( CHAPTER SIX - HUNTING PARTY )

CHAPTER SIX - HUNTING PARTY

WHEN THEY RETURNED to camp, it had gotten pitch-black outside. Dakota's brown eyes settled on the crackling orange glow in the distance while one boy noticed the return of the group, he returned back to the camp and started to announce their arrival. "They're back!"

Clarke and Finn went straight to the drop ship to clean Jasper up while Bellamy and Murphy strolled through the gates with the panther wrapped up. Dakota looked over towards the golden strands that belonged to Clarke, and decided to help them in some way.

"Is he..." Monty started, looking at Jasper.

Dakota exhaled with a smile creeping onto her lips, "He's alive."

Clarke looked over at the two figures, her blue eyes were full of panic and sadness even though her facial expression were straight. "I need boiled water and strips of cloth for bandages." She informed the two.

"I'll go get the water," Dakota nodded her head towards the blonde. Turning on her heel to walk towards the back of the camp where Wells had left some buckets of water for drinking.

There was still some water in the bottom of the bucket but she knew that they probably needed more than that. Dakota grabbed the bucket and made her way towards the fire to heat it up.

"Who's hungry?" Bellamy's strong voice boomed across the camp and everyone erupted into a fit of cheers. Dakota raised her head to see him standing in-front of the huge animal with a face full of pride. He didn't even kill the damn thing..

It only took a couple minutes for the water to start boiling as it sat ontop of the hot coals of the blazing fire. Dakota removed her jacket and decided to use it as a barrier against the hot metal of the bucket so she wouldn't burn her hands on the handle.

"Clarke." Dakota called the blonde as she re-entered the drop ship with the boiling water sloshing against the bucket with each step she took towards her. She could already see some of the blood that was smeared across his chest as Clarke tried to clean around the wound. Finn got up as he heard her voice and grabbed the bucket from her. "Thanks Dakota for helping."

Dakota shook him off. "It's no biggie." Finn returned a smile as he passed her back her jacket after setting down the pale beside Clarke.

Dakota's eyes danced around the small group and then turned to leave the drop ship, walking towards a log and sat down. She sat there, watching the same ritual that had happened last night. People were lining up to get a piece of food- for the price of their wristbands. Bellamy was the one handing the stick of food to them once they were done with the deed, and then patting them on the back for being brave. Dakota rolled her eyes, but the thought of taking off her wristband had crossed her mine once or twice.

"He's stable for now, but without medicine.." Clarke's voice cut through Dakota's thoughts as she exited the drop ship. Finn turned his head to listen, but Dakota just watched in disgust at the act before her. Soon enough, Clarke saw it as well. "They're taking off their wristbands for food? No way! I-I won't do it."

Dakota shook her head and let out a breath. "Ridiculous, isn't it?" She replied, gaining the blonde's attention.

"You don't have too,"  Dakota said quietly. And then, stood up from the log and started moving towards the fire. Her hands grabbed onto a chunk of the meat that was attached to a large stick, but before she could move her hand up, another hand wrapped around her wrist.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Wait! What, do you think you play by different rules?"

Dakota stared over at him. "I thought there were no rules?" She replies which gained the attention of Bellamy. "It's whatever the hell we want, correct?" Dakota smirked over at the two men as she grabbed two more sticks before walking away from them.

Dakota began walking over towards Clarke and Finn who had been watching with proud smirks on their faces. "I didn't get locked up for theft for nothing," She winked over at the two as she handed them their own sticks of food before turning back around to sit down with the two of them.

Her and Bellamy's eyes connected, though he watched and could not do anything about her taking the food, he was forced to make an example out of the next person who dared to touch the rations of food they set out. One boy wanted to do the same, try his luck with the whole stealing thing, but that only got him a fist in the cheek from Bellamy.

Alone time was what Dakota loved the most up on the Ark, she supposed getting locked up had their benefits somewhat, but with the problem on Earth was that she couldn't get that inside of her tent since annoyingly, Bellamy had set her up with her own tent partner that had a mouth on her.

