6- Chewed Piece of Bubblegum
Jen ' s POV
Never before, in my life, have I experienced such pain. Every noise only made it worse and I had to go to school today. A freaking school! Schools are, like, the most loudest place possible. Especially in gym.
I love gym more than any class in the world. It was the perfect time to socialize with friends and just play around. Everyday, we had the same warm up that took around fifteen minutes, and if we finished early enough, after we got a drink, we were allowed to talk to others and wait. After that, we basically did whatever one sport we were told to do.
I play soccer for the girls soccer team, but, sadly, the season hasn't begun so I'm just bored out of my mind. I also had a few great friends on the soccer team bur once the season ended, we all went back to our old lives. But there was always those times when we would bump into eachother and talk.
Like I was saying, gym was horrible. The sound of sneakers pressing against the floor, girls chattering away, boys laughing and shoving eachother, and the teacher's whistle. Every five seconds, she would blow it telling people to 'pick up the pace' or that they were 'doing great'. And every time the whistle blew, the pounding in my head got worse.
Ms.Andrews, the gym teacher, seemed to notice and walked over to me. Her slightly chapped lips fell into a small smile as her concerned eyes scanned my face.
"Are you okay, Benson?" She used my last name and placed a hand on my shoulder. I nodded while catching my breath.
"Just a small headache, nothing much." She nodded but didn't seem to quite believe me.
"Okay, but if it gets worse, just head down to the nurse's office, alright?" I smiled, me tally putting that in the back of my mind, just in case.
"Alright," She then walked back to where she was standing before and I continued to run. Since it was raining, we were having indoor gym. Which was good, I guess, I just enjoy the outdoors more. There was something about the fresh air that always got me.
"Jen," a voice sang beside me and and I looked to the side. Venny ran at my pace with a huff. "Why do you run so fast?" I chuckled.
"Some people just run faster than others." I continued to look forward as I powered through the strain in my lungs.
"You know," Venny said, "I can't wait until lunch. I didn't get breakfast this morning so I'm starving." By the mischievous smirk on her face, I knew exactly what she was trying to do. She was trying to make me ditch class again but that wasn't going to happen. I only did it once and we didn't get caught. Well, not until I fess up and got both of us in trouble. The guilt was literally eating me alive and I couldn't take it.
"Poor you." I teased as I sped up my pace to get away from her. She growled but couldn't seem to keep up.
Lunch came and I can say that I hated it. Every single kid seemed to be yelling and my head was pounding.
"Ugh," I groaned while pressing my head against the table. "My head feels like a chewed piece of bubblegum." Sam giggled along with Kendall while Venny simply smirked. Kendall pulled a bit on my hair.
"Oh, come on, it's not that bad." I removed my forehead from the table and glared at her.
"Ken, it's like having surgery on your brain and being awake the whole time. It's brutal and hardcore." She laughed at my choice of words.
"Totally 'hardcore'." She laughed and I rolled my eyes playfully.
"I wish I was never born with a head." I heard a chuckle beside me and another laugh.
"Yeah, so we all wouldn't have to see the ugliness." I glared at Jonathan, Christopher ' s friend.
"You better watch what you say," Kendall spoke before I could, "She gets really bad when she has headaches." Venny nodded looked up from her sketchbook with a deadly stare.
"Really bad." Jonathan chuckled.
"Oh, like I'm scared of the teen queen." He rolled his eyes and I lunged at him. Christopher, knowing me all too well, held me back by my waist and I pouted.
"I'm gonna murder him," I mumbled and Christopher laughed.
"No, you're not," I huffed.
"I'm know, I just really really really really wanna."
As lunch continued, Jonathan continued to tease me, Christopher laughed along, Kendall kept sticking up for me and telling them to quiet their voices, and Venny simply glared Sam.
Oh, and did I mention how much I love the cafeteria food.
----
I love foreshadowing. Can you guess where I did it?
