chapter thirty-six
(and yet again i have no idea for a song so here's a gif)
-
a few days after their rendezvous in the city of love, aria and shawn find themselves on a bus, taking a drive to berlin for another show. the two of them are sitting in the private room at the end of the bus, wanting a little bit of alone time from the communal area, to talk about their relationship, and general things they don't want others to over hear.
"where do you see yourself in five years?" shawn asks aria gently, tracing little patterns over her smooth shoulder, as she sits, nestled up to his side.
"hopefully successful, maybe married, but happy," she says to him, being completely and utterly certain. "i just want to be happy. that's all i want."
"that sounds like a great future," shawn responds, a small smile toying on his lips, as he thinks back to the ring he purchased just after him and aria got back together. "when do you want to get married?"
"well, anytime to be fair. i'm 18 now, and personally i think that if it feels right, it's valid," she spills, not even knowing about the plans shawns making in his mind. "i mean, get engaged, but not married for another few years at least." she snuggles closer to shawn. "what about you?"
"i want to get married soon, maybe have some kids in the near future," shawn says, making aria smile gently to herself. "how many kids do you want?"
"i want three," she says, making shawns eyes go wide. "i want one girl, and two boys. the two boys first and then the girl, so she'll have three of her best friends to protect her."
"that's sweet," shawn grins, leaning down to kiss her forehead.
"how many do you want?"
"three too," he agrees with her. "but i want three girls to spoil rotten, maybe two girls and one boy if it comes down to it," aria lets out a small giggle, shutting her eyes briefly. "god, i can't wait to have kids."
"would you be excited if i was pregnant?"
"of course aria," shawn says to her. "i'd be over the moon. i guess when we had the scare, i was only worried because of the sudden news and unplanned nature of things. but i would've been happy."
"oh," she says, as shawn smiles sadly down at her, looking at her peaceful composure. "let's get married, shawn. in four years, and have three kids, and go live in a massive house in london."
"london? why london?" he questions with a small laugh.
"i don't know, i just have always wanted to live in london. why not start a family there?"
"okay, we'll move to london then," he confirms. "we'll get married, and have three kids, then grow old together and see our grandkids grow up while we spend our days enjoying the world."
"that sounds like a plan," she grins, her eyes fluttering open and connecting with shawns chestnut orbs.
little did aria know, her dreams weren't a mere fantasy.
-
"mum, i'm gonna do it this week," shawn says on the phone to his mother, as he rushes around backstage, well, more like being alone in his dressing room and rushing to get changed.
"do what, shawn?" karen replies, quite confused with him.
"propose. i'm doing it this week," he says quickly, opening the little blue box, looking at the diamond ring he purchased. "i still need to ask her parents, but i'm doing it this week."
"you're going to propose? manny, he's proposing!"
"put him on loudspeaker!" shawn hears aaliyah and his father yell in the background.
"you're proposing?" aaliyah asks him, as he chuckles, closing the ring box.
"yes," he says. "i have the ring, and after a conversation we had this morning, i'm certain of it. she's always been the one."
"oh my goodness, this is so exciting!" his mother squeals, making him laugh. "you're finally getting married!"
"mum, i'm 21, not yet, but engaged at least," shawn chuckles. "aria wants to get married in a few years, so we'll probably wait a little." he hears sniffles on the other side of the phone, and his heart drops. "mum? are you crying?"
"you're just growing up so fast," she replies to shawn, making his eyes tear up. "but i'm happy. i'm so happy, shawn. aria is amazing, i can't wait to call her my daughter in law."
"good, because i can't wait to call her my wife," shawn says, smiling and looking down at his watch. "i'm sorry to cut this short, but i have to go. i just wanted to tell you all the news. i'll make sure to call you later."
"okay, good luck for tonight!" aaliyah tells him. "see you."
"bye guys, i love you," he hangs up the phone, sliding it back into his pocket, and spraying his cologne quickly. he slips he blue box back into his backpack, the tiffany logo embossed into the lid, making him smile gently to himself.
"shawn you need to get your mic fitted in five!" someone shouts outside his door, knocking onto the white covered wood.
"yeah, i'll be out there in a sec!" he responds, grabbing the guitar in his dressing room, and looking at his appearance once more, before heading out of the dressing room, bumping straight into someone.
"oh god, i'm so sorry- aria?" shawn says immediately, seeing his lover holding her head, and her face looking down. "shit, did i hurt you?"
"i'll be fine, you just work out too much," she jokes, making shawn laugh. "i came to wish you luck."
"come with me to get my mic fitted," he says to her, as she nods, looking up, and grabbing onto shawns hand. "you look beautiful, by the way."
"thank you, your hoodies really don't make me look tiny," she responds sarcastically, holding up her arms, that are completely covered by shawns hoodie arms, the ends of it hanging over her hands, and the bottom of the hoodie completely covering half of her thighs.
"eh, it suits you better," he grins, letting go of her hand, and swooping his arm over her shoulders. "can we call your parents later? i want to talk to them."
"sure thing, when we get back to the hotel room," she tells him, as the two of them walk to the wings of the stage, where shawn gets his earpiece and mic fitted.
"aria, hey, can we talk?" a certain ginger comes up to shawn and aria, making arias entire composure freeze. she looks up at shawn, who nods and reassures her with a smile.
"yeah," she nods, squeezing shawns hand lightly before she lets go of it. "i love you, good luck tonight, i know you're gonna kill it," she leans up, pressing her lips onto shawns. "i'll see you after the show."
"i love you more," he responds, holding onto her waist and pulling her close. "talk things out, he means well," he whispers into her ear. "i'll see you later."
aria nods, following brian to a quieter area, where not too many people are around. they find a seat on one of the boxes, only a couple people walking past them to where they need to go.
"so, i wanted to talk about what's been happening," brian begins. "first off, i want to start with an apology. i completely and utterly treated your relationship like shit because i was selfish, and i am deeply sorry for that. i never meant for it to get out of proportion, and i didn't exactly think about both of your feelings."
"don't worry about it," aria mumbles. "it's happened, and you didn't feel comfortable with it. everyone makes mistakes sometimes."
"still, that doesn't give me any right to make shawn and you break up," he says to her. "i'm sorry."
"well, thank you for that," she says gently. "and i'm sorry for causing a trouble between shawn and you. i didn't exactly realise the problems people could have with us."
"it was wrong of me to even have problems aria," he tells her. "when two people love each other, especially as much as you and shawn do, they should be together, no matter what. someone's stupid opinion shouldn't count."
aria stays silent for a few moments, before turning her head to look at him. "are you and shawn okay?"
"we're okay," he confirms. "you make him happy, aria. that's all i could ask for."
"he makes me happy," she smiles softly to herself. "thanks brian. i hope we can mend things between us."
"me too," they shake hands, letting out a small chuckle. "should we go?"
"yeah, i should really get to the control table before shawn gets on stage," she says. "see you later then."
"yeah."
all was well.
