Chapter 9: Rekindling Bonds
Dumon talks things over with Don and the other emperors, they don't mind him going over to see Nash but they warn him to be careful. He promises that he will be and leaves with Embers falling close behind him, he refuses to share any of his power with Dumon unlit he sees how things go with Nash. It take only minutes for Dumon to find his way to Nash's kingdom where he's greeted by Durbe and Merag, not much is said between them as they walk into the palace. Dumon is lead to Nash's room, fear and sorrow settle in him. He can't bring himself to be mad at Nash and gently knocks on his door but no response comes.
"He must be asleep which is rear for him." Merag says, her voice flat.
"I'll stay by his side until he wakes up." Dumon replies softly and gently opens the door going into the room and shutting the door softly beside him.
There laying in bed is Nash, he's passed out from lack of sleep and his skin is a sickly pale white since he's in his human form.
"My how the mighty has fallen~" Embers says from the shadows in a mocking tone with a smirk.
Dumon remains silent and brushes the back of his hand gently against Nash's cheek. Nash leans into the touch unconsciously, a few minutes past but it feels like hours. Eventually Nash wakes up, his ocean blue eyes are pale and lifeless but then turn to shock and fear upon seeing Dumon.
"Hey..." Dumon calls softly.
"I'm so sorry, I never meant to hurt you. I should have been the one who was tortured to near death." Nash says choking on his tear as he turns away from him.
Dumon gently picks Nash up in a hug. It's firm and tight yet gentle, "We're two tortured and broken souls bounded together by fate. We've been to hell and back, and even though our souls may be broken beyond repair. And our bodies racked with scars that will never fade, and pain that can never be undone. We still can't seem to stay away from each other, now can we? We still find away to be with the other, like two sides of the same whole."
Nash and Embers are silent, speechless by Dumon's words. But his words ring true, no matter what has happened to them they still managed to find each other. Still managed to show that they care, Nash slowly turns to face Dumon. With a few tears still falling from his cheek and reaches a hand up to Dumon's cheek, cupping it with care. Dumon lays his hand over Nash's with a small but sad smile.
"No matter what we do, no matter what may happen to us. We're bounded together by fate." He whispers softly.
Embers watches this all from the shadows, he's still mad at Nash for what he did but he can't ignore Dumon's words. He temporarily leaves the shadows to get something very sacred that normally only an angel could give. When he comes back he leaves the safety of the shadows and walks over to Nash's bed side.
"I'm still pissed at you for how you treated him, but I can't ignore his words." Embers glances at his human counterpart for a moment before looking back to Nash. "Take this and stop torturing yourself." He gives Nash a small vial with crystal blue water.
Nash looks at him then to the vail a bit confused.
Embers sighs, "It's Crystal Water, normally only an angel could use it. It will help with what you've done to yourself."
Dumon gives Nash a small encouraging smile, Nash takes the vial and drinks the Crystal Water. He glows with a white light as his physical ailments are cured then the light disappears.
"Thank you." Nash says with life shining back in his eyes
"Just promise me you won't hurt him again, because I'll kill you myself if you do." Embers says flatly, turning away from him.
"I promise, I won't hurt him." Nash says hugging Dumon tightly, happy to have him back.
Dumon actually smiles a real smile for the first time in months, being in Nash's arms again gives him the comfort and love he's been so desperately longing for.
The End.
