Chapter One- A Box And A Boy

"Everything is going to change..."

I woke with a jolt. Water immediately filling my lungs. I quickly coughed out what felt like my insides below me, it all falling through small square gaps into a dark and freaky hole that pooled endlessly underneath me.

I couldn't look at my surroundings, it was pitch black, other than the flickering red lights lay around the sides of what looked like a cage. I managed to sit up and lean against the back of the cold metal, sending shivers down my spine. I began to search my mind for any answers on what was happening, nothing was coming to me. My mind just felt like an empty void, with nothing useful filling it. I tried to make things out by squinting my eyes into the darkness, I saw a few outlines of what looked to be like boxes, possibly containing something useful? Just as I was about to reach one of them a loud gasp emitted from in front of me. It sounded as if they were coughing the water out of their lungs too, like i had a few minutes ago. Eventually it stopped, I wasn't sure if I should say something or not. I didn't know what to choose. But they chose for me.

"Who the hell are you?" The person across me quickly asked as they noticed my presence. Sounded male, and possibly older.

"Who the hell are you?!" I asked, my voice sounding very high pitched and fragile.

Every time I spoke it felt like sharp knives piercing my throat, and it really hurt.

This went back and forth for a few more seconds....

"I asked you first!"

"No I did!"

"Well just tell me!"

"I don't know!"

"What the hell do you mean you don't know?"

"I mean I don't know!"

"Wait...I don't know either!"

Eventually we stopped, realising this was getting us no where. We both couldn't remember a thing. Our name, age, what we looked like, our families, friends, even the outside world. I could remember basic things, like dogs and music, but not who told me them or how I found out about them...I just somehow knew. What kind of monster would do this? And most importantly, why?

Soon enough the whole box stopped, quickly making me stand up and the guy across from me do the same. What seemed to be two large metal doors, slid open, allowing light to fill the cage we were trapped in. I could now see the boy who was stood across from me, the same look of fear attached to his face. He was dark skinned, around fifteen, he had a slight stubble of hair on top of his head, brown eyes. he wore dark blue jeans, a belt and a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

I soon realised he was looking at me too, trying to figure out who I was. I felt as though I knew him, he felt oddly familiar. I just opened my mouth to speak when a loud and ear piercing noise scared the hell out of me from behind. Without thinking what I was doing I jumped on the boys back in fear.

"Holy shit!" I cursed out loud, surprising myself a little bit.

"Its a sheep..." The boy bluntly stated, holding onto me slightly.

I quickly got off him, and cleared my throat, brushing myself off in the process.

"Yeah I knew that. Sorry." I rubbed the back of my neck out of major embarrassment. What a first impression that was.

The boy began to laugh at my antics, wiping a few tears away in the process.

"Never mind, im not sorry." I cross my arms and narrow my eyes at him, giving him a sign to stop laughing and he does. "Get the damn sheep." I quickly point to it and push myself out of the box. I then take the sheep off the boy and let it wonder off wherever. Soon after the boy got out of the cage too.

We both froze in our positions. It felt as if time had stopped completely. Looking at everything that was lay in front of us, it felt like my brain was being turned to mush. Light grass was everywhere. Dark green trees filled a few corners here and there, deep green vines were flowing anywhere you looked. But the one thing that stood out to me, literally, were the tall, concrete, grey walls that blocked our view of the outside. The only thing we could see was the bright blue sky and in front of us lay a large opening between the walls. Split apart like a door, leading down a long and windy corridor, vines filled inside every crack that could of been located there. Beside the opening was what looked to be a forest, filled with dark, lush green trees that waved whenever the wind blew past my ears, which made my dark brown hair fly past my face. Not far from that was some sort of window, attached into the one of the high walls, leading to what looked to be another corridor. But I couldn't quite make it out, vines were slipped in front of it just as everything else was. I was trying so hard to keep myself under control, I could hear the silence around me, my breathing becoming ragged, my whole body starting to shake slightly. But the boys words took my mind off myself and possibly stopped me from having some sort of breakdown by distracting me.

"Where are we?" I heard the boy ask beside me, his voice slightly trembly, but I could tell he was trying his best to hide it.

"Hell if I know..." My eyes just widened at the sight ahead of us. My thoughts flew throughout my brain, jumbling into loads of different and unanswerable questions that I didn't have the knowledge for. Until one thought bubbled and came up to the front of my mind..

Were we ever getting out of this place?
