Chapter Seven
Robert's POV
“Are you trying to scare her?” My sister, Elizabett stormed into my bedroom.
“Who,” I played dumb lying lazily on my blue spread, reading.
“Don’t you dare play dumb with me Robert,” she pointed her midnight hair windswept. “I know that you sneaked out and I know that you sent a guard to her house!”
“Well Eliza you are Sherlock Holmes!” I sighed.
“I knew it,” she squealed. “So what happened?” she threw herself onto my bed, nearly kick me in the head with her jean covered legs.
“Nothing,”
“Tell me now,” she poked me in the stomach.
“Really nothing,” I sighed. “I went to her house after David failed to get her to come, I was gonna come speak to her but she was a sleep,”
“Aww poor Robbie,” she ruffled my hair causing a growl to escape my lips, which made her giggle. “Let me speak to her,” she suggested.
“No,” I shook my head. “I’ll go tomorrow.”
“Your highness,” a knock came at the door.
“What is it?” I asked laughing at my sister’s face as she pulled silly faces.
“It’s that girl you told us to watch,” the man said. The smile faded from my face. “Her pack as been attacked,”
“By what,” I flung the door open to a worried looking David.
“Rogues Sir,” he winced.
“Is she...” I could form the words in my mouth.
“No but it is something else,” he looked unsure. “Well the thing is....”
“Spit it out,” I snapped as Eliza came to my side.
“What is it David,” Eliza asked the old man.
“It is better if we just took you there,” he rubbed his temples. “It is hard to explain,” he sighed.
We made it to the Iron Wolf pack territory in less than an hour. I watched as we made it down a woodland path towards the Alpha’s house. I had discovered that the Alpha doesn’t live with the rest of his pack which was odd as most like to live within the pack house. Many questions were forming in my head and I couldn’t wait to ask Alpha John them.
“Sir we are here,” we parked up in front of a white house. I noted two guards by the front door as I stepped out of our black Land Rover. They started too whispered to one another before steeping our way.
“Who are you and what do you want?” Snapped one of them in an almost growl voice. Anger started to rage inside me as my wolf stirred from his cage. How dare he talk to us like that? My wolf growled.
“I am here to see Alpha John, so I say step aside,” I said politely trying to calm my inner wolf.
“How do we know we can trust you stranger,” the other guard said.
“Move,” one of my guards snapped growling at the two Iron Wolves.
“If you don’t state why you are here then I am afraid we’ll have to kill you!”
“Well if you kill me you’ll be committing treason and also if you kill my sister,” I stated in a bored voice. “Now will you please stand aside?”
“What is going on out here,” a voice boomed and the two wolves and some of mine all submitted to the Alpha command but I and Eliza bet stood there. “Speak stranger,” the young man with dirty blond hair tried to Alpha command me.
“Enough of that youngling,” Eliza chuckled. “No matter how many times you try to Alpha command us, it will not work,” she giggled fluttering her eye lashes.
I rolled my eyes. “I am here to see Alpha John,”
“I am afraid he is busy right now with the doctors,” the young man said, worry present on his face.
“Has anything happened to him?” I asked knowing already about the rogue attacked but decided to act dumb.
“We have just been attacked by Rogues and my sister in hurt,” he said fidgeting to get back to his sister.
“Which sister?” I asked.
“Iris,” that is all I heard and I saw red.
“Tell me where she is,” I used my Alpha command this time. My wolf had started to take over and I could pull him back to his cage.
“Upstairs, second room to the right,” the young man shook with fear at my wolf’s power.
“I am sorry,” Eliza muttered following my running form.
Iris’s POV
I couldn’t believe my eyes! I kept closing them, pinching myself really hard before opening them, but it still didn’t go away. The girl that stared back at me in the mirror wasn’t me.
This girl had a golden tint to her skin, her face was oval (like mine) but her cheeks were high and a rosy colour washed over them. Her eyebrows were high arching and framed her slim face. My lips were now fuller and stained ruby red. I blinked the biggest change of all was her eyes, the once ruby red was now black onyx with a ring of gold around the pupil and they flickered like flames with every strong emotion that overcame me. Another massive change was the hair, mine was no longer golden but black like coal. This couldn’t be me!
I sighed washing my face with cool water when the door suddenly banged opened, making me jump. Fear bubbled inside me but soon disappeared when my eyes locked with those of Robert’s. His once jade eyes were now jet black and radiated power and the beast within. Robert slammed the door in the faces of my concerned family members and took a step closer to me. His eyes flicker over my body, zoning in on the bandages, the cleaned cuts and grazes.
His form was bigger and wider when his wolf had taken over. His chest was bursting of muscle normally but today the fabric of his shirt strained and stretched even more so. His legs were thick like tree trunks, made him taller and more intimating than normal. It was like Robert wasn’t there but there was something not right about him, he had a animalistic like quality to his human body.
