四 blood
Your eyes flickered open.
You let out a shaky exhale as you realized a pair of arms was wrapped around you.
Warm body, your back pressed to his chest.
It was comforting, sure.
But it wasn't him.
Your heart ached so badly.
He lacked that familiar scent that made your stomach knot up.
Law.
He smelled like faint citrus sometimes because he washed his hands so much.
He smelled like boy, but also a bit of cologne.
He smelled sexy.
To you at least, because Penguin and Shachi had told you he started taking better care of himself once you came around.
Maybe the man had been depressed.
He clearly struggled with emotions.
But anyone would with the amount of things he had gone through in his lifetime at 26.
He was so awful at opening up to you.
You swallowed hard, chewing your lip.
The thought that he had never opened up to anyone else.
That you were special.
You wanted to believe that so bad.
Penguin had told you he had never looked at anyone the way he looked at you.
You clenched your eyes shut.
Fuck, you missed him.
Your eyes stayed clenched shut as you imagined it was his arms around you in that moment.
You missed the way you could feel everything, as he pulled you against his chest.
The way you would both wake up and you'd feel him bury his face in your neck.
Hot breaths, against your skin.
You missed laying naked with him, not even in a sexual way.
In a way where you felt like you fully had him.
Skin, against skin.
"Shiina."
You blinked.
"You okay?"
You sat up slowly, head turning to Sora who was laying beside you.
His kind, calm brown eyes.
He always slept fully clothed if you had to share a bed.
He always offered to sleep on the floor.
You always told him no.
"You were breathing heavy."
You swallowed hard.
"Nightmare."
He extended a hand gently pulling you closer to him, fingertips stroking your back.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
You shook your head against the crook of his neck,
"No."
Sora could not have been more opposite of Law.
Sora's eyes were transparent.
You could practically read his thoughts, his concern, his worry.
He was soft.
Caring.
Kind.
When he met you, you were guarded, weak.
He put you back together, and held your hand every step of the way.
He was in touch with his thoughts and emotions.
He wanted to talk about things.
Law never did.
When you opened your mouth to argue the man pushed you up against a wall and shut you up with his mouth.
And you were too weak to argue with that because it felt so good.
His eyes hid a lot behind them.
Cool, silver.
Steel eyes.
He was quiet.
He lost his temper.
He was bad at controlling his emotions, and bad at communicating.
He was pushing you away, while pulling you closer.
It hurt your mind.
It hurt your heart.
His crew had helped you through losing Sora and your crew more than he had.
But eventually, somehow, in some twisted way you became attached.
You wanted to believe it was love.
Although you reminded yourself often your view had been skewed.
Not just skewed, destroyed.
Mutilated.
Violated.
So it couldn't have possibly been love.
Not when he left.
Not when he made you feel the way he did.
It was painful.
So painful.
You had heart broken multiple times now.
First by the man who was supposed to be like your father.
And then by Law.
Who had claimed to love you.
You told yourself, if that was his love, you were better off without it.
But then why had you never felt more dead?
Zoro immediately drew his sword.
He was smart.
He thought it was a trap of some kind, set up to slow him, and keep him from getting back to the Merry.
You moved your hand in a flat line, angled toward his feet, and in that moment he was sent flying backwards, losing his footing a large gash in the ground in front of him.
"Shiina-"
Sora immediately gripped your wrist tugging you backwards, but your gaze remained locked on Zoro.
"It isn't a trap."
You breathed out,
"I don't even think the Donquixote family knows I exist."
Zoro standing, just a few feet back from where he was, still in a defensive position.
You knew he wasn't dumb. He could tell you hit the surface just in front of his feet to not hurt him, but stop his attack.
You were in fact not trying to hurt him.
But he was still extremely confused.
His sword lower slowly as he spoke,
"That doesn't make any sense."
You nodded,
"I know that."
You replied your voice level.
"Shiina,"
You turned to Sora who was looking at you with a saddened gaze,
"You think your father doesn't know you exist?"
You could see from your peripheral vision the swordsman's brows furrow.
You exhaled softly,
"If the man is as cruel as Law said he was, I doubt it."
"Shouga's wife told me my actual mother had been killed by Shouga. When he found her she was a runaway."
Sora's face paled,
"You're saying..."
"Doflamingo..."
Zoro's voice cut him off,
"Doffy's got a kid running around?!"
You let out a slight laugh,
"Unfortunately so."
Me.
I'm the kid you bozo.
For having such a high bounty the man sure was dense.
You glance back at Sora,
"Yes. I'm saying I was a mistake, and had he known my mother was pregnant he probably would've done something awful, probably even have killed her."
"What other reason would a person have for running away?"
"Her own safety, and her baby's safety."
Sora looked sick.
Of course he did.
He wanted something in your life to be a good thing, not a tragedy.
He wanted everything for you.
He shook his head,
"I thought... I don't know, maybe he really loved her. He knew his line of work was too dangerous and sent your mom away to be safe and have you."
Zoro grunted,
"Look not to burst your bubble but I doubt this guy is incapable of any kind of emotion that's not evil. Let alone feeling love."
You nodded slowly looking down for a moment.
"I'm kind of thankful Law warned me."
"Because I had always kind of pictured made up scenarios in my mind that he would've let me come running to him with open arms."
