Ch 10. Let them
Jimini:
Tae i'm sorry, I took some time. Where are you?
Taehyung:
I'm with Jeongguk, he's taking me home. Are you coming??
Jimini:
That's good
um
I need to stay behind a bit, so you can leave before me. I will talk to you tmrw okay?
"Oh.."
Taehyung eyes shuffle groggily over his phone. Stares to long. Taehyung doesn't understand Jimin sometimes.
The brunette is a boy that's jarring - A presence he's spent the last ten years of glimmered light in his eyes that has long lost its terror of colors in his own. And he brings him through his bondlen body. Because Jimin is someone who laughs with his teeth - a boy who hates his chocolate milk to chocalately - who loves the way leaves turn cranked under his feet during ballet and-
Taehyung gets terrified. In moments like these, he gets terrified that the one he knows the best, isn't there anymore.
That maybe, now - he likes it when there's to much chocolate in his milk.
Taehyung just stares at the screen for a long moment, lips pursed. Gears turning in his head. He only turns away when Jeongguk walks back into the room. "Are you done?" he questions.
And Taehyung looks up at him.
Drowsiness paints his eyes in a light
shade of distortion, and he can't make out any of Jeongguk's emotions in the locker room.
Taehyung only nods, And Jeongguk doesn't say another word after that.
He only stares at him, for a moment to long to the point Taehyung had to retreat his uncanny gaze. "Come on" The boxer tells before he walks past him.
The blonde instantly widens his eyes from his snap to realization that they are leaving now, and hurriedly sprints after the dark haired.
But as soon as they leave the stranded locker room, and out in the main venue again he doesn't have time to react when Jeongguk latches his grip around his wrist when the crowd comes into view again.
Now he's the one being dragged close behind the dark haired.
Taehyung chews into his lips, looks down at Jeongguk's hand that's wrapped around his wrist. Heart beats loudly, cheeks grows warm.
He can't help but think, that right now. He's supposed to be in his room, tuning into the hums of the soft music playing in the background of his moms smell of cooking. Lay in the middle of the floor and stretch his limbs - maybe even prepare himself more for his competition coming up-
But instead he's here.
In a crazed neighborhood, no quiet air and all he can scan through bodies are bruises and strained chatters. Maybe there was someone in an argument in the corner, or an ambulance in the other. And he swears he sees drugs and money smuggled around but even so -
Why does he feel so safe in Jeongguk's grip.
"Don't come here again" Jeongguk draws out as soon as they are outside. And his motorbike comes into view. Wrist still pulled with him.
Taehyung frowns his brows "I wasn't planning to anyway.."
He mumbles when they stop. In front of the engine and the pit of his stomach turn when Jeongguk returns his gaze to him. Stands right before him.
Because the way Jeongguk looks at him always makes him feel like he's done something wrong. That he's done something that makes his every move a bother to the boxer.
Jeongguk hands him a helmet instead for an answer, and he takes it with no hesitation.
But when his hands move to put on his helmet over his head, he stops when he felt Jeongguk hold his wrist between his fingers again.
And then - the boxer's hand is suddenly knitted between his blonde locks, that were messed up from earlier in the venue.
"What kind of idiot manage to get his hair so messed up"
Jeongguk lowers out and the ballerina can't answer. Feels himself shrivelling up under Jeongguk's fingers that are slowly fixing his blonde locks in place, the touch of his fingers leaving him strangled of words.
Even when under Jeongguk's oppressive gaze, that returns to him.
And Taehyung can't make up anything. Because Jeongguk's facial expression is so controlled.
To the point Taehyung feels like a burning mess of emotions under him and he can't think.
But as a switch, Jeongguk expression shifts after seconds and his gaze does as well before he backs away. Returns towards his bike and the blonde is left to meddle on himself behind him.
Taehyung moves slow, less hesitant but still he feels just as nervous when he let's his hands slowly grab a hold of the back of jeongguk's jacket.
Leather so familiar and unfamiliar against his fingers when he hops on behind his body.
And he tries to calm his beating heart when he's so close up to the dark haired, because he's afraid he will hear it. Even afraid that his is the only one that is beating so loud just from before.
Jeongguk hits the acceleration then and Taehyung's heart had disappeared behind the large horns. And he smiles, squints his eyes shut when the excitement build in his stomach as soon as they drove off.
Tries to blink his eyes open, the wind hitting his face and his vision, but then he blinks further. When the road comes into the view. But there is a dog sprawled on top of the concrete road.
There is a dog.
Sprawled on top of the concrete road.
"Wait! Jeongguk stop! there's a dog!"
