It hurts a lot when things are not going how you want it

I groaned as I felt the sunlight kissing my face. What's the use of such a huge ass mansion if the curtains can't block the sunlight?

I opened my eyes as I tried to take in my surroundings. I was in Xavier's room again for the second time. His room is greyish black with a bed in the centre, the same bed where we made love last night without being intoxicated with alcohol. I wrapped the thin bedsheet around my naked body as I picked up my torn lingerie and the dress.

I went to my room and directly took a shower. My hair was a mess and my neck was covered with red patches and my make-up was completely ruined. I took a quick ten minutes shower as I got ready to go to work.

Leo's gf:

" FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, A DRESS IS SOLD FOR 50 MILLION DOLLARS IN AN AUCTION!!"

"XAVIER DEANGELIS BOUGHT A DRESS FOR HIS WIFE AUBREY CLINTON FOR 50 MILLION DOLLARS!"

"THE ANNUAL MET BALL ORGANISED BY FAMOUS ACTOR LEO MARTINI AND DESIGNER MADELINE LEWIS RAISED A TOTAL OF 65 MILLION DOLLARS!"

"I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, THANK YOU!"

I chuckled as I replied to her texts. I glanced at the clock to see that it was 10:30 am. I decided to call Hailee as I went to the kitchen to have breakfast.

"Who the fuck is calling this early?" I heard a very familiar voice fr Adrian. At first, I was shocked, but then I remembered that they both left the ball early.

"Mr Martini, it is almost noon. Please tell my assistant to be there at the office in fifteen minutes," I said and cut the call. I don't know what happened last night between them, but I know for a fact that Hailee needs to tell Adrian about Lily before he finds out himself.

I went to the garage and drove off to my office.

As soon as I saw Hailee walking in, I immediately said, "I am glad you showed up on time, Miss Smith,"

She had a panicked look on her face. Her hair was not tied in a bun as usual but in a messy ponytail. "I am so sorry ma'am-" "Have a seat Hailee," I said as I pointed to the chair in front of me. She sat down her eyes not leaving the ground.

"As a boss, I am not interested in your personal life Hailee, as long as it doesn't affect your work," She was looking at the floor with guilt.

" Are you planning to tell him about Lily?" "Yes," "When?" "Soon," she muttered. "I will give you one week Hailee, if you don't tell him sooner, I am afraid that he will find out himself and that will make things worse." She nodded as I sighed.

"Now, let's work on the Greece Hotel projects," I said as she meekly nodded again.

I and Xavier had divided the project equally. He was in charge of the construction of the building while I was in charge of the whole interior of the hotel. The designs of the hotel which we had shown the Adonis brothers were designed by me. In a way, I am glad that I was handling the interior. I had done a double degree, in Business Management and Fine Arts.

Flashback

"You know, you can convince your dad to let you start your own architecture company," Xavier said as he left the coffee on the study table and kissed my forehead.

"I know but I can't handle both the company side by side," "I am with you no matter what you choose," He said as he wrapped his arms around my waist and I attached my arms to his neck.

"Besides I can still do architecture while handling dad's company, so I am not sacrificing my passion," I said as I rested my head on his shoulder inhaling his addictive scent.

"True. You have to design my hotels one day Miss Clinton," He said as he circled his arms around my waist kissing my neck.

"I would love to do business with you with one day Mr DeAngelis," I said as I pressed my lips against his.

"Mrs DeAngelis," I was pulled back into reality by Hailee's voice. "The meeting with the HODs will start in fifteen," "Prepare the room I will be there in five,"

The meeting went on for a long time. I was still going over all the details and making sure that the HODs made the arrangement that we had discussed in the meeting. I didn't want any imperfections in the slides and the contracts as I will be working with Xavier for the first time. I want it to be immaculate.

I finally shut down my laptop and saw that it was 12:15. I saw Hailee's cabin's light was still on. "I told you to go home Hailee after the meeting." " I am so sorry ma'am, I had to go through some emails." "I will drop you home" "It's fine-" " I want to meet Lily again and it's quite late and I don't remember asking you, Hailee."

Hailee rang the doorbell and was greeted by a sixty-year-old lady, who had a disappointed look.

