Ch. 7
You drive through the empty street, silently hoping that your favorite breakfast restaurant is open. You turn into the restaurant's parking lot and see a few scattered cars parked. You breathe a sigh of relief as you pull into a parking spot and get out of the car.
You wait for Loki to get out and after he does, you lock the car and pull open the door. "Please, allow me," Loki offers as he holds the door for you. "Okay, I see you Mr. Gentleman," you say looking him up and down with a smile.
"Anytime, milady" he says with a bow as he enters in after you. You walk up to the counter and speak to the young waiter there. "Table for two please," you say to him. He nods.
"Follow me please." He says gesturing for you to follow him. He leads you to a table near a window and takes out his order pad.
"What drinks may I start you off with today?" He asks. "I'll have coffee," you say and look at Loki. "Coffee for me as well,"
The waiter nods and scribbles on his order pad. "Okay, I'll be right back with your drinks." He says and gives you a wink before walking away.
Loki stares after him as he walks away. "Come on, we're leaving." He says, getting up. "Well what about-" you start, but he grabs my wrist.
"Well nevermind then," you say sarcastically as you roll your eyes. You free your hand from his grasp and wait on the pavement with your arms crossed as he tries to open the passenger door.
"Unlock the door." He says, looking at you. You hold out the keys. "Not until you answer why you dragged me away from my breakfast, Loki." You say with a stern tone.
Loki sighs. "Just unlock the damn door Natalie!" He nearly shouts, clearly frustrated. "Fine. Don't wanna answer? You can stay out here for all I care! I'm going to eat my breakfast." You state as you go back inside the restaurant.
You sit back at your table and rest your chin on your left hand, tapping your fingers angrily against the table with your right. The waiter soon comes with your coffees.
"Here you go madam, and- oh. Did he?" You wave it off. "My friend had to run an errand is all," You reply calmly.
"Ok. What will you be having today?" You look down at the menu. "I'll have the Italian Cannoli Pancakes." You say with a nod. "Alright. I'll get that started for you." He says with a friendly smile as he takes your menu and walks away.
You place your head in your hands. "God, what have I done?" You say, closing your eyes. "Friendship problems?" You hear a voice say. You look up and see the waiter. He places down your order.
"Heh. That's the understatement of the century. More like life problems." You respond and take a bite of your cannoli pancakes. "Talk to me. It's not like I have anything better to do," he jokes and gestures to the empty restaurant.
"Okay then..." You say, looking at his nametag. "...Tristan," He smiles and takes the seat across from you. "Basically, I think my friend got kinda jealous because you winked at me," You say, taking another bite of your cannoli.
"Hey, I'm sorry for causing so much trouble between you two. I didn't mean it like that. It was more of a 'Okay, I'll get started on that for you right away!' kind of thing. You know?"
You nod your head in understanding. "Besides, there's no way I would want to flirt with you much less be intersted in you." Tristan continues.
You lean in, intrigued. "And why would that be?" You ask, narrowing your eyes at him. "Well one, because I'm gay. And two, I have a boyfriend." He says pointing to the ring shaped like an infinity sign on his right hand's ring finger.
You smile. "That's good to know, Tristan. I'm glad your love life is going well," you comment as you finish your cannolis. "Thanks." Tristan responds.
You shake your head. "No. Thank you for clearing that whole mess up. I'll try and let my friend know, but he might not listen. So if we come back in here, you wouldn't mind explaining it to him, would you?" You ask.
"Of course not. Like I said, it's not like I have anything better to do." You get up and grab the coffee cup. "I better head out now. Thanks again, Tristan."
Tristan waves his hand. "It was nothing! Good luck with your friend/soon-to-be boyfriend!" Tristan teases. You shake your head as you walk out of the restaurant.
