You say you love me,
you say you care,
but I have already played this part
out in my head
how you're going to let me down,
and push me out.

You'll mess with my heart,
just like every other person in my life.
It hasn't happened yet,
but the fear is already here,
never leaving my side.

And so, I will find myself doing everything
that I can,
to not let it happen,
I'll strive after perfection,
so I can bypass the rejection,
or at least believe it for a second.
