     ✸ Born in Gwanju, South Korea, where she grew up alongside childhood best-friend and now bandmate, Jung Hoseok.

✸ Has two older brothers, who are twins, and one younger sister. Her brothers, Mingi and Doyul, were born in 1993, whereas her younger sister, Eunhye, was born in 2000.

✸ Moved to Spain at the age of eleven due to her father, a traditional entrepreneur, receiving a prosperous business opportunity in the city of Madrid.

     ✸ Attended a Spanish public school with her brothers. Excelled in all lessons and learnt Spanish fluently within months.

✸ Returned to South Korea at the age of sixteen to take care of her Grandmother in Seoul.

✸ Sunny became a trainee a year later after her return in 2012 after being persuaded by Hoseok. She'd debut a year later in 2013 alongside him in the band Bangtan Sonyeondan, better known as BTS.

✸ Despite popular conspiracy, Sunny was very outgoing toward all members during her trainee years. She was often seen conversing with, if not all, then most trainee's across the company, even involving herself in conversation with the receptionist and forming friendships with the cleaners.

✸ Sunny's loyalty to Jimin and their friendship was solidified early on in a moment where she threatened to leave the group if BigHit Entertainment kicked Jimin from the group. Other members recognised Sunny's fierce yet loving nature in this tense situation, highlighting this as one of her most respectable traits and moments.

     ✸ Sunny and Jimin go live very often. They share pre-debut stories, childhood anecdotes and heartfelt speeches to inspire fans. In these lives, ARMY's discover more about the two members, building a strong connection between the artists and listeners. For example, Sunny goes in depth on her vast, collective music taste and her interest towards the electropop / synth-pop genre, which is a style featured in her 2016 solo album, NEW WAVE.

    ✸ Sunny used to stay up late at night cleaning the dorms from top to bottom. Sometimes, she'd be there til sunrise getting every speck of dust in sight. It wasn't until Namjoon hid the cleaning utilities and enforced a 'bed-time' on Sunny did her cleaning obsession calm down. It never stopped, though. The boys often joke about Sunny's need for everything to be spic and span, recalling how they would often purposefully leave things around to see how'd she react.

     ✸ Her favourite songs are Loca by KHEA; Mrs Officer by Lil Wayne; Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz; Plug in Baby by Muse; and Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones. ( instagram live, 2021 )

✸ Her favourite artists are Mac Miller, SHINee, Radiohead, Bad Bunny, Pink Floyd, Deftones and Frank Sinatra. She has a wide, collective music taste which she often talks about in interviews. Her music taste varies from rock to pop, soul to jazz — you'll even find Sunny listening to classical compositions whilst baking.

     ✸ She can play the guitar incredibly well. Violin too, and when she was younger, she and her brothers would pretend they were in a band. A moment went viral during one VLive where she played the Stairway to Heaven guitar solo perfectly, as if it was nothing.

✸ Her celebrity crushes are Choi Seunghyung
—TOP—, Tom Hardy, Go Minsi, Lee Sangyi and SZA.
     ↳ She admitted her girlish crush on actor Lee Sangyi on a live, accompanied by Jungkook and Taehyung. The two teased her endlessly, though all three immediately went quiet when they saw Lee Sangyi's comment filter through the chat box.
     ↳ 'I must admit, the pink haired princess is quite beautiful.' — Sunny, quite literally, fainted.

     ✸ If not an idol, Sunny is convinced she would've gone into journalism. She expresses her thought and feelings on world matters often, unapologetically advocating for equal rights and justice worldwide.

    ✸ Sunny was the first member of the band to debut a solo album. In 2016 she released her first solo album titled NEW WAVE, which consisted of eight tracks, equalling to 29 minutes. Two years later in 2018, Sunny released her second solo album titled MIDNIGHT MOURNING. Her second solo album features fifteen sentimental tracks, three of which are Spanish, the rest English.

