what if my dad was right? when he says that you're the one, no i can't even argue - when you're ready, Shawn Mendes
-
"hi mr tate," shawn says to arias father, after he sent her to go and get drinks from the bar in the hotel. "how are you?"
"i'm great, thank you," he responds. "and how many times shawn? it's adam to you," the two men chuckle, as shawn sighs, smiling.
"sorry mr- adam," he corrects himself.
"that's better, you're making me sound ancient by calling me mr tate," he chuckles. "how's everything going on tour?"
"it's going great, thank you. it definitely has been one of the best tours i've had," shawn replies. "listen, i don't really know how much time i have with aria out of the room, but i need to ask you something."
"you have my permission to marry my daughter," her dad responds, making shawn furrow his brow in confusion. "come on shawn, why else would you send aria out of the room to talk to me?"
"adam i-"
"don't apologise! i can see how happy you make her, and that's all i could ask for. after all, you two have been together for a while now, and you live together, so why would i have a problem with it? she found you, and she's the happiest i've ever seen her," shawn smiles gently to himself. "you have my blessing."
"thank you so much adam, i won't fail to keep her happy for the rest of her life. she means the world and more to me, i want her to be forever content with everything," shawn spills out.
"can i tell ashley and liam?"
"of course, as long as no one tells aria. i'm planning to surprise her with it," shawn chuckles. "thank you again, adam. i won't let you down."
"it's no problem, like i said-" the door opens to the hotel room, and aria comes in, two beers in her hands.
"hi aria!" shawn says, stopping adam from talking.
"someone's excited, why?" she asks curiously, sitting back down next to him on the bed, and waving at her dad on facetime.
"just excited to see you," he grins back, taking a beer from her hand. "anyway, thank you again adam, and we'll see you soon."
"you two have fun," he says. "but not too much fun."
"dad!" aria moans, burying her head into shawns side.
"bye aria, i love you!" her dad laughs, hanging up the call.
"thanks for the beer hun," shawn grins, taking a sip of the drink. "german beer, hmm, all we need is a plate of meat now."
"i'm not going back down to get a plate-"
"i'm kidding," shawn cuts her off chuckling. "are you excited to go to london?"
"yes!" she grins back, making shawn smile and his heart fill with joy. he was going to propose in london. "shawn, can we go on a walk as soon as we get there? let's do a midnight walk, and go along south bank at night, get drunk in a pub together, let's go to a food festival, please."
"anything you want baby, we have a little longer there anyway," he smiles, kissing her cheek gently. "how about after my last show, we sneak away and spend the night adventuring?"
"sounds amazing," she hums, putting her empty beer bottle down, and tackling shawn in a hug, making him fall down onto the bed. luckily his beer was empty too. she straddles his waist, smiling softly at him. shawn chuckles, placing his hands on the tops of her thighs, rubbing her legs up and down gently.
"how the heck did i manage to get you to be my girlfriend?" shawn asks, making aria blush furiously, and hide her face in shawns neck. he laughs again, moving his hands to over her back, so he's hugging her close. "why are you getting embarrassed baby?" he chuckles, whispering against her ear. "do i make you nervous?"
"stop," she whines, sitting back up again, as shawn laughs once more, grabbing onto her hands, and resting their joint hands over his chest. "yes, you do make me nervous." she complains, making shawn laugh again. "stop laughing at me!"
"hey," shawn grins, sitting up, so arias position over his lap, and her legs knitted around his torso. "you're so cute," he says, kissing her neck over and over again, whilst aria lets out a high pitched giggle.
"stop!" she laughs, as shawn nips away at the sensitive skin, before licking it. "shawn! gross!" she squeals, pushing him away, only to have him pull her closer.
shawn couldn't wait till london.
-
shawn was currently walking around with his manager, backstage at his first night at the o2. he felt happy, he felt content. nothing could change how he felt in that moment.
"andrew, i'm gonna need some free time on the last show," he begins, fiddling with the box in his pocket. "like free time during the show."
"why?" andrew asks confused. "don't you have free time the entire show?" shawn sighs, pulling him by the arm to a quiet corner, where he slips the box out of his pocket, and slowly opens it up, revealing the rock of a diamond. andrew gasps, as shawn shushes him quickly, shoving the box back into his pocket.
"that's why," shawn says firmly. "after when you're ready, i'm gonna do it. she'll be in the crowd for the last show, front row to the b-stage, so i'm gonna need to get her up after the song."
"alright, we can sort that out," andrew nods. "jesus christ you're growing up so fast."
"oh shut up," shawn chuckles, his cheeks heating up. "i'm ready, i've never been more ready for anything in my life."
"good, because everyone can see how happy you get when you simply just catch sight of her," andrew tells him. shawn smiles to himself, looking down at the floor as the two of them continue their short walk. "i'm so happy for you."
"thanks gerty," he grins back, as the two of them come to shawns dressing room. "i'll see you at the meet and greet, i just need to freshen up a little," shawn says, as andrew nods.
"alright, see you later," andrew walks further away, leaving shawn to enter his dressing room alone.
shawn turns the lights on, seeing aria asleep on the black couch. he smiles gently, walking over to her, taking off his hoodie, and placing it over her shoulders and arms, so she's a little bit more warmer and comfortable. he leans down, pressing his lips to her forehead, before deciding to change his shirt, and gym shorts to something more presentable.
"huh?" aria wakes up with a jolt, whilst shawn slides a pair of jeans up his legs. "where?"
"good morning to you too," he jokes, doing up his belt as aria looks over her shoulder, seeing shawn.
"jesus christ, you scared me!" she says, balling up his hoodie and throwing it at him. "i fully hate you."
"no you don't," shawn cheekily grins making sure the ring box is safely inside his pocket without aria knowing about it. he slides a shirt on, buttoning it up, and rolling the sleeves up his arms. "how do i look?"
"handsome as ever," she responds, sarcastically, and looking at her phone.
"aria."
"fine, you look great," she sighs, moving her eyes to shawn, and seeing him fully dressed, much to her dismay. "why are you matching me?" she stands up, revealing herself in black jeans and a white off the shoulder blouse, making shawn laugh as he's in black jeans and a white button up.
"am i not allowed to match my girlfriend now?" shawn teases, placing his hands on his hips. aria scoffs, walking over to him, and sliding her arms around his torso, tilting her chin up so she's looking straight at him.
"no," she whispers. "i'm stealing that shirt tonight."
"whatever helps you sleep at night," shawn smirks back, making aria smile and let out a small chuckle. "you steal all my shirts anyway."
"i don't see you complaining about it," she shoots back. "i'll wear it tonight to the show."
"okay," he grins, leaning down to kiss her lips softly. "but you have to let me wear your shirt while performing."
"keep dreaming mendes."
"will do."
