Chapter Thirty-Nine
How cool is the new cover its like her bad arse side and then her "Lets have tea with the biatchs" part, It's like her blast from the past. Anyways I have an exam on Monday, I only need 25 out of 65 to pass, but I can't even manage to get 3 marks atm, so frustrated and decided I will write a short chapter. So at least you get something. Screwed up 2 out of 4 exams so far sighness
I hadn't even noticed that Carter had disappeared, all I remember was that we had split into groups. Alex seemed to notice my panic and sat down, "Don't worry, we sent him for back up,"
Well thank the lord. The last thing we needed was another change of plans or a new found traitor. Alex went back to keep an eye on the prince and I looked at Nik who was bouncing on his seat.
"Do you need to pee or something?" I asked confused.
"What?" his eyebrows knotted. "No, I just don't want to die thank you,"
And the sass was real, I rolled my eyes awkwardly patting his shoulder, trying to give him some sort of comfort, but I really didn't know how to give that, "You'll be fine, you've got us ya know?" I winked trying to ease him but it didn't seem to be working.
He gave me a hesitant smile before turned to me, "Are you sure they want to kill me,"
I nodded, it made more sense. Of course there were till spaces missing in this, it made no sense. Why there was an attach on Jax at the airport, but then after I found the bullet I was pretty sure it wasn't him they were aiming for.
Or maybe they were aiming for him just to put us off their scent, and they did, they were smart. It seemed we were up against a bigger master mind than I initially thought. But some events were too random, like what happened in Russia.
They had nothing to do with the royal family, well a bit, but they were so spontaneous and badly constructed it made me think whether they were deploys, to throw us off track. Because it worked damn well.
I sighed running a hand through my hair and closing my eyes trying to remember all the research I had gathered this morning.
"Isandra!" Nik said and I realised he had asked a question, oh right.
"Um," I said sitting up in a more comfortable spot, but it really wasn't since my gun was still digging into my back, "Well," yes he was going to die, "Maybe,"
Of course I wasn't going to let him die.
"But why?"
I shrugged "They probably just think you want the throne back. I mean you're of age, and technically you're legally allowed to take it back if people found out that it was your mother that was meant to be queen. Which makes no sense, surely the people knew how many children your grandfather had?"
Nik waved a hand, "Oh they all did, they just thought she ran away or something," he shrugged.
"Do you want to be king?" I asked.
Nik bit his lip shrugging, "The idea has never crossed my mind and honestly I would rather not. Having the whole of Rusmania depending on me is pretty scary. I wouldn't want to stuff up or anything right? I want to make sure the poor got what they needed but without causing discrepancy in the ranks. I don't agree with everything that's happening in that country but it's been a long time since I've been there and I wouldn't want to change how the people are living and everything," he suddenly paused realizing he was rambling.
And with that mini god forsaken speech that finally ended, I realised, he would have made a good king, a better kind than Jax and his stupid bimbo were going to make.
"Do you think i I just made a press conference about how I don't want to be king they'll leave me alone,"
"Doubt it," I said. By what he was saying the people thought his mother abandoned them and left, the last thing they needed was her to come back asking for the crown, now that would cause discrepancy within the small country.
It seemed more like an internal affair, there were only a few people who knew this. Someone wanted Jax to be king, and the only person I could think of was Catherina.
She really had the only motive here, to be the queen, not that she was going to do anything anyways as a queen, but she wanted it bad and I could tell.
"God can I get out of this house already?"
I jumped hearing Nik, his eyes were focused on something behind me and I turned around to see Eden standing there.
He frowned before nodding, "What, no," I said sitting up. He wasn't going to put Nik in danger. I looked at Nik giving him a warning not to tell anyone about the discussion we had. He met my gaze and nodded.
"Nik, no you aren't stepping a foot out,"
"Look if I die, I'll die in here or out there, besides, isn't Jax who they want," I narrowed my eyes at the tactic he was using and then looked at Eden raising an eyebrow.
Clearly he wasn't stupid enough to take him out.
"Just a walk around the house or whatever this stupid place is. Please. I need fresh air,"
Eden ran a hand through his pale blonde hair and signed. "Ten minute walk Nik,"
I rolled my eyes, "Are you serious?"
"Do you want to come?" Eden asked. I got up shaking my head.
"Knock yourselves, out, its boiling out there," I said walking towards the other room, I would know I just spent half the day in that stupid heat. God I hated mood changing weather.
I grabbed some clothes to have a quick shower, I felt sticky and gross. But then I also hated having showers, not because of the amazing warm water whilst you were in it. But the humidity and sticky feeling of it when you came out.
But turning the cold temperature up, I was relaxed as the water came down, I didn't want to stay in the bathroom for too long, it was dark and somewhat grossed me out. I was very particular about where I had a shower.
I got out quickly, tip toeing so I didn't have to touch the cold tiles for too long, god knows how long it had been since they cleaned this bathroom.
