Chapter Forty-Four
Sorry for the delay I've just been really busy guys and my laptop died, so I'm getting a new laptop this weekend so my update will be regular. I just want to ask a favor, I don't usually ask you guys to vote but If you have some time please go back and vote on all the chapters if you haven't. This is only for my publishers as my previous books I'ev published had a quota and they want to reach that quota before they publish this just to confirm people actually want it. Shitty I know, but I will be so grateful if you can do that. Thank you xx

"This was meant to simple," He said angry his green eyes darkening. The gun pointed at me, "I was meant to lure you in, I mean you weren't that hard,"
Excuse me? I don't know why that hurt. But it did.
"Get you on my side and then kill this sorry bastard," his gun flew to Nik and I took a step forward.
"He's your cousin," I said trying to distract Jax. I couldn't let him shoot Nik.
Nik already looked petrified shaking in his boots. I wouldn't be surprised if he passed out again.
His eyes flickered to mine, "Cousin," he spat in disgust, "This bastard ruined the chance for me to be king. I should have shot him when he was born,"
"I don't want to be king," Nik yelled in his defence trying to move. His voice was filled with fright.
Jax narrowed his eyes at him, "No, but my stupid father things you deserve the thrown, thinks I'm not fit to be a king," the gun went off shooting the tree near Nik, "I'll prove him I am. I think I should get rid of him next,"
I took the chance of him being distracted and leaped forward trying to get the gun off him.
I grabbed the gun the same time he pulled the trigger, the bullet going astray again, "Jax let go you don't know what you're doing,"
"Shut up," He gave me a shove pushing me back, oh no he wasn't. I pointed my gun as he pointed his at mine, it was both or none.
'You ruined everything," he snapped angry.
"I've planned this forever, every time I tried taking you out, you didn't die,"
"What?" I asked confused.
"You know that bomb thing," He waved his other arm before it went under his gun to hold it steady, "I planned that. Had to bribe them three million to get them to go near you. Apparently you have a reputation Miss Isandra,"
"That was you?"
Why did I feel betrayed?
"Of course. No one would suspect me would they, this is brilliant, playing the innocent prince, I was going to kill him when I got back. But of course my dad had to send you here to guard him. That old man knew too much, maybe he's next"
I clenched my jaw as he took a step forward, I looked at Daniel crouching over Alex doing something.
Alex. My one and only brother. The only family I had left. The only one that put up with me.
"I don't know who to kill first," Jax spoke, "You, no I'll leave you to the end my princess," I flinched when his gun slid against my cheek, when did he get so close?
"I'll kill your stupid boyfriend first, after all he's meant to be dead," He spat turning around looking at Daniel, "He'll look like the traitor," Jax laughed moving back, "This is perfect, Daniel comes back from the dead, kills Nik, I kill him to save myself and sadly the sibling duo end up dead," he said turning back around.
"You're sick," I spat my finger tighetning on the trigger, "Try and shoot me and I'll kill him now," his gun was pointed to Nik.
Jax had planned this out incredibly well. If he really got away with it, it would look like a rouge went wild. Daniel coming to finish everything off. The poor innocent prince stuck in the crossfire. I couldn't let that happen. I couldn't.
"Who's more important, Nik, or your boyfriend, your brothers long dead,"
I stayed silent, if I stalled him enough Carter and Eden could find us, unless they were already dead.
"Of course I'll give you a chance, want to be my bride?"
"Over my dead body,"
He shrugged, "Well, your corpse can be frozen, you'll still look beautiful," he looked at Nik, "However your body on the throne, dead, would look better,"
"Jax don't."
"Don't. Don't. Don't. I'm really starting to hate that word. Don't do this. Don't do that. I've been told that since I was a kid. I'm getting real sick of it." He said his eyes upon me again.
He gave me a soft smile. One that almost made him look human, a confused prince. Not the cunning mastermind he was right now.
"You know I really did like you." He said distracted. My brain was churning. I had to use this distraction to get us all out. Stop Jax.
"It just took me too long to realise your heart was elsewhere." And his tone changed.
He raised the gun aiming at Daniel.
My heart leapt into my throat.
"He can die first, we'll see how you'll love him dead,"
Before he could pull the trigger I pulled mine, the gun went off and his eyes flickered to mine, "You should-,"
Right in the chest, right at the heart.
I felt like everything was in slow motion. My hand trembled the gun dropping.
He fell to the ground and my heart skipped a beat.
What did I just do?
No. No. No.
I was so going to be hanged this time.
A dry laugh came out as I sat on the ground sighing, was it over.
It better be over.
I ran a hand over my face pressing my fingers into my temple.
Hearing footsteps I groaned, I was so over this but seeing it was Carter and Eden I relaxed.
They swore looking around us and then their eyes flickered from my gun to Jax's dead body.
"I had to ki-," I waved a hand not being able to speak.
It was Jax? Fuc*king jax the whole time. Trying to get me on his side, of course I wasn't a meer guard I was a fuc*king player in a game of chess.
"I know," Eden said, "It was far fetched when I heard but I knew it was true. I did my digging and had enough proof," He crouched beside Jax placing a hand over his heart then under his nose, "Dead," He nodded.
I swallowed, I just shot the prince. Can I shoot his stupid bride to be as well?
Then it hit me and I looked at Daniel my fingers itching to my gun.
"Oh no you don't," Eden grabbed the gun from me, "What?" I asked looking up.
"He's on our side," I could hear sirens.
"H-how," I said looking between them, something feeling oddly familiar as I took in Eden's features then Daniel's.
"We're cousins," Eden said lifting me up.
What
I placed a hand against my temple, I can't hand all these new twists right now, "What is that noise?" I asked.
"Ambulance, come on let's get you checked,"
"I'm fine," I said shrugging him off me, "Get them to it first.
Eden nodded as Carter came back, I had't even noticed him go, and behind him were palace guards in full uniform, and ambulance members.
I turned away from the scene walking away. I needed space.
I needed to get out of here.