“Your highness,” I bowed keeping my eyes low and my face expressionless. My ears were met with a growl and before I could look up I was pinned against the tiled bathroom wall. His thick arms caged me in and his face was a few inches from my face, his minty breathes fanning against my heated cheeks. “Err... Robert?” I flushed crimson as his eyes bored into mine. My heart pounded in my chest like the beat of a humming bird’s wings.
“Iris,” he voice was gruff and husky. “I haven’t stopped thinking about you,” he groaned shagging his head in defeat.
“Err... Robert,” my face was now scarlet in colour. “Could you please move back?” I questioned feeling more and more uncomfortable with each passing moment.
His intoxicating scent surrounded me and his eyes shone with frustration. He ignored my question and my discomfort. “Iris I was so worried,” his eyes still black like the night. “I thought something had happened to you,” his eyes filling with misery as my heart pounding against my rib cage. Why was he doing this?
“Your hair is black like coal,” he played my mess of a hair, brushing the lock that had fallen in my face away. His fingers brushed against my forehead and then across my cheek bones, sending s delightful shiver back my spine. I sighed closing my eyes for a moment, enjoying his touch. His thumb traced my scarlet lips before caressing my cheek. “You’re beautiful,” he sighed as I reopened my eyes to meet his. My breath became heavy as he face came closer to mine. Was he going to kiss me? He suddenly pulled back, closing his eyes and stepping back. When he reopened them they were their emerald green colour again.
“Are you okay?” he cleared his throat and refused to look me in the eye.
I sighed in defeat. “I am fine,” I replied like I did to all the doctors’ questions.
“Are you sure,” he raised his black eyebrow. “You don’t have to lie to me!”
“What makes you different, apart from the fact you’re the Prince, I can lie if I want to,” a sudden beat of anger came over me as the prince still refused to look me in the eye.
“I did not mean to offend,” he said in a formally.
“Well you have your highness,” I snapped as he frowned. “Why are you here anyway?”
“I was worried about you” he sighed as I turned away to looking intensively at the shower. “Please don’t be angry at me,” he pled taking hold of my arm and swirling me around. “Iris I thought something bad had happened to you and I wanted to see if you were okay!”
“But why,” I sighed not understanding anything about this situation.
“I thought you would have guessed by now,” he chuckled shaking his head. “I like you Iris,” giving me a small smile.
“I like you too, you seem like a really nice person,” I puzzled at what he was trying to tell me.
“I don’t mean like a friend,” he chuckled again.
I frowned. “What do you mean then?” I asked feeling nervous.
“He means he has a crush on you,” a girl burst through the bathroom door suddenly. “And it is pretty school girl too,” she laughed as Robert turned scarlet. “Hi I am Elizabett but do call me Eliza,” he shook my hand. “It is nice to finally meet you,” she gave a dazzling smile.
“You too,” I puzzled.
“Last time I saw you, you had blond hair,” she grinned. “It looks nice black.”
“Thank you,” I flashed red.
“Your highness,” the man from the other day (the guy who had been in the kitchen) entered the now crowded bathroom. “Alpha John wishes to speak with you now,” The man bowed.
“Thank you David,” Robert nodded. “Eliza could you look after Iris while I speak with Alpha John,” he asked his sister. Why was he wanting to speak with my dad and did he really have a crush on me? The thought of that made me smile. “I’ll be back soon,” he whispered in my ear before pecking my cheek which flushed crimson again.
Robert’s POV
“what is your interest with my daughter,” Alpha John harshness hit me as I walked through the door. “I know what you are like, I don’t care if you the Prince but if you hurt my little girl I will kill you,” He said standing up from behind his wooden desk.
His officer was small and cosy compared to the castle’s one. It was painted a warm cream and the walls were covered with family photos, each one with smiling faces. There was nothing like that back in the castle, no happy faces, no family holiday snaps, nothing. I sighed turning back to Alpha John.
“Do you mind if I sit?” he nodded for me to go ahead. “My intensions for your daughter are honourable. I wish for her to become my Queen,”
The Alpha’s eyes almost popped out of his skull when I said that. “Why have you not announced her as your queen,” he narrowed his eyes at me.
“Because I am not old fashioned and I wish for the person I spend the rest of my life with to agree to it,” I exhaled slowly. “I don’t want to scare her off, she seems like a runner.”
“There is something you need to know about her,” Alpha John sunk slowly down into his chair with his head in his hands. “She is different,”
“I know,” I said.
“No, I mean she’s not a werewolf,” He sighed.
“I guessed that she doesn’t smell like one.” I agreed.
“She’s not even my daughter,” the Alpha looked odd and worn out at the moment of time. It was like he was carrying a great weight for some time and was just about to give up. Pity welled up inside of me.