I quickly changed wrapping my hair in a towel and stepping out. Placing my clothes back I walked to the kitchen to make myself some food.
Damn it Carter, why did you have to go now? He was the only good chef in here. I frowned staring through the items, when did Alex bring all the food? But looking at all of it, I wasn't really that hungry. Instead I grabbed the bowl of strawberries, making sure they were safe to eat before popping them in my mouth.
Man, why couldn't we order pizza or something?
Because that is a stupid idea
I popped another one in my mouth watching Jax as he walked over, still dazed, "Where are we?"
He sat on the bar stool grabbing my bowl and I narrowed my eyes, well, he certainly has kingly manners.
I kept quiet as he put one in his mouth, the one i placed to the side because it was rotten. I enjoyed watching his face go pale as he spat it back out.
"Oh why thank you, we all want to eat your saliva," I said irritated, well there went the bowl of strawberries.
"Shh, not so loudly,"
"Do you want some panadol?" I asked. His eyes lit up as he looked at me, "Do you have some?"
I smirked, "No," I thought it would just be fun to offer. He grumbled something under his breathe running a hand through his hair, "Where's Nik and Eden?"
"Out for a walk, Alex?" I asked realising I hadn't seen my dear brother after he told me off earlier.
"Sleeping,"
What? Seriously? He was having a nap. I walked around the bench and then decided on an idea, I grabbed the bowl of saliva filled strawberry filling it up with water as Jax watched me curiously. I went to the fridge grabbing ice-cubes out, that's what he gets for sleeping on the job.
And he tells me off for being careless.
"Can I go for a walk as well?"
I looked over my shoulder as I watched the ice-cubes melt, it had to be the perfect temperature to get the optimal reaction. Hey, smart words, I guess I did learn something at uni after all.
"What, no," I said, was he stupid? Well clearly he got drunk and threw up everywhere last night, oh god the memory still made me cringe.
"What no what?"
"You aren't going outside, that's whats a no," so many nos and whats I was afraid his puny sized brain woudn't understand. He frowned as I shook my head, god he was irritating. Or maybe I just grew some type of hatred towards him.
He seemed to realise as well because the next thing I knew he was right behind me, his grip on my arm slightly alarming as he turned me around.
Well shit, I wasn't expecting him to have that harsh of a grip.
"What the hell?" I muttered prying my hands under his and taking it off.
"Why do you hate me so much?"
"Hate is a strong word," I replied nodding, "So yes I hate you,"
His eyes darkened narrowing at me, "Why?"
I scoffed, "Really your royal highness, we're really having this conversation?" I asked raising an eyebrow, was he for real, but I guess he was.
"I never liked you from the start," I replied shrugging, did he not see me glaring at him and Catherina in the limo rides or being sarcastic every minute I got.
"But you kissed me!"
"No," I said leaning backwards, "You kissed me, all I was doing was trying to be friendly so I didn't get beheaded,"
"But," He looked lost for words as he stared at me and then leaned back running a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated.
"Look all you wanted was someone who you could break the rules with," I said, I how this worked pretty well by now, he wanted to rebel. I mean so would anyone if you were stuck learning the rules of how to be a prince all the time, it would be frustrating.
I get why Nik doesn't want to be one, "And then you were forced into an engagement, you would probably want to find someone opposite of Catherina, who not but me," seeing as there were not many other females guarding him or around him.
"As much as I hate that bit-person, I find you pretty disgusting. Your engaged and here you are going around making out with every other girl you find,"
"Are you jealous" he asked standing straighter.
I scoffed, "See what I mean, I am not jealous of you Jax, there is really nothing to be jealous about, I pity you. But then I guess you're really made for each other,"
"You're right," he suddenly said, "You were nothing but a mistake,"
I raised an eyebrow, "If that was meant to hurt, you need to up on your comebacks, because you're the real mistake since your fathers condom broke," and suddenly I was glad Alex was still sleeping, if he saw me disrespecting Jax like this, I was sure he was going to hang me even if the royal palace wouldn't.
I saw emotion in his eyes and realized it did it's job, and that's how you attach someone. What I didn't expect was him reretaliating.
"You're right, but I won't say anything back because I have more self-control," he leaned over his warm breathe touching my cheek, "And I don't go around killing my co-workers,"
I sucked in a breathe, a weird feeling in my stomach started making me feel uneasy. Well, he learned fast. My throat tightened and my fist balled up, but I wasn't going to show him it affected me, besides I did urge him on.
"From an F to an A, you learn fast," I said nodding and turned to walk away. His arm suddenly caught mine and pulled me back, my eyes widening when I saw how close his face was, especially his lips.
I raised my knee kicking him before punching his face, a bit too far but he shouldn't have pushed that button, that one button I didn't like anyone talking about.
"Honestly Sire, I don't think you want a mere guard's germs on you," I commented leaving him laying on the ground.
And for added measure I looked at the little concoction that was for Alex, and slipped my hand before knocking it over onto him, "Here's some water to wash my germs off, and cool down that burn,"