     ✸ Sunny is the first of her band to be nominated for a Grammy. During the 61st Grammy Awards, Sunny was nominated for Album Of The Year with MIDNIGHT MOURNING. Up against artists like Drake, Cardi B and Post Malone, Sunny unfortunately did not win that year's Album Of The Year. Nonetheless, Sunny expressed her deep gratitude to experience such an event, overwhelmed with the praise received from surrounding artists. In an interview Sunny said, "I'm more happy to have met Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga and Bad Bunny than to have won anything. I'd rather leave with the memory of meeting my idols than leave with a trophy."

     ✸ She and Yoongi are known for being heavy sleepers. The other boys once rearranged the whole dorm without waking the two. They also find the most random places to sleep — countless of photos are taken of the two sleeping beside each other on the floor, sofa, single arm chair, etc.

     ✸ Taehyung goes out of his way to make sure Sunny likes his outfits. Before meeting Sunny, Taehyung had little interest in fashion. Now, however, Taehyung is in tune with his style and thanks Sunny for guiding him into the fashion world. ( interview, 2016 )

     ✸ During the bands early years, Jungkook and Sunny were forced to sit beside one another for every meal as they often found themselves in petty arguments regarding Marvel characters. The two were terrible when coming to apologise verbally, and instead snuck one another chocolate bars whilst the others slept. ( interview, 2019 )

     ✸ Namjoon was convinced that Sunny was some sort of human-like alien upon first meeting. She was, what you'd categorise, a classic 'weird girl.' She was loud, energetic and extremely clumsy — that's coming from Namjoon himself —, yet he found comfort in her weird ways, a certain warmth spreading through his chest whenever Sunny would make a joke so unfunny you could only laugh. ✸ Twitter, now X, often goes through phases where Sunny is #1 trending. One time, a video of her singing Loba by Shakira went viral, and it attracted many new fans to the K-pop world. Many times, videos of her choreography gains a lot of attention, too, highlighting her talent as a choreographer as much as a dancer.

✸ In many of her lives, which are always spontaneous and entertaining, Sunny is found dancing. Many of them take place in the dance studio, where viewers watch her freestyle or plan future dances. One fan-favourite moment is during a live in 2017 where she freestyles to 50 Cent's Ayo Technology, comparing her body movements to that of water and her attention to detail as perfect.

    ✸ Sunny plays the role of Yoongi's girlfriend in the HYYH trilogy. She is seen as a symbol of hope throughout the trilogy, a source of light which guides Jin through the troubles of saving his friends. Her character is seen in most scenes, either directly in sight or in little easter eggs left for fans to find. By appearing in nearly every scene, she is symbolised as a beacon of light followed by the boys, a guiding force with leads them to safety. It is when her character is not in any scenes do we see tragedy take place, highlighting the importance of her role. Her character, Jiwon, is a quiet student who caught Yoongi's attention at first sight — their trope is one of simple love at first sight. She becomes a vital cord in the friend group, a string which pulls them back together in all scenarios, yet it's when her character drowns does it all fall apart. Their intense on-screen chemistry fuelled Yoosun (Yoongi + Sunny) shippers, adding to the million of fan theories made across all platforms on the relationships both on and off screen.

✸ In one tweet in 2023, on a secret account, Sunny confesses to having a minor crush on singer Billie Eilish. Days later on Instagram live, when free-styling a lyrical piece to 'wish you were gay,' Billie enters the live video and shares her own love for Sunny and her artistry. ARMY often use Sunny's reaction as meme, noticing her flushed, shocked face and wide eyes, showcasing her mix of embarrassment and happiness.