"I am so sorry Miss Evans, I was caught up with work," Before she could say anything she was cut off by Lily's voice. "Let me gwuess it was your boss again," I observed a small figure of Lily, who had her hands on her hips. I looked at Hailee and saw her eyes widen.

"Prwetty lady!!" I chuckled as I bent down to height. So she remembers me but doesn't know that I am her mom's boss.

"You don't like your mommy's boss?" I said and she vigorously shook her head side to side.

"But I thought you liked me," I said with a fake hurt expression. At first, she was confused but then she realised what I said.

"So you are the bwoss who doesn't let my mummy come hwome early?" She said with an angry look on her face with her lips pouted.

"Lils!" "I am sorry cupcake but your mom does an amazing job so I needed her," She didn't budge at all. "Okay how about this, every time your mom comes home late, I will send with her your favourite chocolates," I said and her eyes lit up. "Owkay!" She squealed in excitement. "Ma'am you are spoiling her too much" "It's fine Hailee. And please, call me Aubrey outside work," I said.

"I hope you sort things with Adrian, Hailee. I will leave now, I want you to arrive at Xavier's building with the HODs sharp at 7:40 am" She nodded. "Thank you so much, ma'am, I mean Aubrey for dropping me," "You are welcome, Good Night," I said as I gave her a small smile.

I finally reached home at 12:45 am. I headed straight to my room when suddenly I felt a hand on my wrist and I was pushed against the wall, caging me with one hand on the wall and the other above my head.

"I want you in my office at sharp 8 a.m., Mrs DeAngelis," Xavier said as he shamelessly stared at my lips. I subconsciously licked them and he looked at me as if challenging me to do it again. His eyes then dropped to my slightly exposed cleavage. " I will be there, Mr DeAngelis," I said directly looking into his eyes. His eyes rested on my lips for two seconds and then he removed his arms as he walked towards his room without giving me a second glance.

I woke up early at 6:30 am and took a shower. I hate being late to meetings and by any chance, if I reach late to his office he won't leave the chance of mocking me.

I got ready and drove off. I parked my black Maserati MC20 beside Xavier's grey Aston Martin DB11.

I was now standing in front of Xavier's eighty-floor tall black tinted glass building. The moment I walked into the building almost all the employees stopped doing their work. Ignoring their stares and the mutters, I walked towards the lift. I was impressed with the interiors and the overall aesthetic of the office. Judging Xavier's personality I thought even inside the building everything would be black. I pressed the last button which was labelled as the CEO's office. Within thirty seconds the lift halted.

The lift opened to reveal a spacious floor with a receptionist desk in the front. The woman heard the click of my heels and immediately got up from her desk and walked towards me with a huge grin on her face.

"Mrs DeAngelis! Mr DeAngelis is waiting for you in his office. Your assistant is already here, the meeting will start in seventeen minutes." She looked like a woman in her late thirties. She walked towards the right side revealing a room that had Xavier's name on it.

I walked in, not caring to knock.

"Is there anything you want to tell me, Mr DeAngelis?" I said, keeping my tone as professional as possible.

The meeting went smoothly, honestly, better than I expected it to be. Xavier tried to ask one of my HODs impossible possibilities that he thought might go wrong but Mr Brown handled it smoothly. Even I questioned some of the processes but Xavier was quick to respond smartly.

" Great presentation, Mrs DeAngelis and the team. We will start with the interior once the construction work has been completed." He said calmly, he paused for a second, "I want everyone out except Mrs DeAngelis," He said in a loud voice and everyone left the room in a hurry.

"If there is anything important matter to discuss Mr DeAngelis, please tell my assistant the same she will set up a meeting," I said as I got up from the chair and turned around to leave. "So I need to book a meeting to spend time with my wife?" he spat those words in anger.

I closed my eyes and inhaled as I turned around. "I was here to discuss the project with you and that's done, Mr DeAngelis. I don't see the reason why I need to spend my time with you," He was going to argue further but was cut off by my phone's ring.

I saw Jane's name flashing on my screen and I quickly picked up the call. She never calls me unless it is an emergency.

"Hello? Is everything okay Jane?" I said ignoring the fact that Xavier was in the same room.

"Aubrey, Lucca is in the hospital."
