Arrival
If he had to admit it, Seàn had felt relieved when Searle told him Mark and Ethan had both said yes. A little disappointed that he didn't know anyone else, but still relieved nonetheless that there would be someone he knew.
Agent Searle had approached him the night he made it back to Felix and Marzia's. They had hardly even sat for dinner when Searle knocked and pulled Seàn into working for S.W.O.R.D. The hospital must have noted in his record that he saw something. He didn't exactly know why exactly he had been pulled into S.W.O.R.D., though.
Seàn laid flat on his back, staring at the bunk above him. Every other room had become occupied with other agents. S.W.O.R.D. had a huge uprise in agents after the Decimation had been undone- both new and old. At the moment he had a room to himself, but Searle had basically promised that Seàn, Mark, and Ethan would all be sharing the room with one other person.
"Seàn, you should be training," Chase chided.
Seàn rolled his head over to look at the bunk next to his. Chase sat there, eyebrow raised.
"Searle can kiss my ass. I'm in so much pain right now," Seàn grumbled, covering his face. They hadn't even started testing him for his powers yet- since they were going by last name. He almost felt bad for the people with names later in the alphabet, but he also felt bad for people already tested. They had to balance power training with physical training.
A knock resounded on his door. Chase disappeared as Seàn shot up off his bed into attention. He could barely see himself in the bathroom mirror- he looked like an absolute dork.
Searle opened the door a minute later, face blank. "Aren't you supposed to be somewhere, Seàn?"
The YouTuber relaxed a bit- Searle hadn't called him agent. "I had trouble moving this morning- especially after Rowe had us exercising until midnight."
Searle sighed, "I'm gonna have to talk to him, again. Anyway, Mark and Ethan are about to touch down. I want you on the airstrip to greet them."
Seàn nodded his heart rate speeding up. Finally, someone he knew that wasn't also in his head.
"Get to it. I have to go speak with Rowe. Make sure they make it back here, in uniform, and into physical as soon as possible. Understood?" Searle held the door open.
Nodding, Seàn slipped his shoes on and ran out the door. His lungs ached, but the excitement of seeing friends again pushed him further.
"Mental note," Seàn mumbled as he turned a corner, "Hit the 'haler once I get back."
"Got it written for you!" Chase shouted from somewhere behind you.
I have to get used to that. The fact that his voice was insanely similar still threw him off, but Seàn had to admit he didn't jump as much whenever someone appeared. Chase came through the most, but he hadn't seen Anti since the hospital.
Seàn opened the doors to the new morning, taking a moment to gulp in the fresh air. A few yards away he could see an airplane touching down- he had to assume it was his friends.
He took off running again, excited to see Mark and Ethan. They had so much to catch up on, maybe he'd take a long way and walk on the way back.
Seàn stood in front of the plane's entrance, hands in his pockets. No one else was out here, besides fellow agents. He didn't have to worry about formalities.
The door opened, and Mark stepped out first with his bags. Seàn had to withhold himself from running up the stairs and tackling him in a hug. Mark had other ideas, though, because Seàn could swear that as soon as Mark saw him he started walking faster.
As soon as Mark hit the bottom step Seàn began walking forward. The two met in the middle, nearly tackling each other in their hug.
"Oh my god, I missed you so much," Mark mumbled into Seàn's shoulder.
Seàn laughed a little, "I can tell!" It remained silent for a moment before Seàn spoke up, " I missed you too."
Another pair of arms wrapped around them, "'Sup fuckers!"
Seàn shifted his arm so that he was hugging Ethan too, "Short gang back in business."
Mark and Ethan laughed, and for the briefest moment, a feeling washed over Seàn that he couldn't explain. Was it happiness? No, that wasn't quite right. Relief.
Seàn pulled away first, breaking the hug up. "I've got to get you two back to our room, and then suited up and ready for physical training."
"Damn, already?" Ethan complained, picking up his bags.
"Yup," Seàn turned around, waving for both men to follow him. Something seemed off about Ethan, but Seàn quickly placed it- Ethan had a bit of a beard growing. It looked good on him.
Chase appeared next to Seàn, making him jump. "What if I grew a beard?" Seàn barely had to look out of the corner of his eye in order to see Chase with a beard. The look- admittedly- made him think about actually copying Ethan.
"How often do we have to train?" Ethan asked, rushing to catch up with Seàn as he turned a corner.
"Every day. They've been testing all of us for powers, and if you don't have powers you get sent home. Half the people here started because they got brought in a few days ago, and most of them are getting sent home," Seàn explained. "They're going in alphabetical order by last name, so Mark they may pull you out for testing when we got to train in a little bit. I'm supposed to be getting pulled either today or tomorrow and Ethan you should be pulled within the next couple of days."
Seàn turned another hallway and noticed Jackieboyman stood right in front of the door to his- no, their dorm. The superhero stepped into the room through the door just as the trio approached.
"Home sweet home," Seàn mumbled, opening the door. "Y'all can choose whatever bunk you want, just make sure you don't pick that one." Seàn pointed to the bed that was obviously his, where Jackie lounged with a grin. The bright red jumpsuit stood out drastically from the dull grays and greens of the room.
Ethan walked right in and plopped his stuff on one of the upper bunks, but Seàn noticed that Mark hesitated. He was staring directly at Seàn's bed, eyebrow raised. Seàn didn't say a word as Mark shook his head, walking over to the bunk underneath Ethan's. It looked like Seàn would continue to have his own bunk to himself.
"Your uniforms are in those dressers, Ethan I believe yours is the one on the right, and Mark yours is in the middle," Seàn mumbled, walking over to his own bed. Did Mark see Jack? Seàn watched Jack disappear and laid right back onto his bed as Mark and Ethan changed. Seàn stared at the door, noticing someone else step through.
Wasn't that Wilford?
