite so far. I was really excited to write a gender swap story. I might do another but I don't know yet. Have a nice day
