Ch. 12
You bite your lip as Loki looks into your eyes. "S-sorry, I just-" Loki places a hand behind your head and he pulls you towards him. He connects his lips with yours and kisses you slowly.
"If you didn't want to watch the horror movie, you could've just said so," Loki says as he pulls away. You look down and fumble your fingers around.
"I didn't really want to clash with your decision." You say as you look back up. Loki takes your hand and places it on his cheek. He keeps his hand on yours and he gently turns his head to kiss your palm, his intense eyes trained on you.
God that was sexy.
"I wouldn't have minded, it was just a suggestion." He says as he releases your hand. You bite your lip once more, unsure of what to say next.
Loki looks at the clock in the kitchen and he stands up. "What are you doing?" You ask, following after him. "You can stay here. I have an errand to run. I'll be back in a few, I promise." He says.
You purse your lips for a second before nodding and sitting back down. "Okay." You respond as he walks out the door. You decide to watch Grey's Anatomy again while you wait.
Minutes pass, then hours, and before you know it, it's nighttime and Loki still isn't back. You decide to wait for him, slowly dozing off on the couch.
You awake to the sound of your front door opening. And then you hear a familiar voice. "Agh, damn it!" Your eyes fly open at the sound of distress and you immediately get up from the couch.
"Loki, what the hell?!" You say, looking him up and down. His shirt is torn in different places, his pants are dirty and scuffed, and he has a huge gash right where his previous injury was.
"Where the hell do you go where you get this hurt?!" You say, your voice trailing off as you go into your room to get the first aid kit.
You come out and sit next to Loki on the couch. "I-I'm sorry. Maybe I shouldn't go out so often." He responds as you apply medicine. "Damn right you shouldn't," you mutter under your breath, kind of annoyed at this point.
You wrap the bandage around his waist and once you've secured it, you pull his shirt back down. You lift your hand and place it on his chest, then slowly push him down to lie down on the couch.
You get up from the couch and kneel next to his face. "Promise me you'll try not to get hurt again." You say looking into his eyes. "I promise" Loki responds. You kiss his forehead before standing back up.
You begin to walk away when Loki grabs your wrist. "Natalie," you hear him say. You turn your head to look at him. "Stay with me. Please." You look into his eyes for a second before going and laying next to him, your back against his chest.
His arms wrap around yours, pulling you against him. "Thank you," you hear him whisper in your ear. You think he's fallen asleep when you feel someone gently bite down on your earlobe.
You exhale louder than you realize. "So you liked it," you hear Loki comment from behind you. "Shut up and go to sleep." You say back, closing your eyes.
He just nibbles on your earlobe again. "Stop it," you say swatting your hand at him. "No." You turn to face him, your chest flush against his. "I'll make you a deal. Stop it and we can go to the beach tomorrow."
He rolls his eyes. "Fine. But only for the sake of seeing you in a swimsuit." He replies with a mischievous grin. You stare at him open mouthed. "You..." you stop midsentence, unsure of how to continue.
Loki just smiles and pecks your lips. "Sleep." You nestle your head in the crook of his neck and close your eyes, feeling safe in his embrace.
~The next morning~
You gently get up from the couch careful not to wake Loki. You enter your room and dig through your drawers for that one swimsuit you bought a long time ago that you thought you were never going to use.
And there it is.
(A/N: Just the swimsuit)
You slip on the two-piece bikini and wear a loose black cropped t-shirt and simple jean shorts to cover the bikini. You double check your look in the body mirror in your room to make sure no part of the swimsuit is showing. Once you're sure that everything's good and hidden, you walk out of your room and find that Loki has just woken up. "Morning," you say, taking a seat next to him.
"You gonna get changed?" you ask Loki, who is yawning. "Changed for what?" he asks, completely forgetting about the deal from yesterday. "The beach silly," you remind him. At the mention of the word "beach" Loki's memory comes flooding in. "The beach, right." He says as he gets up and makes his way towards the guest room.
You shake your head as you pull out your phone and order a two drinks from Starbucks. Loki comes out wearing a blue t-shirt and black jeans. You get up from the couch and grab your bag. You sling it over your shoulder and pull your keys out. "Let's go," you say to Loki as you open the apartment door.
You climb inside of your car, turn the ignition, and wait for Loki. He slowly walks down the steps and towards the car. Once he's in, you stare at him. "What?" he asks you. "You have no idea how hard it is to get a parking spot at the beach do you?" you reply as you pull out of the parking lot and drive towards the beach.
~a drive to the beach later~
You drive along the street and turn right into a parking lot designated for the beach. You find one parking spot open and quickly steer towards it. "We got lucky," you say to Loki with a smile. You grab your towel from the backseat and Loki does the same. You press a button on your car keys and the roof of the car comes out of the back. You open the door to the backseat and get in.
"I'm going to change. No. Peeking. I'm serious." you say to Loki before shutting the door. You slip off your shirt and shorts and toss them on the bottom of the car in the driver seat. You open the door a little and see Loki leaning on the back of the car.
"Go to the other side and enter through there." you tell Loki. You time it perfectly and get out before he gets in and make sure he doesn't see your bikini. Loki comes out wearing simple grayscale swim trunks.
You sneak around the car and jump on his back, wrapping your legs around his waist. "Onward!" You command him, pointing towards the beach. Loki just scoffs and starts walking.
A few minutes later, you arrive on the boardwalk and you hop off Loki's back. "Can I see your swimsuit now?" Loki asks, relieved that you finally got off his back.
"Of course you can. Turn around." He turns and you can't help but laugh as his mouth slowly opens as he looks you up and down. "Done?" You ask, raising your eyebrows.
"I need to show these people your mine," Loki says looking around at the people walking along the boardwalk. You interlace your fingers with his. "There." You say as you squeeze his hand.
"Not enough," Loki responds with a smirk. He picks you up and carries you bridal style all the way to the beach. You kind of felt bad that he was carrying you the whole way, but hey, no complaints here.
When you finally arrive at the beach Loki sets you down gently. "I think I made my statement," Loki says, approving of his own action.
You smile at him as you toss your towel on the sand. "I'm going in the water." You say as you walk away. "And don't worry, if anyone asks I'll tell them I have a boyfriend!" You add before running to the waves.
You wade in the shallows for a bit before going deeper to waist-deep water. You close your eyes and inhale the smell of the salty sea breeze.
You feel at peace in that moment, just feeling the wind blow through your hair, hearing the seagulls call, feeling the sun beaming down on your face.
You open your eyes, feeling completely relaxed.
And you don't notice the wave behind you.
It crashes on you, slamming into your back and consuming you. You are pushed underwater and you try to see where you are but the salt stings your eyes.
You try to come up for air but another wave slams down on you. You feel your lungs slowly filling up with water as you start to choke.
And then,
darkness.
