Chapter 8: Healing

Embers takes Dumon back to Barain World but makes a quick stop to pick up a demon healing capsule first, using the rest of the gold he has to pay for it. He lays Dumon's batter body gently on a bed in the infirmary causing Dumon to whimper in pain. The clean white sheets are quickly stained to a crimson red.

"I know it hurts, but I promise to relieve the pain real soon." Embers whispers to him softly.

Dumon nods in pain and tries to stay quiet. The other emperors and Don feel a dark presence in the infirmary and goes to see who's there. The heavy smell of blood makes all of them gag even Vector and Don gag at the strong smell. They poke their heads into the infirmary to see Dumon badly hurt and Embers trying to quickly put something together. The site of their friend so badly hurt made them all want to vomit, a small groan of pain escapes Dumon as a wave of pain rips through his body.

"I'm working as fast as I can Dumon." Embers says softly to him.

The others suppress their urge to vomit and come to Embers aid. Alito and Girag take over for Embers on putting the demon healing capsule together, while the rest strip Dumon on his clothes leaving him in his boxers to work on cleaning his wounds.

Dumon screams in unbearable pain, causing his loved ones to flinch and stiffen at his screams but they keep working. Embers works on making the healing liquid that will be needed to go into the capsule later. Two hours later the capsule is completed and Dumon's wounds are all cleaned out. Embers comes back with boiling hot orange liquid and starts up the capsule.

"You're not seriously going to put Dumon in that are you?" Nash asks with worry.

"I am, I know what I'm doing." Embers answers.

"But that stuff is boiling hot, won't it burn him?" Graig asks, the echos of his friend's screams of pain from earlier are still fresh in his mind.

"No, the hotter the healing liquid is the better it will work." Embers says and checks over all of the controls before pouring the healing liquid in.

Everything is good to go and Embers steps out of the room to get something.

"It hurts..." Dumon says weakly.

"I know it does, but you'll be out of pain soon Dumon." Don says softly.

Embers comes back into the room with a small cup filled with a purple liquid and goes to Dumon's bed side, helping him to sit up even though it hurts.

"Here takes this, it will help with the pain." He says softly.

Dumon all to eager for the pain to end takes it, since his body is so weak the mixed liquid affects him immediately. Dumon passes out in Embers arms, the others gasp in horror thinking the worst has happened.

"Don't worry, the liquid is a mix of a sedative and a numbing spell. He'll be completely out and unable to feel the pain the healing liquid causes." Embers says to calm the others.

Embers gently lefts Dumon off the bed and takes him over to the healing capsule. Setting all the electrodes on Dumon's chest and head to track breathing, vitals and brainwaves, after that he sets a breathing mask over his mouth and nose so he won't drown in the liquid.

Then lowers him down into the capsule, the liquid fizzes when it makes contact with Dumon's open wounds. The others watch as Dumon's small cuts fade away, Dumon himself doesn't feel a thing and is completely unconscious physically. Embers snuck in the same two spells that he gave Dumon earlier into the healing liquid but they're much strong then what he was given so he doesn't wake up in the middle of things.

The minutes seem to tick by like hours, Embers doesn't leave Dumon's side for anything and the others anxiously await for Dumon to wake up. Suddenly Dumon's vitals being to drop and Embers gets a splitting headache as he feels his human side's influences over him begin to fade. One part of Embers tells him to let Dumon die, while the other half tells him if you let Dumon die you'll feel incomplete forever.

For Embers it really wasn't a choice, he was going to save his human half no matter the cost. Dumon is taken out of the capsule for a moment to find what could still be hurting him, it doesn't take long to find it. A knife blade had broken off in the middle of when he was being tortured and is now stuck in his abdomen. Embers forcibly rips the blade out of Dumon's abdomen causing his human half to wake momentarily and throw up from shock. The others turn their heads away not wanting to watch their friend be in anymore pain.

With the blade gone Dumon is put back in the capsule. He stiffens a bit when the liquid touches his new fresh wound but the two secretly added spells calm and numb his pain, keeping him in a gentle black but peaceful void.

The hours turn into days and days into weeks. The one responsible for Dumon's pain comes to visit him, wanting to know if he's okay. Embers won't let Nash near Dumon, the guilt and sham remind him of what he has done upon seeing Dumon from the entrance to the infirmary. Weeks now turn into months and the guilt continues to eat away at Nash. He's unable to sleep and work, he's even lost his appetite. But this is his way of torturing and punishing himself, to pay for the horrible way he treated Dumon. Embers doesn't feel sorry for him what so ever and wants Nash to suffer something far worse but leaves him to suffer in his own away.

After many mouths in the healing capsule Dumon is finally ready to come out, he has a few scars left behind but that's better then being dead. With the help from Embers and his family Dumon is able to make a full recovery.

"Has he...?" Dumon asks Embers hesitantly.

"He has, but I haven't let him near you since I brought you back. He's no good for you if all he's going to do is make you feel bad." Embers says bluntly.

Dumon looks down in sadness, "Do you still have them?" He asks.

"Of course but I don't see why you're still bothering to keep them, you don't need anything that binds you to him." Embers replies handing the two long black velvet boxes over. "Oh and don't forget able this." He tosses over his lapis.

Dumon catches it and smiles a bit at the item, "It has been awhile since I've seen this..." He says, sounding a bit distant. He puts his lapis back on his wrist and the gems glows having recognized it's owner.

In the World of Corruption Nash's health has declined as well as his mental stability, his sister Merag has taken over running the kingdom while Durbe tries to help Nash as best as he can to keep him from getting worse then he already is. Nash looks somewhat okay but that's only due to Durbe's care.

"Have you heard anything?" Nash asks emotionless.

"No, I haven't heard anything about him Nash. But I'm sure he's recovering well from his injuries." Durbe says sadly, not wanting to get his king's hopes up if it turns out to be false.

Dumon reluctantly reaches out to contact Nash, who doesn't answer. Instead it's Merag and Durbe that answer him.

"He's not doing well I take it?..." Dumon asks sadly.

"Unfortunately not, but are you okay? From Embers outburst it sounded like you were in ruff shape." Durbe says.

"Ruff shape is an understatement..." Dumon replies with a sad smile.

"Are you willing... to come over?" Merag asks hesitantly.

"We're going to have to faces each other eventually..." He says sadly to Merag, "I'll be over when I can." And with that he ends the call.
