faking it
Ira types her invitations, faking the joy and cheeriness she shows in them.
Her friends will be attending the wedding, but she is forbidden to speak any wrong about it or the boy.
Not that Ira's father thinks there is anything wrong in the first place. But just to be sure...
---
"What! I never knew you had a boy," her friend screeches down the phone, shell-shocked.
Mmmm, neither did I. thinks Ira. "Yeah, we were pretty lowkey," she feigns the happiness.
"Will you come to the wedding?" she's practically begging for the support on her wedding day, and her friend's reply of an excited 'yes' is like a minuscule lamp lit on a stormy night.
She may not have anyone else. But at least she has her friends.
