chapter fourteen - grounder *unedited*
None of us replied to Bellamy as we followed the Grounder at a fast pace. We all maneuvered through the forest quietly, and it seemed that it worked as the grounder was entering this cave of some sort. We all glanced at each other, hesitant at first to go in the cave. I rolled my eyes and walked in front of Bellamy to go in the cave first. Bellamy immediately grabbed my arm and pulled me back, glaring at me.
Bellamy walked in front of me instead of I going recklessly inside. He took his time, I followed behind him, and so did the others. Monroe and another person stayed outside to keep watch.
We carefully moved through the cave, trying to keep quiet and hopefully to catch the grounder off guard and capture him. I felt a little breeze coming ahead of us, Bellamy was the first to get there and we all heard his gasp. "Octavia!"
An unconscious grounder was slumped against a wall, and Octavia was trying to break free from some chains. "Bell!" She replied, "You gotta get the key."
Bellamy ran to his sister, and proceeded on freeing her from her chains. They both exchanged an embrace. I smiled at how happy they were to see each other. "It's okay, You're okay." Bellamy mumbled, patting her back gently.
Octavia pulled away and limped towards Jasper, hugging him lightly, "How did you find me?"
"We followed that guy." Jasper gestured to the grounder.
"We better go before he wakes up." She said, smiling at me.
"He wont." Bellamy said gruffly.
He leaned down to examine the grounder's weaponry as Octavia pleaded. "Bellamy, stop! He didn't hurt me, lets just go!" Octavia pleaded while she tried pushing Bellamy away.
I took this chance the examine the grounder, he looked a lot like a normal human being. I thought that they atleast would've looked well.. a bit more different than your average human. In the corner of my vision, something had caught my attention and I leaned down to examine the object on his waist.
It was a horn of some sort, with writings I've never seen before. "He started this. Dakota, move." Bellamy hissed.
Finn sat beside me, seeing what I discovered. "Foghorn." He whispered. I reached out to grab the horn off his belt and suddenly the grounder reached out, hauling me up and throwing me across the cave. I stumbled to the ground.
"I'm the fucking goose.." I muttered under my breath before letting out a small chuckle. I immediately regretted it as I turned on my side to see the grounder stab Finn, straight in the ribs.

"Clarke! Where's Clarke!" Jasper yelled. They entered camp. Monroe and the other's were carrying Finn, and Octavia was trying to keep me balanced over her shoulder, but with all the blood I had lost and the pain in my shoulder caused me to blackout. Bellamy had to grab me instead.
"Finn? Finn!" Clarke ran forwards. "Oh my god. Oh, oh my god." She breathed. She checked for a pulse. "He's alive." She said.
"Bellamy wouldn't let me take the knife out." Jasper said.
"No, no. That was a good call. Get him in the drop ship. Now!"
"Clarke, can you save him?" Bellamy asked.
"No, no not me. I need my mother." Clarke said, panicking. Clarke looked down at me, "Is she okay?"
Raven pushed her way through the crowd and her eyes widen at the scene before her.
Bellamy nodded, "She's fine, just lost some blood and a dislocated shoulder. Focus on Finn."
"There's still no radio!" Raven said, putting her hands behind her head.
"Raven, fix it. Go!" Clarke ordered. Clarke ran inside the drop ship.
"Bellamy.. I'm fine.." I croaked out, when I awoken. He looked down at me with a frown. "Just let me go.. I'll go to the dropship."
"Jones." Bellamy called out, and a tall boy came to his call. "Take Dakota into the dropship." He nodded and grabbed me bridal style.
Bellamy turned to Octavia. "Why were you defending him?" He shouted.
"He saved my life-"
"No, I saved your life! For all you know he could've been keeping you alive to string you up as bait!"
"No, I don't think so." Octavia said.
"That's the problem O! You don't think! They killed three of our people today! And if you would've let me stab him while I had the chance Finn wouldn't be dying in there right now!" He yelled.
"Stop blaming me for your mistakes!" Octavia roared. "What happened to Finn is not my fault. I wanted to leave. So if Finn dies in there, it's on you." She said. "Everything that's gone wrong is because of you. You got me locked up on the ark. You wanted me to go to that stupid dance. You got mom killed!"
Bellamy looked at her. "Me?" He sniffed. "Mom was floated for having you. She's dead because you're alive. That was her choice. I didn't have a choice. My life ended the day you were born."
