Ch 6. Engine
Taehyung found himself still, even if he followed Jeongguk's gaze to his foot he still couldn't help forgetting he had even hurt it when he noticed the boxer walking in. A small smile growing on his lips.
"Hi.. I didn't expect you would come today" Taehyung tells, eyes wide and imploring.
He knows Jeongguk is like poison. Knows that his words and actions are anything than the soft music or the nice smiles. Knows that his hands have always only bern good for burning people. But even so, he finds himself also knowing that he likes the way he never seemed to miss practice.
Jeongguk was dedicated in boxing just like he was in ballet. And that made him smile.
Jeongguk drops his gaze from the floor and suddenly he meets his own. between a disbelieving huff and a hollow look "I didn't think ballerinas are supposed to hurt their feet"
It's a full two seconds till Jeongguk breaks his punishing gaze and starts to head towards the ring. Walking past a very flushed Taehyung.
He knew Jeongguk was mocking him over the way he had bashed him for hurting his hands while doing boxing.
Taehyung slowly motions his head from left and turned. Finding the dark haired once again seated on the edge of the ring. He noticed he must have been in a bad mood, by the way his hard lines grow fringed behind his hair and his eyebrows pierced further together.
"Well- uhm I will be heading home now so I can't stay-"
"Did I ask you to?"
It's obvious just how perplexed Jeongguk is by the way there isn't even room for any other emotion than drain in his voice. and his voice becomes as sharp as the strain in Taehyung's heart.
"No.." Taehyung's normally beamed voice sound too sunked. His hand fiddling with the outline of the strap of his gym bag. "Good luck on your practice Jeongguk"
Taehyung stammers awkwardly, not knowing what to say when he's cheeks only grows redder. He smiled slightly before heading out of the studio.
He hardly remembers how to be bold and loud with his words when he's around Jeongguk. Sometimes it takes a poll on him and he feels small, almost to the point he wants to disappear from his dark eyes and sharp tone.
To the point he forgets his foot hurts. Stings with every halting step he takes out of the studio.
Jeongguk doesn't say anything when he leaves, just tears his gaze away from his newly taped hands and to the ballerinas halted steps until he had left.
Jeongguk's shoulders stiffen, his head raising up in a familiar defiant as he simultaneously clenches his jaw, clicked his tongue. his body growing rigid in the room. There's a shift in the air, in Jeongguk, in the blonde's previous halting steps and he runs his hands through his hair.
"For fuck sake.." Jeongguk curses under his breath, before he's putting on his jacket again.
And he doesn't know what the fuck he's doing when he leaves the studio after Taehyung. Driven by this overwhelming urge to stop himself but then he's there. Reaches outside the hallway just in time that he sees the blonde outside.
Taehyung turns around abruptly, when he hears the door shutting after him. The cold breeze hitting his skin and then there's Jeongguk. Behind him, and he slightly gapes his lips.
Thinking maybe he had decided to skip practice after all. And he's about to ask him but the boxer beats him to it.
"What kind of idiot walks home like that"
Jeongguk says, hands returning to his pockets and Taehyung follows his gaze. Where they laid on his shoes. Or; more like his hurt foot and he realizes for a moment, oh. That it still is hurt.
He slightly fiddles his teeth on his under lip, a habit when he doesn't find himself knowing what to say - before gazing back up at Jeongguk. Finding him already staring at him.
"Whatever, I'm taking you home" Jeongguk only says just after, before turning to walk towards the parking lot.
Taehyung can't even recall properly as he follows behind him "W-what?"he stammers, struggling to keep up with the other as his foot stinged with every step.
"It wasn't a question" He cuts, the blonde not noticing the way Jeongguk had slightly slowed down his steps.
Taehyung suddenly found it easier to keep up with him.
"But I-" Before Taehyung was able to say anything more he stops, along with his strode when the dark haired had abruptly stopped, before a motorbike.
Taehyung stands there staring at Jeongguk's motorbike like it might leave any second. To the point Jeongguk had already got on it, while he was observing the engine.
"What, scared?"
"I'm not.." Taehyung mumbled after a moment. Swallowing down thickly as He took the helmet Jungkook handed him. His heart hammered in his chest.
The roar of the engine filled the silent parking lot. Taehyung put on the helmet hesitantly, before he slowly approached the bike. Letting his body get on behind Jeongguk.
Not realizing how hard his heart was beating, and cheeks flushing deeper when his restrained fists had gathered themselves to slowly grip into the back of the boxer's jacket.
The sturdy material of the leather under his fingertips was warm and strong.
Jeongguk's eyes fall back on Taehyung momentarily as he continues to not understand how the fuck he ended up here in the first place.
And then he hits the acceleration, Taehyung's giggle had corrupted his strained fear as he gripped tighter against Jeongguk's jacket. Red cheeks and soft smile.
And the dark haired for a moment, he finds himself forgetting he was just a minute before in a bad mood.
