1- I'm Not Quirky
Sam's POV
I looked in the mirror one last time checking my hair, clothes, and makeup. It was the first day of school and this might determine how people act around me. This year, I actually wanted to be known as somebody and actually remembered.
Being a military kid, I move around a lot and that means I go to different schools every year. It was hard to make your mark when you're only there for one year and then shipped off for another.
I smiled to myself. This is going to be a great day! Oh, who am I kidding, this I'd going to be horrible. I'm probably just going to embarrass myself. Don't worry, just be you. I took in a deep breath before I left my room. Deep breaths, I thought, everything will be alright if you just breath.
"Good morning," my mom said as she saw me. She engulfed me in a hug. "You look lovely, are you nervous?" She pulled away to look me in the eyes. I scoffed sarcastically.
"Pff, me? Nervous? Of course no- mom, they're going to hate me! I mean, they're going to shun me or something..." I rambled on, making sure there was not a thing left on my chest. After I was finished, my mom sat me down and shoved a plate of breakfast in front of me.
"Don't worry, they'll love you." I rolled my eyes and grabbed my fork.
"That's what all parents say."
I closed my eyes and took in yet another deep breath. This is it, the moment that determines your life forever. I entered the school campus. The school was small, unlike all my other schools, but very old. I walked through the large doors revealing everyone at once. Many people were talking to eachother, girls were giggling and hugging eachother, teachers were talking to students, some even scolding them. I smiled as I passed a bunch of people.
I could feel the eyes creeping over to me and latching on to me. I gulped down the nervousness and continued to walk. Suddenly, in the distance, I heard someone say my name. Well, more like, yelled it.
"Samantha Wirly!" A girl shouted again. "Has anyone seen Samantha Wirl-" her eyes met mine and she dashed over to me. "You must be Samantha Wirly." I nodded.
"Yep, that's me." She smiled.
"Well, I'm Kendall and I'll be showing you around." It wasn't until now that I got a good look at her. She had long wavy black hair that was left down, bright blue eyes, and she was beautiful. I suddenly felt insecurity fill my mind.
"Wow," I mumbled playing with the loops of backpack. She looked back at me.
"What? Oh, and I have the same schedule as you so you can just follow me around all day."
And that's how it went. I didn't really meet anyone else, she introduced me to a few people but no one really. I met most of the teachers, they seemed pretty nice. It wasn't until lunchtime, till I met her friends.
We walked through the cafeteria to a table where a red headed girl was sitting with a sketchbook. The girl didn't even look up before she spoke.
"Jen is in the bathroom." Kendall shot the redheaded girl a glare knowing she couldn't see it. She cleared her throat. The redheaded girl looked up.
"Oh, hello, I'm Ventrice but you can call me Venny." Then she went back to sketching. Kendall and I sat down and she smiled at me.
"Don't worry about Venny, she's just quirky." Venny let out an irritated sigh but continued to sketch.
"I'm not quirky, I'm just an average girl who likes to draw. If anything"- she squinted through her thick rimmed glasses-"you're the quirky one." Kendall gasped.
"I am not quirky, take that back!" Venny remained silent which caused Kendall to smirk. She quickly took Venny ' s sketchbook from under her and positioned her plate right over the drawing. Venny gasped and glared at Kendall.
"Kendall," She gorwled. "Give. It. Back." Kendall ' s smirk only widened.
"Only if you take it back!"
"Never."
"Okay, well, I hope you like speghetti all over your ske-"
"What's going on here?" A blonde girl asked while sitting at the table. She had medium length pale blonde hair, greenish brownish eyes, and a white smile that could blind anyone.
"Venny said I was quirky." Kendall stated while throwing in a glare at Venny. The blonde raised an eyebrow and unpacked her lunch.
"Well, you are and there's nothing wrong with that." Kendall immediately pouted.
"But that's mean!" Venny scoffed and snatched her sketchbook back.
"You called me it first!" Kendall giggled and smiled.
"I was only kidding. Oh, and this is Jen." Jen waved.
"Nice to meet you...er, what's your name?" I smiled.
"Samantha, but you can call me Sam." We shook hands.
"Great, and"- she turned towards the other two girls-"I'm going to be a little late for the Smoothie Shack, Christopher ' s not feeling well,e that's why he's not her today, so I'm just gonna check in on him." The two girls nodded and Kendall and Jen continued the conversation. I raised end eyebrow.
"Christopher?" Venny nodded.
"Yeah, that's her boyfriend, they just got back together." Back together? Well, why did they break up? I decided that that would be too nosy to ask.
"Cool." I simply said and bit into my sandwich.
"Oh, oh, oh!" Jen pulled on my arm causing my eyes to widen. "Wanna come to the Smoothie Shack with us after school? It's the best place to get smoothies." I shrugged.
"Sure." Oh, what have I gotten myself into?
