"You're doing what?" Ira's best friend asks her.

"I'm getting married."

"With..."

"Rohan." she knows no further details about her future life partner.

"What? Who's he?" 

"I don't know..."

"They're getting you married to a random stranger?!"

"Yes. Why are you even surprised?"

"Ira. This isn't right."

"I can't do anything about it. It's fine though- we'll soon love one another," Ira puts on her well-practised forced smile.

"Just say no!"

"I can't."

"You sure as hell can."

"You don't understand, I can't."

"Why not Ira?" 

Ira hesitates, not wanting to go into the grisly details about her life, but soon realises she won't be left alone until she does.