Luckily, she had gotten her hands on a few knives from the camp, and decided it was an amazing time to start a target practice in a Grounder infested forest at night. Her hands tightened around the handle as she let it fly through the air, planting itself into the tree each time.

It wasn't hard to tell that she had gained someone's unwanted attention on her frame. Dakota's brown eyes rolled. "What do you want, Murphy?" She called out while grabbing the knife from the tree and looking out into the darkness.

"You shouldn't venture so far out of camp." Murphy's voice could be heard, but because of the darkness she couldn't see him.

Dakota scoffed as she turned around while seeing the outline of Murphy's body against a tree. "Afraid that I'd go missing?" She asked while spinning her body around and letting a knife fly in Murphy's direction. "Grounder's should be scared of me." She said in a hostile tone as Murphy let out a relived breath that the knife had missed any part of his body and she chuckled as she walked over towards him.

His blue eyes stared back into hers as she removed the knife from the bark of the tree, grunting as she wiggled the blade free. 'Well, if you actually want a chance of surviving down here, it would be smart to not go off camp grounds alone."

Dakota rolled her eyes again, "I'm just telling the truth John. I'm probably the best person in camp with weapon training, and it just so happens-"

"You know you talk to much?" Murphy interrupted her while his head tilted to the side. Dakota bit down on the inside of her cheek as he stared down at her like a game that she didn't know the rules for.

"And you should know that I hate being interrupted."

Murphy grabbed hold of her wrist as she turned back around to walk away from him with a annoyed expression written on her face. Dakota's hips spun around as she looked back over at him with surprise in her brown eyes as he backed her up into a tree. "What are you doing?" Dakota asked, but her voice trailed slightly as he began removing the white fabric from his body and her eyes started moving down his bare skin.

"Stop talking." Murphy ordered before slipping her jacket off her shoulders and letting it trail down her arms in a seductive matter. Dakota swallowed as she felt her throat tighten up. Her tongue darted out to wet her dry lips as her jacket hit the ground. Soon, his lips found hers in a desperate and hungry need, like it was the first time this had happened between them. A surprised gasp escaped from between her lips when his cold hands went under her maroon colored shirt gripping the edges of the fabric to pull it from her body.  Lust had flickered in her eyes as she backed Murphy up into the tree that was behind her, a grunt escaping his lips as his bare skin scraped against the bark.

Her mouth was moving down his chest, teeth dragging along his skin until she was crouched low enough to be face level with his crouch. The bastard was already hard, and she couldn't contain the downright smirk that was threatening to form on her lips.

Her fingers started working on unbuckling his belt that was wrapped around his hips, and she tossed the metal to the ground but then decided to chance the course of action at the last minute. Murphy wanted a game, and she was good at games. Dakota slowly backed herself up against another tree that she knew was behind her, and her hands started working on the buttons of her own jeans. "What are you waiting for?" She purred while slipping her own hand into her jeans. Her head tilted back and Murphy walked over towards her while grabbing her hand.

The moaning hadn't stopped for days; and the hundred were starting to grow impatient. Jasper wailed day in and day out from pain and while no one could really blame him, everyone wanted it to end. Clarke tended to him on the highest level of the drop ship and kept everyone else out, afraid that someone was going to do something that would stop Jasper from being fixed before she ever had a chance to fix him.

Dakota was one of those people who was on the highest level of the drop ship, doing everything she could to help out and heal Jasper. She sat next to Clarke, dabbing his forehead with a cool towel.

"Will someone just shut that kid up!" A voice growled from below the hatch, obviously growing annoyed with Jasper's constant groans of pain.

Dakota rolled her eyes at the yelling and turned to look down at Jasper. "Don't listen to them." She told him softly, hoping that in some way he could hear her. "You're going to survive." She smiled weakly while she stroked his sweaty cheek with the back of her fingers.

"Just die already!"

Dakota frowned again, and then turned towards Clarke. "I'm going to get some fresh air, you got everything here?"

