Chapter 8
Dipper's POV:
Ever since Bill and I went to the forest to see the super natural creatures again, I've been "forgetting" to take my medicine every day.
I really wanted to meet new creatures and see the real Gravity Falls, and the only way to do that is to not take my medicine.
Since it's been a while since I've last taken a pill, the creatures seem to be more visible like Bill. And it makes me really happy to see them again.
But, not taking my medicine has also caused some problems. My medicine is supposed to help me not be so paranoid any more, and it also some how prevented me from getting nightmares.
And, by now, you can probably guess who's been getting nightmares every now and then: this guy. Some aren't that bad, but some have woken me up in a pool of sweat. Like last night for example.
===============================
late June~
6:00 AM~
It was a calm and peaceful night. No creature made a single sound and all was quiet.
Mabel was sleeping soundly on her bed, Bill was in the center of the attic, levitating up in the air as he slept, and I, well, I was having a nightmare.
Most of my nightmares used to be about me being attacked by creatures from Gravity Falls or Bill taking over my body again, but not this time. This time was different.
Instead of fearing monsters or demons, I feared myself. My family believed that I had gone completely insane and decided that I needed EXTREME mental help. They had sent me off to a mental asylum where I was locked away, alone.
Is this my fate? To have everyone believe that I've gone mad?!
Every chance I got. I would punch the wall and yell at myself, "No, I'm not crazy. NO! I'm not crazy. NO! I'M NOT CRAZY!"
And that was when I realized that I was awake and I had said that last part aloud.
I panicked that I woke Mabel up, but she was still asleep. I sighed and when I turned around, a familiar face was right in front of me.
"Pine Tree are you ok?!"
"AH!" I screamed, startled from him popping up out of no where.
I closed my eyes, took a deep breath in, let it out, and opened them again. Bill was still in front of me, levitating and upside down, looking at me with a worried look on his face.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I answered. "Just a bad dream."
"Alright Pine Tree." Bill said with a smile, "Good night!"
He was about to go back to where he was sleeping, when I stopped him, "Wait! Bill?"
"Yeah?" he asked, turning around to face me.
"I don't think I can go back to sleep now. Could you... stay up with me?" I asked nervously.
"Sure!" he answered with a smile.
"Really?" I said, smiling back at him.
"Of course Pine Tree! So what do you want to do?"
As I thought about it my stomach started rumbling. I blushed of embarrassment and chuckled, "I guess I'm hungry. Let's go have breakfast."
"Ok!"
I got out of bed, Bill set himself down on the floor, and we headed downstairs.
"So what should we eat?" I asked Bill.
"Can we have those fluffy things that your family always has?"
"You mean pancakes?"
"Yeah!"
"Alright Bill. Pancakes coming right up!"
I took out the pancake mix and all the other ingredients I needed to make them.
It wasn't too hard to make them since I had taken cooking classes in high school. We were able to have electives, and since I mostly wanted to work alone, I chose cooking. Plus it's a helpful thing to know.
When finishing the batter I looked over to Bill who was at the kitchen table, "Do you want chocolate chips in them?"
Bill's face then lit up, "You can have chocolate chips in them?!?!"
I chuckled at Bill's excited face, "Of course silly, you can put almost anything in pancakes."
And with that he started chanting, "CHOCOLATE CHIPS! CHOCOLATE CHIPS!"
I laughed at him and turned around to get them, "Chocolate chips it is!"
After finishing making the pancakes, I placed three pancakes each on two plates. I set them down on the table, "Do you want butter or syrup?" I asked.
"Butter. Obviously." he said with a straight face.
I laughed and went to get the butter, "Ok, ok."
As I opened the fridge, I saw Bill get up, open a drawer, and grabbed a knife.
Uh oh.
I quickly slammed the fridge shut and ran after Bill, "WAIT BILL! Let go of that!" I yelled.
Bill looked at me in confusion, "It's fine Pine Tree. Do you not trust me with a knife?"
I attempted to grab the knife from him, but he dodged me, and I sighed, "No, Bill, it's not like that. I trust you with it, it's just that if someone comes here and sees a floating knife, they'll freak out!"
Bill rolled his eye, "Pine Tree, it's ok! No one else is awake besides us!"
I tried getting the knife from him but he kept on dodging me, "Just give it to me Bill!"
"No! You could get hurt!" Bill yelled at me.
I then stopped trying to get the knife, "Wait.. you're afraid I'M gonna get hurt with the knife?!"
Bill stared at me and started to blush, "Uh, no Pine Tree. It's just that, it's just really sharp and I don't want you-".