Bellamy said. Tears welled in Octavia's eyes. She stormed off towards the exit but Bellamy grabbed her. "Where do you think you're going?" He said.
"You can't keep me locked up in here forever." She broke free and stormed off. Bellamy looked up at the sky.
"Storms coming." He said darkly, before slamming shut the door to the wall.
***
I'm not sure how long I was out for, but I could hear voices all around me, and Clarke yelling in the dropship. She was trying her best to keep Finn alive while Raven tried to fix the radio. My body wouldn't let me move, nor would my eyes open.
"Is she awake yet?" I heard Bellamy's voice sound near me.
"No, but she's sweating like hell and every now and then she just starts trembling. Clarke can't do anything, she had to focus on Finn." Octavia said with a sigh. "She keeps mumbling things about her father."
"Raven is doing all she can to contact the Ark, but the storm's getting worse out there." Bellamy replied.
Octavia fell silent and I could feel a cloth touch my forehead, "Why won't she wake up, Bell?" Octavia's voice was weak.
"That grounder, the one you insist helped you, slammed her head against a damn wall. That's why she won't wake up."
"Does anyone have some water?" I managed to croak out. I still couldn't open my eyes, was I blind?
"Dakota!" Octavia smiled at me, relieved. She passed me a water bottle, putting it to my lips. I felt the cold liquid run down my throat.
"I can't see." I muttered. I heard Bellamy laugh at that.
"Opening your eyes may help." He replied.
My eyes finally managed to flutter open, and Bellamy was leaning beside Octavia. She looked at me and smiled softly.
"Is Finn alright?" I questioned as I started to sit up, but my head started to spin.
Octavia pushed me back down, "You need to lay down." I pushed her off of me, "I'm fine. Is Finn okay?" I glanced over at Bellamy who glanced down at his shoes. "Bellamy?"
"Raven is contacting the Ark. Clarke needs her mother to help remove the knife." Bellamy answered.
I nodded, "I need to go see him," I started to get up to stand but Bellamy stopped me. "You need to rest."
"Stop treating me like I'm your sister. I'm fine!" I yelled out, Octavia shared a glance over at me. I pushed Bellamy's hands off me, and got up. I stumbled a little, and Bellamy had to catch my arm. "I'm fine." I muttered.
I began to walk over to Clarke and Raven. "Mom, he's dying. The knife is still in his chest." She was looking over at the radio in despair.
"Clarke, is my son with you?" Jaha asked. I caught Clarke's eye.
"I'm so sorry. Wells is- Wells is dead." More silence.
"I'm going to talk you through it step by step." Abby said. "Clarke, just 5-" A lightning bolt flashed through the sky and the signal became indistinct able.
"Raven, what's wrong!" Raven looked over at me as I began to walk over towards her,"It's not the radio, it's the storm." Raven said.
Octavia walked in carrying two containers. Clarke sniffed it. "Uck. Monty's moonshine?" She asked.
"Pretty sure no germ can survive it." Octavia responded.
"Monroe, close the doors." Clarke ordered.
"We still have people out there." Monroe said.
"Monty and Jasper aren't back yet. Neither is Bellamy." Octavia replied, catching my attention. I literally just left Bellamy, where the hell did he run off too?
"It's alright. They'll find somewhere to ride it out." Clarke responded.
Raven handed Clarke a needle. "I still need something to close the wound with." Clarke said.
"There's some wires upstairs I use it for tents." Octavia said, starting to climb upstairs.
"Hey, they're back!" Someone yelled. Bellamy walked inside, dripping wet. Behind him, two people were dragging a grounder. They threw him down.
"Well, look what the cat dragged in." I didn't hide my distaste for the grounder. He attacked me and all I wanted to see was his horn.
Octavia hopped down from the upper level of the dropship, her eyes turned and narrowed down at the grounder. "The hell are you doing?" She asked.
"I need to get some answers." Bellamy responded.
"You mean revenge."
"I mean intel." He shot back. "Get him upstairs." He ordered.
"Bellamy, She's right." Clarke looked over at him after soaking her hands in the moonshine.
Abby's voice appeared over the radio, "Clarke, honey, we're ready." It said. "Can you hear me?"
Clarke looked back at the radio, but her attention turned towards Bellamy again, "Look, This is not who we are."
Clarke's mother called out to her again. Bellamy looked at Clarke, "It is now."