She nodded in response. "While you're down there, can you dump the buckets and get some clean water?" She said quietly as she sat down next to Jasper, holding the same rag that Dakota was holding just seconds ago.

Dakota didn't reply but she did grab the buckets and proceeded down the hatch. While she walked through the camp, she could see the faces of annoyed teenagers who had barely gotten any sleep last night. She dumped the contents of the bucket on the grass when she reached the edge of the camp.

Her brown eyes caught onto Murphy's frame, who was standing a foot away from her. She watched him throw a blade at one of the trees, and then bounced off pathetically. "It's that damn kid. He's messin' with my head." Murphy sighed as he made up an excuse for this lack of knife throwing skills and Dakota rolled her eyes.

"He won't last much longer, so think of a new excuse." Bellamy told him, hurling his axe at the tree. It struck, wedged into the bark. "That's how it's done."

"We searched for miles in all directions. No sign of Trina and Pascal." Atom informed Bellamy as he approached his leader.

"Visit your special tree while you were out there?"

"Adam took his punishment. Let it go." Bellamy shouted after Murphy.

"It could be grounders." Atom said.

"Yeah, or, they could be in pound town. Seems like a lot of that going around recently." Murphy retaliated against him, his smirk growing more wicked.

"Look Bellamy. People are scared. And that dying kid is not helping."

"Moral will go up when I find more food." Bellamy said.

"And what will they say when they ask about Trina and Pascal?" The darker skinned kid said.

"Nothing. They're probably just lost. We'll keep an eye out for them when we go hunting." Bellamy replied while he turned to walk away from them.

"Let's go kill something." Murphy muttered.

"You're not going." Bellamy said, stopping Murphy. "I need you to stay here. The grounders are circling. We can't leave this place unprotected.

"Fine." Murphy said. "Someone better tell goggle boy to keep him mouth shut."

"Blake!" Dakota shouted as she struggled to catch up with him after she came out of her hiding place. Hearing his name, he stopped and turned his head to find her as she rushed up to his side. His eyes rolled, almost involuntarily, at her presence.

"Blake!" I shouted, struggling to catch up with him.

"What do you want Kane?" He nearly barked.

"You're going hunting, right?" She asked, catching up with her breath. Bellamy studied her for a moment, confused, but slowly nodded.

"Right.." He trailed off and crossed his arms. "Why?"

"I'm coming with you." The determined female copied his stance and attempted to stare him down. Bellamy broke out into a smile and started to move again towards his men, his hunting party, who were waiting at the edge of the camp. She followed after him. "Hey! You need me," she called out as she ran to catch up with him, which gained the attention of the rest of his hunting party.

Miller heaved a heavy sigh, tilting his head back so he could stare up at the blue sky in complete exasperation. "Let's be honest here, I'm a much better hunter than the rest of you combined."

Bellamy scoffed. "Says who?"

Dakota laughed  "I don't know. Does your father happen to be in charge of all law enforcement officers on the Ark?"

Bellamy suddenly stopped in his tracks, making the female behind him almost stumble into his back. Bellamy turned his head and looked down at her curiously. "What's your angle short-stack? You obviously don't like me and I don't like you. Now you're volunteering to come on a day trip with me?"

"How about we call it boredom?"  she suggested sourly with a small smirk. "I need something to do and I'm growing tired to Jasper's constant moaning, is that good enough for you?"

Bellamy surveyed her, fully intent on sending her away without a second thought. But then, his brown eyes focused down on the metal band that was still tightly attached on her wrist. He knew he wasn't going to be able to force it off of her, but he was realizing that if he took a step in the right direction- like being nice to her for once- he could possibly gain her trust and have her take off the wrist band. There was no way that the rest of council up on the Ark would follow them here if he took down Marcus Kane's daughter.

He glanced back up at her, fully aware that she had caught him staring down at her wristband, and smiled. Then he reached towards the waistband of his pants and extended a knife towards her. "Congrats, Kane. Now let's move."
