Jacquelyn stood at the edge of the sidewalk, screwing around on her phone whole she waited for the bus. She had been roughly thirty minutes too early but that was alright because she didn't really want to have to deal with the new kid without a solid half hour of mental preparation.

"HI!" Right on cue.

Jacquelyn raised her gaze from her phone to look at the kid in front of her. "Hi."

"What's your name?"

"Jack," She answered. The kid's gaze flickered from Jacquelyn's long brown hair down to her feet and up again, prompting her to clarify."It's short for Jacquelyn, I just prefer Jack cause its easier."

"Nifty, my name is Neither." Neither? As in like, nothing?
Jacquelyn stuffed her phone into her pocket and gave the kid one good once over. They looked strange, not in a bad or abnormal way. She just couldn't tell if they were a boy or a girl.
Neither, which apparently really was their name, was sort of short and chubby, with long curls and a colorful, jingly belt wrapped around their waist along with a well loved unicorn backpack.
They looked like a teenager that was still stuck in fourth grade.

Jacquelyn scrunched her nose, trying very hard not to make a face at the new kid's sense of style. Mostly she just pitied them. Caledon High is gonna eat this poor kid whole.

"You seem, uh, eccentric?" She mumbled, not totally enthused about starting a conversation.
