"What species are we looking for, exactly?" Reeg asks, holding his blaster with both hands as they subtly force Calista through Coronet City.
Calista laughs to herself. She continues to examine people's behavior as they pass her by. The group of them walk by a Corellian Security officer just as he activates his comlink.
"All units keep an eye out for a young Pantoran girl. She's been reporting stalking around the Peace and Security station at odd hours of the day." He informs the other officers. "We're not sure who she's working with so be aware of any suspicious activity."
Calista smirks to herself as she makes a sharp left down a slim alley. The pirates break into a sprint to follow her, alerting the CorSec officer to some sort of commotion. He quickly reports the individuals to his coworkers before chasing after them. Kix, however, notices that the alleyway is a dead end and looks for another way around–knowing that Calista wouldn't corner herself in a situation like this.
"Calista!" Sidon shouts angrily as the Zeltron gracefully scales the wall at the end of the alley. She turns back to give him a snarky wink before jumping down the other side of the wall.
"Hands up! Don't resist!" The CorSec officer shouts, pointing his blaster at the group of pirates. Before he can get another word out, the hilt of a dagger hits him in the head. His currently-unconscious body falls to the ground as the crew turns to face Reveth, who only shrugs in response.
The group then turns to face Sidon, who's clearly infuriated despite his mask covering his face. "Find her."
Reveth and Quiggold take off in one direction as Reeg and Squeaky head in another. Sidon looks through the crowd for any sign of the clone trooper and huffs as he sets out in search of Calista.
With the CorSec now on high-alert, Calista does her best to calm her breathing–and the searing pain in her back–as she walks the streets of Corellia. Her eyes land on the Peace and Security building and her lips curve into a smirk.
As she approaches the side of the structure, a hand wraps around her wrist to pull her away from the building and into yet another alley. She quickly assumes a defensive position, but relaxes when her eyes meet Kix's.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Kix asks, glancing around the corner to find Reeg and Squeaky scouting the area.
"I have everything," she groans as she pushes herself away from the wall, "under control."
Kix gives her a disapproving look and she sighs.
"My target isn't a person." She admits, watching as one of Kix's eyebrows shoot up in curiosity. "It's a relic, and I know it's in there."
Kix sighs as he looks into her desperate eyes. He peeks his head out once more to watch as the Arcona and Gamorrean turn down another street, heading away from the Peace and Security building.
"We have an opening." He states, turning back to Calista. "But I'm not sure how long it'll last."
A shocked expression materializes on Calista's face as she looks up at the man in front of her. "Kix, I'm not asking you to help me." She assures him, not wanting to complicate his life further.
"You don't have to." He replies without a second thought. The medic reaches down to take her hand in his. "I'm with you."
Calista's heart leaps in her chest as she nods. "We'll have to sneak in through one of the emergency window wells. Once we're in, it should be a straight shot to the sub-basement."
"The sub-basement?" Kix asks as he follows her over to the gated window well, suddenly wondering how dangerous this relic is if it's being kept in such a secure location.
Calista must not hear Kix because she wastes no time in trying to pry the gate open, but it doesn't budge. Kix quickly pulls her off of it, worried about her internally bruised spine, and takes a closer look at the metal bars.
"They're corroded." He points. "Let me see your blaster." He holds his hand out expectantly and Calista glances down at her blaster before handing it over.
The feeling of the weapon in Kix's hand causes him to shudder. He takes a deep breath to calm his nerves before aiming the blaster at the weakest part of the gate. "Toss a rock into that garbage pail across the street." He glances over at Calista, who understands the need for a diversion and does as told.
Kix times the blast perfectly, pulling the trigger exactly as the rock bangs against the metal of the garbage pail. As soon as the blast goes off, Kix jumps down into the well and kicks the old window in.
The sound of the metal clanging catches Reeg's attention and he turns back just in time to catch a glimpse of blue hair flowing down into the window well. He quickly activates his comlink to alert the others of Calista's location before he and Squeaky follow her at a distance, still needing to know where the target for the bounty is.
They reach the large sub-basement with no trouble at all, finding Kix and Calista rummaging through crates. "That traitorous clone." Reeg huffs. "Should've known his programming was still faulty."
Squeaky snorts as he follows behind the Arcona. His nose picks up the faint smell of something burning and follows the fading scent to a crate stored up on a shelf. The squat Gamorrean huffs as he repeatedly jumps up to reach the crate. Eventually he knocks the crate off of its shelf using his axe, resulting in a loud clatter that catches everyone's attention. Reeg quickly resorts to scolding his crewmate as Calista points her blaster at the pair from her spot across the large room.
