CROSSOVER

   “2019 has been a rollercoaster ride for me,” I thought to myself as I sat at the back seat of my dad's Toyota Sienna while my dad drove us to church on the last night of the year.

   I just got home from school few days prior and I was still recovering from the stress

   Being in an over-religious country, I'm so sure nobody would be at home at that moment. Traffic jam at every highway, all going to thank God for a successful year thus far - a successful year indeed if I was actually able to survive it all

   We finally arrived at Christ Victory Life Church International, I was nostalgic seeing everyone so excited about the service.

   “There'll be an overflow tonight,” my sister said. She stuck her face to the window trying to see through the tinted glass.

   “Tonight, even devils would want to commit their new year into the hands of God,” I replied with a smug.

   We stepped out of the car and walked into the church, greeting our elders and waving at our peers along the way.

   Normally, I would sit down for a minute and pray but the atmosphere was damn too good, I got lost in conversations. But I can't be that carried away, I just had to escape somehow and find a seat to settle down.

   “Thank you Lord for your love. Again, I'm seeing the end of another year and very soon, we'll be counting down...” A prayer like this always give me hope.

   The service was running smoothly but I suddenly remembered something - ‘you can't enter a new year without a new plan’. Not like I've ever had a plan before the New Year which is normal because I've so gotten over that 'New Year, New Me’ cliche. But something felt different about that crossover service, I just had to come up with an impromptu annual plan.

   Trust me, every plan I made were just random thoughts because nothing ever changes. I've made New Year resolutions and before the first quarter is over, I'm back to my default setting.

   “10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Happy New Year!!!”

   Everyone was so happy, the praise got everybody dancing. Maybe, this is the euphoria that drags the crowd.

   After the typical crossover service, I got home and slept okay. Woke up by morning, did my routine chores and laze about for the rest of the day.
