Assistant Secretary
You see, Jungwoo was a secretary. Not even a secretary, but an assistant secretary. Basically, he was at the bottom of the stack. He could be the janitor, and that would suck, but if this job failed that's probably where he'd be.
People often said he was too pretty to be a failure, that he could be a model and so much more. Life though didn't seem to care that he was pretty, as he still had the worst of luck. Being pretty didn't guarantee he was good at anything. All Jungwoo could do was smile and wave, it had gotten him this far.
Even if he was only assistant secretary it didn't make his job any less difficult. There were constantly meetings and he had to have things ready for all of them.
Sadly, he rarely got to see Lucas, his attractive boss. He knew he should be more focused on work, but could you blame him?
If you saw his boss, you'd understand.
Everytime Lucas passed him in the hallway or he spotted Lucas passing from a room window, he was sure his eyes lingered longer than they should have.
"Jungwoo?" Joowon called, grabbing the distracted male's attention.
"Yes?"
"While you were devouring our boss with your eyes, I got the janitor to fix the projector for you."
Jungwoo looked down at his shoes in embarrassment and Joowon snickered at him.
"Sorry, and thank you for getting it fixed."
"Why don't you just talk to him?"
"Pardon?"
"Mr. Lucas? Why don't you just talk to him?"
Jungwoo practically cackled. "You make it sound easy."
Joowon shook her head at him. "You just make it harder than it is. I'll even make an excuse for you to see him."
"No thanks I-" before Jungwoo could finish his polite decline, Joowon was chucking a vanilla folder into his arms.
"Tell him I got busy and had you give him this." She winked before rushing down the hallway to deal with something else.
Jungwoo stood there like a fish out of water for a moment before dreadfully making his way over to Lucas' door. He knocked hesitantly, not even sure if Lucas himself had heard it.
"Come in, Jungwoo."
Jungwoo turned the knob and walked into the large sky office. "How did you know it was me sir?"
"I knew it wasn't Joowon. Her knocks are a lot louder and more demanding than yours. Everything about you is quiet and soft, so I assumed your fists were too." Lucas shrugged.
Jungwoo didn't know whether to be offended or laugh. His friends always poked fun at his baby hands.
He had almost forgotten what he was there for until Lucas raised a brow at him, waiting.
"Oh, Joowon wanted me to bring this to you sir." Jungwoo walked closer to him, setting the folder down on the rather messy desk.
Despite being the general manager of an incredibly successful business, Lucas himself was an incredibly dysfunctional person.
No matter where Jungwoo saw him his hair was always ruffled and his tie was loosely done. Not that Jungwoo was complaining. It was probably all from stress.
Jungwoo was quite surprised when he found out Lucas' age. The boy was even younger than him yet had his own company. It made Jungwoo really question his life.
Here he was, this guy's senior, and far beneath his feet. To him Lucas appeared almost untouchable. Lucas was this young and ran a business while Jungwoo had done, well, nothing.
In truth, Jungwoo hadn't amounted to much in his life. He bounced from job to job, apartment to apartment, mate to mate. In his eyes he was a failure. He wasn't trying to throw a pity party, that's what he thought of himself.
He was sure everyone else did as well, deep down.
"Jungwoo?" Lucas called for about the third time.
Jungwoo popped out of his daze and grew embarrassed. "I apologize."
"I have what I need so you can go now."
Jungwoo nodded and had almost made it out the door when, "Wait, Jungwoo."
"He was the one that told me to leave." Jungwoo thought, but merely turned on his heel to face his boss.
"Yes, sir?"
"I meant to ask earlier but I've been so swarmed with work. How is everything going? Are you getting adjusted to working here?"
No boss Jungwoo ever had asked him such things. It took him by surprise. "Oh, yes sir. I'm doing fine."
"Good." Lucas smiled and it was as smooth as butter and as broad as daylight. It was a smile you could wake up every morning to, never growing tired of the way it sat perfectly on his face.
Jungwoo could wake up every morning to that smile, that face.
If only.
Maybe in another life, where they weren't just boss and employee.
It made Jungwoo wonder if he'd ever have a chance at all. There was a good possibility Lucas had a girlfriend, or even a wife. Jungwoo hadn't seen a ring, but he also hadn't gotten close enough.
Oh how he wanted to get even more than close enough. He wanted to sit on Lucas' desk like those messy papers. Maybe he was getting ahead of himself, but the boy could dream. He knew he didn't have a chance, that's why he let his fantasies run wild.
It wasn't exactly like Jungwoo had low self-esteem either, he knew he was attractive, but looking on the realistic side of things there was just no way he'd ever catch a fish like Lucas. His rod was too small and he didn't have the right bait.
Lucas wouldn't just go for any worm on a string, the boy was high-class.
Considering Jungwoo stayed in a relatively small apartment with two roommates, you could easily assume he could never have something like caviar on his hook.
"Jungwoo?" Damn, he was going to get himself in trouble real quick if he kept letting his thoughts get ahold of him. "You seem to be spacing out a lot, are you alright?"
The way Lucas' veins showed in his hands and arms as he folded them underneath his chin was bad for Jungwoo's health.
"I'm fine, sir. I apologize for my spacing and I promise it won't happen again. I'll be taking my leave now."
With that said Jungwoo elegantly made his way out of the office, leaving behind a slightly confused Lucas.

Just throwing it out there that GYOB is like my super fluff story and this one is my more mature story. If you get it, great. If not, good luck.