     ✸ Sunny was exposed mid-2016 when fans found her secret Tumblr account which she had being posting on since early 2011. The account featured videos and photos of pre-debut Sunny, Taehyung, Jimin and Hoseok dancing, singing and pranking one another. Some photos were taken in school lessons which she attended with Taehyung and Jimin, and others are of Hoseok and Sunny as babies. One of the most popular videos consists of Hoseok and Sunny dancing messily in the dorm to BigBang's FANTASTIC BABY, laughing and singing as Jimin and Yoongi lay on the sofa in the back. Half way through the video, midst the dancing, singing and laughter from the back, in comes a very tired Jin, followed by a pouting Jungkook. Jin, obviously been woken up by sleepy Jungkook, begins scolding the four manically. Hoseok is unable to contain is laughter, and neither can Jimin, as the two begin clutching on to one another through their giggles. Yoongi is seen glaring at Jungkook, who's now backing away into his room, whereas Sunny is still dancing. The video ends abruptly as Jin grabs hold of the camera, and as he lifts it in the air, the final image captures Hoseok and Jimin rolling on the floor, as Sunny grabs hold of a moody Yoongi, dancing slowly with warm smiles, and Jungkook huffs with his arms crossed. G-Dragon himself has acknowledged the video when asked about it in an interview, expressing his love for the upcoming band and specifically the, "real life fairy," who's energy is, "inspiring."

✸ Partially confirmed rumour that she and RM wrote Fake Love together days after Sunny left a toxic relationship. ( instagram live, 2022 )

✸ Together, she and Yoongi wrote Pied Piper in one night. According the Yoongi, they were alone in his room, scrolling through tweets of ARMY's expressing their disregard for schoolwork and obsession with the band. Finding both humour and concern in the situation, Pied Piper was written for the struggling students, the lyrics noted down on a ripped piece of paper which is actually framed in Yoongi's studio.

     ✸ Fan theories went wild in 2019 when Sunny released her single, 'Agora Hills.' Tumblr pages, Reddit threads, even websites were formed to come up with a plausible theory of who Sunny's man could be. The lyrics, as sweet as they are sexual, link to none other than Kim Namjoon. To support the theories, ARMY's use these examples:

LYRIC: "I'm a mean kitty, don't get stabbed with the rat tooth,"
EXPLANATION: During a live in 2018, Jin, Sunny and Namjoon are playing, 'What's In The Box?' Jin had managed to sneak a fat rat tooth into Sunny's box, which caused an uproar from the younger girl. Sunny jokingly threatens to stab Namjoon with the rat tooth she was forced to hold. In response, Namjoon compares her to a, "mean kitty cat," laughing as he says, "she's so cute, just like a cat, but so, so mean."

LYRIC: "Let me lick on your tattoos,"
EXPLANATION: During a home-made behind the scene video featured on Sunny's personal youtube channel, the band are messing around with fake tattoos. Sunny has previously expressed her love for tattoos on both herself and others, finding them attractive. As we see Hoseok stick a large tattoo on Namjoon's upper arm, Sunny whispers to the camera, "I just wanna lick it." ARMY's went crazy, though not many took it seriously as Sunny has displayed her teasing, flirty nature with other members such as Jimin and Taehyung before. Now, however, other's think differently...

LYRIC: "Who that man with the big strong hands on her ass in the club with the paps? Baby, that's you,"
EXPLANATION: This is the lyric which ARMY's believe confirm their theories most. In 2017, on the second leg of their WINGS Tour, the day after their show in Los Angeles, California (20th of August), many believe that both fans and Paparazzi caught Sunny and Namjoon in exclusive club 1 OAK LA. Though the faces aren't entirely visible, by matching outfits with prior days and doing some investigative work, ARMY's believe that the picture featured below is of the South-Korean singers.

      Before articles were released, Sunnny posted this Instagram story, which was deleted only minutes after the release of the photo:

LYRIC: "Like Fortnite, Imma need your skin,"
EXPLANATION: The final piece of 'evidence' is far stretched, yet valuable nonetheless. Only months prior to the release of Agora Hills, Sunny was streaming on her Twitch, accompanied by Namjoon himself. The two were playing Fortnite, a usual occurrence for the two. A clipped scene features Sunny saying, "I want your skin," which provokes a reaction from Namjoon. Clearly flustered, Namjoon shakes his head with wide eyes. "What's that supposed to mean?" He had asked, and in response, Sunny laughed loudly. "Your Fortnite skin, silly!"
