Chapter 12-3

"Where are we going?" Charlie nearly cried as Pace continued to lead her along the edge of the graveyard. "Please! Let me go back! I was just-"

"We're almost there," said Pace plainly, maintaining his grip.

"Where?" Charlie asked again, but her question was answered as a small two-story cottage began to take form just ahead. A sign above the door read 'Lilah's Inn'.

"Huh?" Charlie knit her brows as Pace pushed her towards the door.

"You'd have never made it back to Olympus before the storm," said Pace as he led her inside.

"But-" Charlie bewilderedly looked around. They had just stepped into a small, dim room filled with little round tables; a couple was sipping coffee from a sofa near the window.

"Good evening, Mr. Nevea!" a man appeared behind a desk with a smile. "Your usual room?" he asked.

"Thanks, Dez," said Pace, accepting a key from the man and actually returning his smile. "Come on," he turned to Charlie and began towards a spiral staircase in the back corner of the room.

"Who was that? What is this place?" Charlie questioned as Pace led her to the second floor and down a narrow hall.

With no answer, Pace placed the key into a doorknob and opened a room.

"Huh?" Charlie peeked inside. The room contained a little desk, chair and a bed. "Is this where you've been coming all those nights you don't sleep in the dorm?"

"You can stay until the rain stops," said Pace, entering the room.

"Thanks..." Charlie eyed him suspiciously as she followed him inside. "Hmm, this is kind of tiny," she awkwardly continued, looking around. "I mean, it's smaller than the bedrooms in Athens."

"But its quieter," said Pace. "And there's no annoying night light," he added with a smirk as he tossed his bag towards the desk and it fell onto the floor. "I don't know how you can stand that bright thing in our room."

"Wait. Did you just say our room?" Charlie stared at him wide-eyed, but Pace ignored her surprise.

"I'm going to go get some coffee from downstairs," he told her. "I'll be back."

"Why's he being so nice?" Charlie frowned in confusion as she turned to further inspect the room.

It was rather plain, but had a very homey feel. A small oil lamp sat on a table near the bed, and a framed picture hung above. A girl with dark black hair smiled down from the photo.

"Oh!" Charlie gasped as her suspicions were confirmed. "That's the girl from Juno! Delilah! So I was right! She is Pace's girlfriend!"

"Here," Pace returned a few moments later with two mugs of warm coffee.

"You got one for me?" Charlie was shocked to see him offering her a cup.

"You must be freezing from standing there in the woods watching me all night," said Pace. "Here," he said again, handing her the mug.

"Thanks," said Charlie gratefully. "So... how long do you think this storm will last?" she wondered before taking a sip.

"Dez just told me the radio report said it's gonna be a bad one and he doesn't want anyone going back out in it," shrugged Pace. "So I guess you're going to have to stay the night."