You said with a dry laugh, gaze fixed on the ground in front of you.
"He's just as awful as Shouga," you breathed out under your breath, as your wings started to disintegrate until you were back to your normal state.
You glanced at Zoro,
"Get the fairy."
He nodded, tugging Wicca from his shirt.
You approached him as you spoke to Wicca,
"Where did you say there was a Donquixote family encounter?"
"An island called Greenbit miss."
"It's attached by bridge, just north of Dressrosa."
He replied with his gaze fixed on yours with a determined expression.
Gosh he was adorable.
You nodded.
It sounded familiar.
You could certainly find your way.
Your gaze met Zoros again,
"I need to go to Greenbit."
"I'm not here to find Law, I'm here to find my father."
You said firmly.
You felt slightly guilty since you had promised to help him with directions, but he looked at you and nodded.
"Sora."
You glanced to see him standing close to behind you.
You then turned to walk toward the main street before turning over your shoulder to glance at Zoro.
"Good luck."
His gaze had never left yours.
"I hope to see you again, swordsman."
Before disappearing into the busy streets.
---
The navy had arrived on the island.
Robin and Ussopp were underground with the dwarves, who soon found themselves united with Franky as well.
Doflamingo and Fujitora had attempted to stop Law, although he managed to escape with Ceasar.
Nami, Chopper, Momonosuke, Brook, Sanji, Law and Ceasar were back on the Sunny, where Law had told them to take his vivre card and head to Zou.
The only thing left to do on the island, was to destroy the factory.
It came down to Law, and the man who he loathed more than anything.
They both stood on the bridge that connected Greenbit and Dressrosa.
Despite feeling incredibly exhausted he declared that he was going to make Doflamingo pay for what he did 13 years ago.
For who he killed 13 years ago.
He was willing to sacrifice himself, knowing Luffy would defeat Doflamingo.
Doflamingo veins popped from his forehead with rage when Law mentioned the will of D.
And he took that rage out on the man in front of him.
Who had escaped him all those years ago.
Law.
You had made it.
You had made your way across Dressrosa.
The city was beautiful. Lively.
Had it been your choice you would've flown, but of course you had to blend in for your own, and everyone else's safety.
And soon, you found yourself at a large barbed wire bridge, just like the one Wicca had described led to Greenbit.
You stood beside Sora, and he looked at you.
He could tell there was something on your mind, something that you sensed.
Your head was spinning with too many things.
But you managed to get out words, gaze fixed on the bridge in front of you two,
"I don't even know what to say to him."
"When I see him."
Your father.
You hadn't thought of it.
You had come all this way, and didn't really even know what the hell you were going to do, to say.
What had you even expected?
You were probably just going to have your heart broken again.
Another family member that was a gut wrenching let down.
Another loss, not by death.
Which in a way was so much worse, knowing they were living, but may as well have been dead to you.
But a part of you deep down, wanted him so badly to accept you.
Even if he was a terrible man you just wanted to be loved.
No matter how terrible, you were his flesh and blood.
You swallowed hard,
"Let's go."
"We came all the way here."
You had stopped because you were scared.
You knew that.
Sora knew that.
But he listened to your words, moving forward.
"You trust that Strawhat that much?" were the first words you heard through the fog.
You froze. Silent.
That deep voice.
A tall figure.
"Because I know..."
Your gaze flickered to the figure that was struggling to stand.
"...I know the "D" will blow up a storm again."
Law?
Your hands clenched into fists at your side.
He was willing to die because he trusted Luffy to defeat Doflamingo?
Your jaw clenched.
He was willing to die to avenge Corazon?
Of course he was.
He had told you he didn't know what his purpose was after he fulfilled that.
So if he had to die to achieve that goal, he was okay with it.
Then he would be reunited with the person he had cared for most.
So why did it feel a knife through your heart all over again?
Why did you suddenly feel like you were standing on that ship, chained up while he stood on Punk Hazard, leaving you behind without a word?
Shit.
You could've stopped it.
You practically hear the anger in Doflamingo's breaths.
The shadow of his hand twitch.
But you were frozen in place.
As he pulled his arm back, silver strings slashing through the air.
A pained cry, from the body that was on the ground.
And you did nothing but watch from afar.
Hidden from view.
The body was limp.
Law's body was limp.
And then they were gone.
As fast as they had appeared, they were gone.
Strings attached to the clouds, as the pink feathered jacket disappeared into the distance, Law's limp body thrown over his shoulder.
You just stood and watched.
Feeling...
...nothing?
You stood on the bridge, watching the two people you needed to speak to most disappear again.
You turned to Sora, who was already looking at you.
Your expression was blank.
Eyes void of anything as you spoke calmly,
"Sora."
He nodded, listening to every word you spoke,
"My loyalty doesn't belong to Law."
"It never should have."
You needed to hear your fathers voice again.
He was your only family.
You needed him.
Sora looked at you with a slightly uneasy expression.
Because for some reason, with your pale skin having a bit of a tan, your blonde hair blowing in the breeze. Red eyes staring blankly back at him, you suddenly looked eerily alike.
Eerily alike to the man whose name he knew you were going to say your loyalty belonged to.
"My loyalty belongs to my blood."
"To Doflamingo."