Taehyung shouts in panic. And the engine stops abruptly.
And Taehyung hops out in a second, runs out to the side of the road where the small dog had ran off to and stayed.
Jeongguk watched him, when he crouched down beside the ball off orange fluff, hesitant hands slowly trades behind his head and he's petting it slowly. Small talking to a ball of hair.
"You shouldn't be out on the road, it's dangerous"
Taehyung whispers so quietly for almost only the dogs ears to hear. To the point Jeongguk starts to believe he thinks the animal can hear him.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me.." Jeongguk mutters. The boy sits up and turns to face Jeongguk when he strides frustrated towards him. Towards them.
And Taehyung bursts out into a smile.
"Come here and sit! he's so cute"
Taehyung grins when he pats a seat beside him on the side road. With his teeth showing behind his gums, and he smiles through a series of lights in a form of a box-grin.
Taehyung had never looked as happy.
And it's more ridiculous that Jeongguk does sit down. Only that he seemed to keep his distance from the dog, taehyung notices this. A gasp almost leaving his round lips.
"Is Jeon Jeongguk scared of dogs?" Taehyung almost bursts out laughing.
"I'm not scared of a shit dog" the boxer mutters.
Laughters sound is a gradient echoed sound, fading behind engines, and rustles of bushes and the dogs flaming tounge. And it comes in the form of Taehyung, with his hurting stomach and box-smile.
"You are really scared of dogs!"
And Jeongguk watches him, normally he would probably beat Taehyung for
getting on his nerves. But he doesn't.
"I don't like them. There's a difference" Jungkook wrinkles his forehead. Clearly not amused, but Taehyung find it so amusing.
Taehyung sits up then, gathers the orange dog in his hands and propps his knees on the ground. Jeongguk turns to face the ballerina, who's leaning
uncomfortably close towards him with the dog in his hands. Lips still curled upwards.
"What are you doing?"
Taehyung moves the dog closer to Jeongguk. But still keeps the distance short. The boxer creases his brows.
"Don't"
"You know, I think dogs are like humans. When they sense fear they will back away too. But-"
Taehyung stops, looks down at his hands straddled around the comfort of the fur against his skin. And he senses Jeongguk's unwavering gaze on him, features shifting in the radiance of words before he returns it to the dark haired.
"If you let the them in, they will start to like you too"
----
The engine stops with the sky that had slowly retreated the unwavering light. And Taehyung's already fully on
his heels and hops out of the engine. About to let himself back up the steps of his house's front porch. Where the lights are closed and curtains drawn.
But he stops instead. In front of Jeongguk's motorbike. In front of Jeongguk.
"Do you- want to come inside?"
The question works like a friendly question in the gut but still Taehyung cheeks grow warm. Promptly stares sat the grass underneath his fidgeting fingers. Of course he doesn't expect Jeongguk to say yes, he doesn't expect anytging from Jeongguk. Not even from the beginning
It stays quiet for way to long. To the point Taehyung's fingers grow anxious a long with his teared face and he looks up, meet's Jeongguk's dark eyes.
"Do you always trust people alone with you?"
Jeongguk says it in a way that seems challenging. But Taehyung can hear the underlying bite of venemous bitter in his words and a certain shame makes Taehyung's cheeks burn hot.
Holds out his gaze and stares at Jeongguk. At the way his features seemed to have shifted under the dim. Jaw set hard, eyes narrowed on blonde boy and his grip on the handle tightens the slightest.
"No- but I trust you" Taehyung answers carefully, obviously confused by the question.
Meeting Jeongguk's eyes that are still so heavily guarded. The moment is so venomous and Taehyung can't find himself to look away from Jeongguk's dark gaze.
Doesn't know how to make himself disappear any further under them when he never leaves them from his curled up form. "You shouldn't"
Taehyung can hear Jeongguk's voice, but at the same time he can't.
"Get inside, it's getting late"
Without another word, the blonde shifts on his feet. makes his way towards the front, pretends not to think about the conversation when he has his hand on the doorknob.
But he stays on his tiptoes, before he turns back around, looks over at the dim to meet Jeongguk's eye for the last time. Who still hasn't driven off.
And he smiles the lightest towards him.
"Thank you ggukie"
Was the last thing that leaves his bright lips before he turns the knob, disappearing behind the drawn curtains.
He didn't expect anything from Jeongguk, doesn't. But why does he still think about him all the time.
Jeongguk's head turn after they are firmly rooted to the pavement to Taehyung's door. Let's his frustration in his hand run through his dark hair, fists tightening white into the handle.
"What the fuck am I doing"
Jimini:
Tae! Hyun came back to town today.