"Reeg." She speaks dryly. "Squeaky."
Squeaky's eye catches a glint among the dirty metal relics and he leans over to pick it up. Calista's eyes widen as they land on the hilt of the lightsaber in Squeaky's hand. As the Gamorrean looks up at Reeg, a blast goes straight through his chest and he falls to the ground.
Reeg grabs the weapon from Squeaky's lifeless grip and faces Calista with nothing but anger and hatred in his eyes. Calista, however, immediately looks around the room for the source of the blast.
"Reeg!" Reveth's voice calls out as her, Quiggold, and Sidon descend the stairs into the sub-basement.
As the Arcona turns to face his crew, another blast sounds as it burns straight between his eyes. All eyes turn to Calista, whose blaster is now lowered. A sinister laugh echoes off of the walls and Calista tenses as she hones in on the lightsaber. It had to be the relic she'd been looking for, it's the only explanation.
"It's funny how things work out, isn't it?" The sinister laughter rolls into the sentence. "Even after I destroyed your ship, you still managed to lead me directly to the relic."
Cal clenches her jaw as she spots Bazine in the shadows across from her.
"This old thing is what all the fuss is about?" Reveth seethes, crouching down to pluck the lightsaber from Reeg's limp body.
"Reveth!" Calista shouts as Bazine advances towards the pirates.
The Twi'lek secures the relic to her belt and grabs her blasters to fire at the incoming assassin. Bazine dodges the blasts with ease and Reveth drops her blaster as she fights the woman in hand-to-hand combat. The pirate unsheathes her dagger as she pins Bazine on her back but Bazine slips out from under her and against the wall as Sidon and Quiggold fire at her. Calista notices that the lightsaber is no longer in Reveth's possession and curses under her breath when the weapon now hanging from Bazine's belt catches her eye.
"Go, get out of here." Calista says to Sidon.
Sidon doesn't react to her plea. Instead, he whispers something to Reveth and she nods. Calista then turns to Kix with the same request, but he refuses to leave without her.
Calista shakes her head in aggravation but times her assault on Bazine just as the assassin attempts to pounce on her. The Zeltron flawlessly flips Bazine over her shoulder and somersaults to land on her feet above the attacker.
"Where's the Pantoran?" Calista asks, worrying about anyone else that may join the fight.
Bazine laughs. "You mean the poor little girl who just wanted a way off of this wretched planet?" She smiles up at Calista. "Don't worry, I took care of her for you. I think the recovery of her body is keeping the CorSec rather occupied, wouldn't you say?"
Using the slight distress passing through Calista's eyes as an invitation, Bazine kicks herself up and unholsters her blaster. Calista reacts quickly, knocking the blaster out of Bazine's hand and kicking it across the floor to land at Kix's feet.
With the two bounty hunters occupied by one another, Reveth sees her opening to grab the relic. Bazine feels the Twi'lek reaching for the lightsaber and kicks Calista to the ground with a foot to her back.
Calista cries out in pain as she lands on the ground and Kix's heart begins to beat in his ears. He watches as Bazine ignites the lightsaber and his eyes widen at the red blade. Bazine slices the Twi'lek's right arm off in one swift motion, causing Reveth to cry out in pain as well. Kix runs to Reveth and manages to cover the burned flesh with a piece of cloth before telling Sidon and Quiggold to get her out of there.
Bazine then turns to face Calista, laughing at her as she struggles to push herself off of the floor. "How the mighty have fallen." Bazine scoffs. "You always were the favorite back home, always the one who got special treatment. But then I guess your abilities helped with that."
Once the three remaining pirates are gone, Kix turns to the pair of bounty hunters–Bazine standing over Calista with the red saber still ignited.
"That place.. Is not.. My home." Calista grunts as she forces herself to her feet. Her eyes meet Kix's for a split second before she focuses on Bazine.
"Such a shame for things to end this way, you were such a good bounty hunter." Bazine stifles a laugh as the saber hums in her hand. "But at least you know how it ends. With me taking the only thing you ever had to call your own."
"That's where you're wrong." Kix speaks up, sending a blast through Bazine's left leg, just a few inches above her knee. Bazine cries out in agony as she falls to the ground. The lightsaber's blade recedes as it falls from her hand and to the floor. "She has me." He finishes his point as he picks up the lightsaber.
Kix puts an arm around Calista to support her as they make their way back to the window they entered from. Bazine clenches her jaw as she musters up enough strength to make a tourniquet of her own in order to prevent herself from bleeding out.
"This isn't the last you'll see of me." Bazine shouts after the pair. "I'll come for you! For both of you!" She threatens.
"You'd have to find us first." Calista mutters under her breath.