But then he was stopped right there when we heard a familiar voice near by, "Who's making all that noise in the kitchen?"
Oh geez, it's FORD!
I noticed that Bill was caught off guard, so I snatched knife away from him and hid my hand behind my back.
Ford then walked in, stretching and yawned, "Dipper? What are you doing up so early?"
"Oh uh, I woke up from a bad dream and I couldn't go to back to sleep." I chuckled nervously.
"And what's with the pancakes?" he asked.
"Oh! I got hungry, you know?" I answered as I swayed from side to side to seem casual.
"Two plates?"
I laughed nervously, "I'm really hungry."
"Alright..." he said suspiciously and then noticed my hands behind my back, "Hey, what's behind your back?"
I lifted my hand that didn't have the knife, "N- nothing Grunkle Ford!"
"Dipper, you're stuttering." Ford said firmly, "What are you hiding?"
I panicked and shrugged with both my arms out, "Nothing!"
Bill was then facepalmed at my mistake.
Whoops.
Ford looked around and then looked at me, "DIPPER! What are you doing with a knife?!"
"Uhhh,"
Play dumb!
"What knife?" I asked nervously.
Not THAT dumb!
Ford then sighed and walked up to me, "Dipper, I know you're going through a lot right now, but harming yourself isn't the solution!"
"Wow." Bill said, "He TOTALLY has the wrong idea."
I nodded my head at him and mouthed, "for sure."
"Dipper look at me!" Ford yelled as he placed his arm on my shoulder.
He startled me and I flinched a bit.
Ford sighed, "Dipper, I know you're a smart boy, and I KNOW that you would never do this to yourself. So just give me the knife, and we can forget all about this."
I rolled me eyes and handed the knife over to Ford.
"See, that wasn't so hard my boy! Now go on and eat your pancakes."
I was really mad at Ford for assuming I would do such a thing, but I tried to stay calm, "We- I mean, I'M just gonna eat upstairs Ford."
I sighed and grabbed both plates and two forks, when Mabel suddenly came into the kitchen.
"Oh Dipper! There you are!" she said while rubbing her eyes, "I was wondering where you wen-"
I ignored her, and me and Bill continued going up to the attic.
I shut the door and placed both plates on the bed, "Alright, FINALLY, we can eat."
We both sat down and ate in silence.
Well, we ate in silence for one full minute.
"So, Pine Tree?"
Oh, here we go.
"What happened in your dream that caused you to wake up?"
I sighed and placed down my pancake. I trusted Bill now, so I told him the whole thing.
"Wow Pine Tree, that's rough."
I nodded and continued eating my pancakes.
"But don't ever think that insanity will take over you. You're not crazy, you're Dipper Pines."
I then looked up at him from saying my real name.
I smiled and gave him a hug, "Thanks Bill."
"Any time, Pine Tree."

Mabel's POV:
"Oh Dipper! There you are!" I said while rubbing my eyes, "I was wondering where you wen-"
But he brushed right past me.
"Dipper?" I ask.
I then heard the attic door get slammed.
I looked at Ford who was putting a knife away in a drawer.
"What was all that about Grunkle Ford?" I asked.
He sighed and sat down at the kitchen table, "Mabel sit down with me. We need to talk about Dipper."
"Ok..." I replied nervously while sitting down next to him.
Ford let out a heavy sigh, "I think I just caught your brother trying to physically harm himself."
"WHAT?! NO! Dipper would never do that! He's smart enough to know not to!" I yelled at him.
"Sweetie please calm down, but I know what I saw. I walked in and Dipper was hiding a knife behind his back."
"NO! He must've just been cutting something! Or was washing the dishes!" I said as tears started falling down my face.
"Mabel, I looked around and saw nothing that Dipper could've been cutting or anything that required the use of a knife. Besides, why would he be hiding it?"
"HE, HE-" I tried to think of something, but I couldn't. I covered my face and started to sob.
"It also seemed like he was talking to someone as if they were right beside him."
"But- but, he was doing so well! He hasn't acted like this for FIVE YEARS! Why now?!"
"I'm sorry Mabel, but I think your brother is only getting worse by being here."
"NO! I'm sure Dipper is fine! He's- he's just still nervous that's all!"
"Mabel-"
"NO! YOU'RE WRONG! DIPPER IS FINE!"
I got up from my seat and ran out of the the Mystery Shack. I ran into the forest, and I ran until I couldn't run anymore.
I sat down and leaned against a tree to catch my breath, but I still couldn't stop crying.
I had to face the truth, Dipper's not fine.
